“Above and Beyond Repair” is a Paradise Island side quest that branches off the main mission, The Saboteur of Paradise. It’s Kaur’s direct-action route into the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Center (ARC), and it sets up your next push against the Vox. The beats are straightforward: pick a patron in Fairfield, infiltrate the ARC, complete a short set of technical objectives, and choose whether to break the facility or bring it back online. That choice determines your rewards and which quest log updates you’ll see.

Unlock Above and Beyond Repair (choose Kaur in Fairfield)

At Fairfield’s town hall during The Saboteur of Paradise, speak with Minister Milverstreet and Acquisitions Officer Kaur. Decline Milverstreet’s request, then accept Kaur’s job to start Above and Beyond Repair.

Note: Taking Kaur’s contract locks you out of Milverstreet’s side quests, including A Refreshing Bit of News and The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice! This path is missable if you commit to Milverstreet instead.

Enter the Automech Repair Center (three approaches)

The ARC sits on Euphoria Coast east of Fairfield. You can get inside in one of three ways:

  • Access card: Use valid ARC credentials to pass through peacefully.
  • Skill checks: Talk your way in without credentials if your conversational or technical checks pass.
  • Violence: Force entry by fighting through security.
Tip: Entering peacefully keeps interactions with the Protectorate civil even if you later choose an outcome that fails Kaur’s task.

ARC objectives: gas, amplifier, and the shield gadget

Inside, you’ll be guided through a short chain of objectives before you can make the pivotal choice. The quest log lists them in this order:

  • Collect Zyranium Gas.
  • Obtain a Catalytic Amplifier:
    • Take one from a destroyed Dragoon (on-site salvage).
    • Convince Chief Mechanist Woodrow to hand one over (dialogue route).
    • Use a Holo-Emitter to secure it (deception route).
  • Receive the Shield Gadget from Delphinia.

If you entered with violence and burned bridges, the shield gadget has an alternate acquisition route noted in the quest log; otherwise, Delphinia provides it as part of the standard flow.

Sabotage the ARC or save it (choice and consequences)

With components in place, you can either cripple the ARC or stabilize it. The game presents this as a clear fork:

Choice Quest outcome Rewards Notes
Sabotage the ARC Completes Above and Beyond Repair 1080 XP; Designator Triple Barrel Shotgun; Kaur’s Kuirass; +3 Auntie’s Choice reputation Locks you out of Vanquishing the Vexing Vapors’ rewards
Fix the ARC Fails Above and Beyond Repair; completes Vanquishing the Vexing Vapors 1080 XP; Repeating Rifle Explosive Rounds + Ammo Recipe; The Dose (helmet); 1,000 Bits If you entered peacefully, the Protectorate remains civil. You can still report back to Kaur to continue her storyline, but you won’t get the shotgun, armor, or reputation from her quest.
Note: If you opt to save the facility after a peaceful entry, the fix path typically involves repairing electrical conduits before shutting down the Zyranium flow. If you’ve been hostile, expect tougher access to the same controls.

What you get for siding with Kaur (reward recap)

Action XP Unique items Bits Reputation
Sabotage the ARC (complete Kaur’s quest) 1080 Designator Triple Barrel Shotgun; Kaur’s Kuirass +3 Auntie’s Choice
Fix the ARC (fail Kaur’s quest) 1080 Repeating Rifle Explosive Rounds + Ammo Recipe; The Dose (helmet) 1,000

Quest flow after the ARC decision

Turn in to Kaur after you resolve the ARC. If you sabotage the facility, you’ll receive the shotgun, armor, and Auntie’s Choice reputation bump, and Kaur will push you toward Ascent in the Howling Tower to soften up the Vox Relay’s defenses. If you saved the ARC, you can still brief Kaur to keep her arc moving, but you won’t receive her quest’s item and reputation rewards.

Lockouts and planning your run

  • Choosing Kaur’s job immediately disables Milverstreet’s side-quest line. Hear both out in Fairfield before committing if you’re chasing specific rewards or role‑play outcomes.
  • Above and Beyond Repair is flagged as missable because it depends on that choice. If you want Kaur’s shotgun, armor, and Auntie’s Choice reputation, you must take her side and follow through with sabotage.
  • If you value the alternate gear and cash, a peaceful entry plus a repair route completes Vanquishing the Vexing Vapors and keeps Protectorate relations cordial.

The decision here is less about difficulty and more about your build and faction aims. Kaur’s route pays out a powerful shotgun, a named armor piece, and faction standing; fixing the ARC trades that for a rifle mod recipe, a situational helmet, and cash. Either way, the story keeps moving—report back to Kaur and prepare for the Howling Tower.
