The Spire of Frost is an optional challenge location in Crimson Desert, situated in a frozen landscape along the border of Demeniss and Beighen. The structure sits at the southeastern tip of Pailune, accessible by traveling east from Beighen village. Completing this puzzle rewards you with unique loot and opens access to the Passage of Malice Abyss branch.
Quick answer: Enter the Spire of Frost by melting the ice on the southern entrance lantern with fire or Blinding Flash, then light all seven stone lanterns inside to complete The Frostwarden quest and unlock the Abyss Gate.
Preparation and hazards
The frozen environment surrounding the Spire of Frost inflicts cold damage that can freeze your character for several seconds. Antumbra wizards patrol the area, launching energy projectiles from the air. Equip armor pieces and Abyss Gears with ice resistance bonuses before attempting this location. The Reindeer Cloak, found at a research site south of Scholastone, provides level 5 ice resistance and significantly reduces environmental damage.
Entering the Spire of Frost
The entrance is located on the southern side of the tower. A frozen stone lantern blocks the doorway. Use Blinding Flash and press the Concentrating Light prompt to melt the ice, or strike it with fire-imbued or explosive weapons such as spears and arrows. Once the ice melts, interact with the lantern to light it manually. The door opens immediately after lighting this first lantern.
Lighting the seven stone lanterns
Your objective is to locate and light all seven stone lanterns scattered throughout the interior and exterior sections of the spire. The entrance lantern counts as the first, leaving six more to find.
Lantern 2: Climb the interior spiral staircase from the entrance. The second frozen lantern appears partway up the steps. Break the ice with fire or an explosion, then light it manually.
Lantern 3: Turn right at the top of the interior stairs and proceed up the exterior spiral steps. The third lantern is positioned along this outdoor path. Light it after melting the ice.
Lantern 4: Continue ascending the interior staircase. The fourth lantern is located on one of the upper floors inside the tower. Melt the ice and light it.
Lantern 5: This lantern is found on another section of the exterior spiral staircase as you continue climbing.
Lantern 6: When you exit back outside after lighting the fourth lantern, the sixth lantern is visible along the outer steps.
Lantern 7: The final lantern is located in the chamber near the top of the tower. Light it to complete the sequence.
Rewards and collectibles
At the bottom of the spiral steps inside the spire, a chest contains the Frozen Anguish two-handed sword and a Refined Palmar Pill. Use your Axiom Force grapple to seal Abyss Cells into your Kuku Iron Pot as you ascend. Two Abyss Cells are located along the exterior staircase sections.
Completing The Frostwarden quest
Lighting all seven lanterns completes The Frostwarden side quest. A notification confirms quest completion, and you receive Frostwarden Plate Boots as a reward. The Spire of Frost region is marked as liberated by the Greymanes faction.
An Abyss Gate appears in the top chamber after the final lantern is lit. Interact with the gate to enter the Passage of Malice, the first stage of the Abyss branch connected to this location. The gate remains accessible for future visits.
