Shutterflash Memory Hunt is a limited-time photography event in Genshin Impact Version 6.3 “Luna IV.” Over eleven days, you travel across Teyvat with a new Kamera, recreating specific character poses and camera angles to unlock Primogems, Mora, EXP books, and Talent Level-Up materials.
Event schedule and basic rules
Shutterflash Memory Hunt runs from January 16, 2026, to January 26, 2026 (server time). Two new photo-taking spots unlock each day for the first five days, for a total of ten spots by January 20.
The event is split into small stages, each built around a single character and location. For each spot, you complete two phases:
- Pose phase — perform the correct attack or idle animation and capture the exact frame shown by a character silhouette.
- Composition phase — adjust zoom, angle, and framing so the character and background line up with the reference image.
Once you complete a spot for the first time, you claim rewards from the event menu. There is no penalty for retries, so you can repeat attempts until the game confirms the photo.

How to unlock Shutterflash Memory Hunt
The event is available to most mid-game accounts but still has some gating.
Mandatory requirements
- Adventure Rank 20 or higher.
- Archon Quest Prologue: Act III “Song of the Dragon and Freedom” completed.
Recommended but optional quests
The event connects to later storylines and character quests. For full context, you can complete:
- Archon Quest Chapter 5 Act 5 “Incandescent Ode of Resurrection.”
- Tribal Chronicles “Memories Flowing With Color”: Act III.
- Story Quests “Crystallina Chapter: Act I,” “Dulciaria Structura Chapter: Act I,” and “Aphros Delos Chapter: Act I.”
These are suggested for narrative reasons only; the gameplay challenges do not require them.
Unlock quest
Before the first photo spot appears, a short event quest introduces the new Kamera:
Step 1: Go to the Court of Fontaine and look for Ninette, the NPC tied to the event.
Step 2: Accept and complete the event quest “Hot in a Flash, or Cold Just as Fast?” to gain access to Shutterflash Memory Hunt and receive the event-exclusive Kamera.

How the photo system and scoring work
Every Shutterflash Memory Hunt attempt is judged on three main factors: pose timing, character alignment with the silhouette, and background composition.
Silhouette alignment
Each challenge displays a translucent silhouette over the Kamera view. The game checks:
- How closely your character’s outline matches the silhouette shape.
- Scale (zoom level) and on-screen position of the character.
- Facing direction; the character usually must start the action while facing a blue arrow on the ground.
Even small errors in size or position can drop the match percentage below the required threshold, so the zoom level is as important as timing.
Background composition
The scene also needs specific landmarks and horizon placement in frame. The event UI highlights the right area with markers near the optimal camera position. Once these elements are in place, you refine the angle around the character.
Feedback indicators
During composition, the UI uses colored highlights to show how close you are:
- Green indicators for correctly aligned elements.
- Yellow or red for things that still need adjustment.
Only when both character and background requirements meet the minimum threshold can you actually complete the stage.

Core Kamera controls and best practices
The event Kamera behaves like the standard gadget, but with slightly more precise control.
Zoom and distance
- You have several discrete zoom levels that map roughly to close-up, medium, and wide shots.
- Use zoom to get close to the right scale, then move forward or backward in small steps to fine-tune the character’s size against the silhouette.
Camera movement
- Horizontal rotation uses your normal look controls.
- Vertical angle covers roughly a 45-degree range above and below the horizon.
- A quick reset returns the camera to a neutral eye-level view if the framing goes off.
Pose timing: how to hit the right animation frame
Every target shot is tied to a specific moment in an attack string or idle loop. The game does not just check that you pressed the right button; it checks the exact animation frame.
Common pose triggers include:
- The third or fourth hit in a Normal Attack chain.
- The final motion of a Charged Attack.
- The end of a character’s first or second idle animation.
Idle animations usually start when a character stands still for several seconds and may cycle through multiple variants. Multi-hit attacks progress as you tap Normal Attack in sequence.
Reliable timing approach
Step 1: Stand on the blue arrow so the character faces the indicated direction, then stop moving.
Step 2: If the objective mentions an idle animation, wait through one or two full cycles to understand when the key pose appears (for example, when a weapon appears or a hand gesture completes).
Step 3: For Normal or Charged Attacks, count hits clearly out loud or in your head; snap the photo precisely at the listed hit or just as the last movement of a Charged Attack finishes.
When in doubt, watch for visual tells described in the stage notes below, such as a weapon disappearing or a character raising an arm to a specific height.

All current photo-taking points and exact pose instructions
The event rolls out photo spots in batches. The first eight have full details and concrete pose triggers.
Photo 1 — Maid-in-Training (Noelle)
Unlock date: January 16, 2026
Location: Knights of Favonius Headquarters, Mondstadt City.
Noelle is cleaning at headquarters. The target pose comes from her second idle animation.
Step 1: Place Noelle on the marker in front of the Knights of Favonius Headquarters and face the blue ground arrow.
Step 2: Do not move or attack; wait for her second idle animation to begin. She will start a polite motion leading into a head bow.
Step 3: Open the Kamera and capture the photo at the very start of Idle 2, just before she tilts her head down.
Step 4: In the composition phase, zoom in and tilt the camera slightly upward so her upper body matches the silhouette’s proportions.

