The Outer Worlds 2 spreads its campaign across six explorable destinations at launch. Four of them are full planetary sandboxes where the bulk of quests and faction politics play out; two are spaceborne hubs that function as commerce and mission stops. As you advance the main story, your starmap expands and new stops come online.
How many locations you can visit
There are six total destinations in the Arcadia system:
- Eden
- Dorado
- The ACS Undisputed Claim
- Free Market Station
- Cloister
- Praetor
In practice, players spend most time on four core planets (Eden, Dorado, Cloister, Praetor), while ACS Undisputed Claim and Free Market Station operate as space hubs with trading and side content. This split is why some overviews describe the game as having “four main planets” alongside several smaller locations.

All planets and stations (unlock order, vibe, and role)
| Name | Type | When it unlocks | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eden | Planetary moon | Early game (your first destination) | Arcadia’s most populous colonized moon, with breathable air and lush, windswept terrain. A sprawling “green” biome with pockets of conflict cutting through its jungle and coastal zones. |
| Dorado | Planet | After completing the main quest “The Saboteur of Paradise” | A harsh, sea-less world prized for ore. Expect sunbaked rock, open desert basins, and resource sites driving local power struggles. |
| The ACS Undisputed Claim | Space hub | Main story progression (midgame) | Headquarters for Auntie’s Choice and one of Arcadia’s busiest trade nodes. Neon signage, dense storefronts, and a constant churn of buying and selling. |
| Free Market Station | Space station | Main story progression (midgame) | A black-market outpost built into the husk of a crashed Auntie’s Choice ship. Operated by the Sub Rosa, it’s where contraband and “misplaced” goods move quickly. |
| Cloister | Planet | After completing the main quest “Fiends in High Places” | A frozen world whose permafrost cools the Archive, a massive supercomputer. Quiet, snowbound settlements and austere facilities break up the ice fields. |
| Praetor | Planet | After completing the main quest “Fiends in High Places” | Constant electrical storms and night-stalking predators make this one of the system’s most dangerous landing zones. Navigation and combat are shaped by volatile weather. |
How the map expands
The starmap doesn’t dump everything on you at once. Finishing primary missions updates your navigation list, revealing new planets and stations in stages. Early on, the campaign introduces Eden as a narrative starting point and then pivots to Dorado. Midgame opens access to the major commerce hubs (ACS Undisputed Claim and Free Market Station). A late-story inflection point unlocks Cloister and Praetor together, broadening the faction calculus and encounter variety.
Travel and fast movement
Travel happens from your ship’s navigation terminal. Pick any unlocked destination and plot a course; you’ll arrive at the planet’s or station’s main touchpoint and can branch into local zones from there. Once you’ve discovered landmarks within a destination, you can fast travel between them to cut down on backtracking.
What each world emphasizes
- Eden: Dense foliage, layered settlements, and “frontier urban” pockets where story choices ripple through factions over time.
- Dorado: Wide-open sightlines, mineral claims, and traversal across exposed rock that favors long-range engagements and route planning.
- ACS Undisputed Claim: A vertical maze of storefronts, contracts, and corporate offices—ideal for bartering, outfitting, and quest pickup.
- Free Market Station: Compact, high-density corridors with gray-market vendors, side errands, and opportunities to fence loot.
- Cloister: Low-visibility snowscapes, research sites, and the Archive’s facilities, with cold-weather hazards shaping your approach.
- Praetor: Weather-driven combat and navigation, timed movement between safe windows, and hostile fauna after dark.
Why you’ll see “four main planets” and “six total”
Both statements are true. The campaign is structured around four primary planetary destinations where most questlines, combat, and exploration unfold. Two additional spaceborne locations round out the itinerary with commerce, side quests, and narrative detours. Count the full set and you get six places to visit; focus on the big sandboxes and you’ll hear four.

If you’re just starting out, the simplest path to seeing everything is to stay on the critical path until your starmap stops growing. Eden, Dorado, Cloister, and Praetor carry the narrative weight; ACS Undisputed Claim and Free Market Station are where you regroup, rearm, and stir up trouble between jumps.
