The Huntress is one of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s most striking NPCs, a towering figure who turns a simple visit into a long farm. Meeting her in the Putrified Ducts kicks off “Broodfeast,” a collection-focused quest that asks you to bring back prepared organs in bulk — and rewards you with Longclaw when you’re done.

Huntress location (Putrified Ducts) and prerequisites

You’ll find the Huntress inside a hut perched above the parasite-choked waters of the Putrified Ducts. Guidance from early routes points to reaching the Ducts after obtaining the Faydown Cloak guide, with two practical approaches: slip in via the Memorium’s hidden entrance or come up from Bilewater once you’ve cleared Groal. The hut sits roughly near the lower middle of the Ducts map.

Item Details
NPC Huntress
Region Putrified Ducts (hut above parasite-infested pools)
Access notes Reachable after gaining the Faydown Cloak guide; routes via Memorium’s secret path or post-Groal Bilewater path
Timing Missable — becomes inaccessible in Act 3 if you haven’t met her earlier

Start the Broodfeast quest (conversation and missable timing)

Enter the hut and exhaust the Huntress’s dialogue to initiate Broodfeast. If you plan to pursue it, make contact before Act 3 — the NPC is no longer available later if you never triggered the encounter earlier in your run.

Broodfeast requirements (seared, shredded, skewered organs)

Broodfeast asks for prepared organs in three forms — seared, shredded, and skewered — and it wants a lot of them. The quest total is 60 ingredients across these categories. You’re free to hunt most living foes to collect them; mechanical constructs don’t count.

Requirement How it works
Eligible enemies Any living enemy (non-mechanical)
Preparation types Seared organs, shredded organs, skewered organs
Total needed 60 combined

How to collect organs efficiently (tools and kill conditions)

Silksong’s tools drive what drops you get — and for Broodfeast, the tool you’re using determines whether a kill yields seared, shredded, or skewered organs. You don’t need to deal all the damage with the tool, but the tool must deliver the final hit for the right organ type to drop.

  • Use tool finishers: Weaken enemies with standard attacks, then swap to the appropriate tool for the killing blow.
  • Farm soft targets: Pilgrims are among the easiest to harvest consistently; early-game zones with weak enemies reduce guesswork and shard costs.
  • Manage shards and damage: Upgrading your tool pouch at least twice helps tools hit harder, speeding kills and lowering repair frequency.
Tip: If you’re unsure about enemy health, stick to low-HP mobs in starter areas. It’s faster to chain clean last hits there than to juggle tougher targets that soak multiple tool uses.

Reward for completing Broodfeast (Longclaw)

Bring back the full set, and the Huntress grants Longclaw. It’s a single, tangible payoff for a lengthy farm and the clear endpoint for the questline.

Background: early teases and role in Silksong

The Huntress was first teased years before release through community riddles, appearing under the name “Styx.” In the game, she reads as a thematic foil to the Hunter from Hollow Knight — obsessed with prey and progeny, but ultimately an NPC anchored by a single, demanding quest.

If you’ve just entered the Ducts, it’s worth meeting the Huntress early to avoid the Act 3 lockout. From there, focus on clean tool finishers and simple mobs; Broodfeast is a grind, but it’s straightforward once you control the last-hit condition.