Photo 2 — Sword Dance Atop the Waves (Eula)
Unlock date: January 16, 2026
Location: Cliff overlooking the Snow-Covered Path in Dragonspine, Mondstadt.
Eula’s target pose is part of her Normal Attack chain.
Step 1: Stand on the marked point at the cliff edge and make sure Eula faces the arrow toward the open air.
Step 2: In Kamera mode, press Normal Attack four times in a row without pausing.
Step 3: Take the picture during the fourth hit when Eula swings her claymore behind her body and holds it there.
Step 4: For composition, move to her left side and angle the camera slightly upward so her profile and sword match the outline.

Photo 3 — Leaves Rustling in the Breeze (Kazuha)
Unlock date: January 17, 2026
Location: Near the Statue of The Seven in Ritou, Inazuma.
This shot uses Kazuha’s third Normal Attack.
Step 1: Align Kazuha with the blue arrow on the ground, facing out toward the water and maples.
Step 2: In Kamera mode, tap Normal Attack three times in quick succession.
Step 3: Capture the photo on the third hit, when Kazuha lifts his sword upward.
Step 4: Shift the Kamera to his left side and focus on matching his head and torso with the silhouette. Treat the sword as secondary; a slightly imperfect sword angle is tolerated if the head and shoulders line up.

Photo 4 — The Scarlet Shadow of Tenshukaku (Yae Miko)
Unlock date: January 17, 2026
Location: Balcony at the front of Tenshukaku in Inazuma City.
Yae Miko’s pose comes from the end of her Charged Attack.
Step 1: Place Yae on the balcony marker, facing the arrow toward Tenshukaku.
Step 2: Hold Normal Attack to perform a Charged Attack, then watch the follow-through animation.
Step 3: Wait for her to make a fox-like hand sign with her right hand; take the picture at that final moment.
Step 4: During composition, prioritize aligning her entire body with the silhouette rather than chasing small details in her sleeves or hair.

Photo 5 — Lightning Over the Crimson Sands (Cyno)
Unlock date: January 18, 2026
Location: Khemenu Temple in the Sumeru desert region.
Cyno’s first idle animation drives this shot.
Step 1: Stand Cyno on the desert marker and face the arrow toward the distant ruins.
Step 2: Stop moving and wait for his Idle 1 to play. Near the end of the sequence, he summons his spear.
Step 3: Capture the photo at the moment his spear appears, and his pose settles.
Step 4: In the second phase, tilt the camera slightly upward, making sure both Cyno and his weapon follow the angles of the silhouette.

Photo 6 — Dance of Blooming (Nilou)
Unlock date: January 18, 2026
Location: Stage of the Zubayr Theater in Sumeru City.
Nilou’s composition is based on the finale of her Charged Attack dance.
Step 1: Put Nilou on the stage marker, facing the indicated direction across the theater.
Step 2: Use a Charged Attack and let the full animation play out. At the end, her weapon vanishes, and one hand lifts gracefully.
Step 3: Take the photo when her hand is raised, and the weapon is no longer visible.
Step 4: For alignment, raise the Kamera to a slightly high angle looking down, rotate so Nilou faces left in frame, and match the curve of her pose to the silhouette.

Photo 7 — Taste of Perfection (Escoffier)
Unlock date: January 19, 2026
Location: Inside Hotel Debord in the Court of Fontaine.
Escoffier’s shot uses her first idle animation, built around food tasting.
Step 1: Position Escoffier on the hotel marker, facing the arrow inside the dining area.
Step 2: Wait without moving until Idle 1 starts. She will sample food and her tail reacts.
Step 3: Capture the image at the end of Idle 1, just after she tastes the dish and her tail lifts upward.
Step 4: In composition, zoom in fairly close and angle the camera slightly to her left so her tail and hat line up as in the silhouette, with the tail almost level with the hat’s edge.

Photo 8 — Ruins of the Past (Skirk)
Unlock date: January 19, 2026
Location: Southern end of the New Fontaine Research Institute.
Skirk’s photo comes from the end of her Charged Attack.
Step 1: Place Skirk at the marked spot overlooking the research ruins and face the indicated arrow.
Step 2: Perform a Charged Attack with her polearm and let the animation complete.
Step 3: Take the photo at the final frame when her polearm is held behind her body.
Step 4: Angle the Kamera slightly upward and rotate so Skirk’s body turns to the left in frame, then match both her silhouette and the ruin structures in the background.

Practical setup and routing tips
The event is light on combat but does require a fair amount of travel across regions.
Before January 16
- Unlock nearby Teleport Waypoints and Statues of The Seven in Mondstadt, Dragonspine, Inazuma, Sumeru, and Fontaine, especially around the Knights of Favonius Headquarters, Ritou, Tenshukaku, Khemenu Temple, Sumeru City, Hotel Debord, and the New Fontaine Research Institute.
- Equip the Kamera in your quick-access gadget wheel so it is always a single input away.
During the event
- Group stages by region instead of clearing in numerical order; this significantly cuts down on loading screens and travel time.
- Use characters with movement or stamina passives for faster routing between waypoints when event markers are spread out.
- Adjust the in-game time when lighting clearly does not match the reference silhouette; some compositions are easier with similar sun position and shadows.
Clearing Shutterflash Memory Hunt is mostly about patience. If a pose keeps failing, slow down, watch the full animation several times, and capture on the next cycle rather than spamming the shutter. With correct timing and a bit of attention to camera angles, every stage is comfortably doable within the event window, and the Primogems-per-minute return is strong for a non-combat activity.
