The Evolution Fragment is one of the most frustrating items to chase in Sailor Piece. It drops exclusively from the True Manipulator boss in the Soul Dominion area, with a drop rate that ranges from 0.55% to 1.16% depending on the difficulty you select. No chests, no regular NPC farming, and no alternative methods will produce this item. If you need it — and you will for Ascension Level 9 and the True Manipulator Sword — the only path runs through this boss fight, over and over again.
Quick answer: Defeat the True Manipulator boss in Soul Dominion on the highest difficulty you can handle. You must deal at least 10% of the boss's total damage to qualify for the drop. Stack luck stats and maximize damage output to shorten the grind.

Unlocking Soul Dominion
Soul Dominion is locked by default. Before you can reach the True Manipulator boss, you need to collect all six Hogyoku Fragments scattered across the game world and then complete the Hogyoku mission on Hollow Island. Only after finishing that quest chain does the Soul Dominion portal become accessible. This is deep end-game content — if you haven't gathered those fragments yet, that's your first priority.

Summoning and fighting the True Manipulator
Step 1: Travel to Soul Dominion through the portal system. Head to the center of the area where the True Manipulator Summoner NPC stands.
Step 2: Press E to interact with the NPC. A summoning menu will appear, showing available difficulty levels and the Chrysalis Sigil cost for each one.

Step 3: Submit the required number of Chrysalis Sigils to spawn the boss. These sigils drop from Quincy enemies on the same island, so you'll want to farm a stockpile before starting your boss runs. Having enough sigils to chain multiple spawns back-to-back saves significant time.
Step 4: Fight the True Manipulator and deal at least 10% of the boss's total damage. This threshold is mandatory — if you fall below it, you won't be eligible for any loot drops, including the Evolution Fragment. Joining someone else's fight and contributing minimal damage will not work.

Evolution Fragment drop rate by difficulty
| Boss Difficulty | Approximate Drop Rate | Estimated Kills per Fragment |
|---|---|---|
| Lower difficulty | ~0.55% | ~182 |
| Higher difficulty | ~1.16% | ~86 |
Even at the highest difficulty, you're statistically looking at roughly 86 boss kills to expect a single fragment. At the lowest setting, that number nearly doubles. RNG can swing wildly in either direction, but the math makes one thing clear: running higher difficulties whenever possible is the single biggest factor in reducing your total grind time.
Farming the Evolution Fragment faster
Maximize damage output
Faster kills mean more attempts per session, which is the most direct way to improve your odds over time. Equip the strongest combination of races, fighting styles, Devil Fruits, and swords you have access to. The Blessing mechanic at Shibuya Station further amplifies sword and fighting style damage, letting you push higher difficulty spawns and clear them more quickly.

Stack your luck stat
Luck directly influences drop rates in Sailor Piece. Multiple systems contribute to your total luck value:
| Luck Source | How to Access |
|---|---|
| Titles | Equip titles with luck bonuses from the title system |
| Skill Tree | Spend points on luck nodes |
| Weapon Traits | Unlock better traits on your equipped weapons |
| Races | Certain races provide passive luck increases |
| Clans | Some clans offer luck bonuses |
| Runes | Equip runes that boost luck |
| Weekend Events | 2x/3x Luck events periodically run on weekends |
Building around luck before you start farming is worth the upfront investment. Even a modest increase in your luck stat compounds over dozens or hundreds of boss kills.
Pre-farm Chrysalis Sigils
Each boss summon costs Chrysalis Sigils, which drop from Quincy enemies on the Soul Dominion island. Farming a large batch of sigils before you begin your boss runs lets you chain spawns without interruption. Stopping mid-session to grind more sigils breaks your rhythm and wastes time.

What the Evolution Fragment unlocks
The Evolution Fragment feeds into two major late-game progression milestones. You'll need a total of three fragments if you're pursuing both.
True Manipulator Sword
This is one of the strongest weapons in the game. Purchasing it requires the following materials:
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Evolution Fragment | 1 |
| Transcendent Core | 3 |
| Divinity Essence | 8 |
| Fusion Ring | 15 |
| Chrysalis Sigil | 75 |
| Gems | 35,000 |
You also need to already own the base Manipulator Sword and hold the Transcendent Being title before you can submit these materials.
Ascension Level 9
Reaching Ascension Level 9 costs 2x Evolution Fragments alongside 2x Azure Hearts, plus completion of dungeons, boss rushes, and several other tasks. The full requirements also include reaching level 11,500, killing 1,500 NPCs, killing 700 bosses, dealing 1 trillion damage, using abilities 1,500 times, and clearing 15 Medium+ Boss Rushes. The reward for hitting Ascension 9 is a permanent buff of +10% Gems, +10% Money, and +5% Luck — which, ironically, would have helped with the fragment grind itself.

Total fragments needed
| Use | Fragments Required |
|---|---|
| True Manipulator Sword | 1 |
| Ascension Level 9 | 2 |
| Total | 3 |
At the best possible drop rate of 1.16%, three fragments translates to roughly 258 boss kills on average. Plan your farming sessions with that number in mind, and don't burn out trying to get all three in a single sitting. Spreading the grind across multiple play sessions — especially during 2x or 3x Luck weekend events — is a far more sustainable approach and can meaningfully cut down the total number of attempts you need.
