Premium Wood is the third tier of wood in Starsand Island, sitting above Softwood and Hardwood in the crafting hierarchy. The in-game inventory description says it drops from "giant trees," but no tree in the game is actually labeled "Giant Tree" — which makes tracking it down more confusing than it needs to be. The trees you're looking for are called White Fig trees, and you'll need a Machete to chop them.
Quick answer: Chop down White Fig trees with a Machete to get Premium Wood. White Figs grow near the Explorer's Club and around Cloudrest Lake on the northern side of the island. You can also buy Premium Wood from Zerine's General Store for 25 coins once you reach Senior Crafter rank.

White Fig tree locations
White Fig trees don't grow on your property, so you'll need to leave your farm to find them. The most reliable cluster is around the Explorer's Club area — they grow from roughly the shooting range up through the explorer quest giver's zone. These trees regrow every in-game day, making this a dependable farming route.
White Figs are also found on the northern side of the island, particularly around Cloudrest Lake. Players have reported another solid cluster on the small island opposite Blue Beach (sometimes referred to as Windflute Island), which has the added bonus of beehives nearby. If you've unlocked the hoverboard, the empty lot island behind your house has a few White Fig trees as well, though it's less practical without that mobility option.
Despite the "giant tree" label, White Figs aren't dramatically larger than Banyan trees. They're distinguishable mainly by name when you approach them, not by some towering silhouette on the horizon. Each White Fig drops Premium Wood alongside Softwood and Hardwood, so you'll collect all three wood types from a single tree.

Crafting the Machete
You cannot harvest Premium Wood with an Impact Axe — the game requires the next tool tier up. The Machete is the third-tier chopping tool, and it replaces your axe entirely once crafted. Beyond unlocking Premium Wood harvesting, the Machete cuts trees faster and has a wider swing arc that can hit multiple objects at once, clearing nearby shrubs as you chop.
To craft a Machete, you need these materials:
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Iron Sheets | 4 |
| Bronze | 3 |
| Hardwood Planks | 4 |
| Radiant Crystals | 2 |
| Impact Axe | 1 |
You'll also need a Worktable II to craft the Machete, and the blueprint must be purchased from Zerine's shop if you don't already have it. Upgrading your Worktable to level two is part of Zerine's Crafter questline, so you'll naturally reach that milestone as you progress through her tasks.
The Worktable upgrade itself requires 3 Iron Ingots, 3 Glass Panes, and 4 Softwood Planks. Make sure you have both the Worktable II and the Machete blueprint before gathering your crafting materials — there's no point stockpiling Iron Sheets if you can't use them yet.

Buying Premium Wood from Zerine's General Store
If you'd rather skip the chopping entirely, Premium Wood can be purchased for 25 coins each from Zerine's General Store under the Materials tab. There are two prerequisites, though. First, you need to reach Senior Crafter rank through Zerine's questline. Second, you must unlock the Supply Boost skill from the Workpedia app on your in-game phone — without it, shops won't stock raw materials at all.
The store's stock refreshes daily, but a Workpedia perk lets you trigger additional refreshes throughout the day. This makes purchasing a viable way to stockpile Premium Wood quickly, especially if you have coins to spare.

NPC gifts — Unreliable but free
Talking to NPCs around the island occasionally yields a piece of Premium Wood as a random gift. This method is entirely luck-based, gives only one piece at a time, and can't be controlled or repeated on demand. It's a nice bonus when it happens, but not something to rely on for any recipe that needs multiple pieces.
What Premium Wood is used for
Premium Wood is a key material for higher-level inventory upgrades. Given how many crafting materials, farm supplies, and animal care items compete for bag space in Starsand Island, expanding your inventory becomes essential fairly quickly. You'll also encounter Premium Wood requirements in various advanced crafting recipes as you progress past the mid-game.
Before heading out to farm White Figs, craft your Machete first. The wider swing and faster chopping speed make the harvesting run significantly more efficient, and you'll clear brush blocking your path without extra effort. Once you've established a regular route through the Explorer's Club or Cloudrest Lake area, keeping a steady supply of Premium Wood shouldn't be a problem.
