The Giveaway emote in Where Winds Meet is a core social action for sect errands, Jianghu reputation, and multiplayer rewards. It is not unlocked through the main story; you have to pick it up in the multiplayer hub at the Merit Pool near Blissful Retreat.
Where the Giveaway emote comes from
Giveaway is an unlockable emote tied to the Multiplayer version of Blissful Retreat. You get it by speaking to a specific NPC, Le Yuan, at the Merit Pool — a large fountain slightly west of Blissful Retreat on the Qinghe coast. The Merit Pool only exists in multiplayer mode, so it will not appear if you are playing solo.
Once learned, Giveaway is added permanently to your emote list under the Solo tab and can be used both at the Merit Pool and out in the world.
Switch to multiplayer and find the Merit Pool
Step 1: Switch your world to Multiplayer or Online mode. The Merit Pool and its NPC will not spawn in solo mode, even if you stand at the right coordinates.
Step 2: Open your Map menu and change the map view to Multiplayer using the toggle in the top-left of the screen. This switches the map to show multiplayer hubs rather than only solo locations.
Step 3: Locate Blissful Retreat on the Qinghe region map. On the west side of Blissful Retreat, near the coast, look for a location labeled Merit Pool. You can fast travel to the nearest waypoint and ride or run the rest of the way.
Step 4: Travel to the Merit Pool marker. In multiplayer mode, the marker corresponds to a large fountain near the shoreline, which acts as the Merit Pool area.

Talk to Le Yuan to unlock the Giveaway emote
Step 1: At the Merit Pool fountain, look for the NPC Le Yuan (sometimes rendered as Lu Yuan) standing beside the water. You need to be in multiplayer mode and in daylight for the fountain and NPC to reliably appear.
Step 2: Interact with Le Yuan and open the dialogue. Choose the first dialogue option, which leads to learning the Giveaway emote. Accept the prompt to have the emote added to your collection.

Step 3: After accepting, the Giveaway emote unlocks immediately. Le Yuan also prompts you to throw coins into the fountain, which is the intended way to start using the emote at the Merit Pool.
In many cases, using Giveaway repeatedly at the fountain unlocks extra multiplayer emotes such as Beg, Heart Gesture, and Eternal Vow. These unlocks are tied to interactions at the Merit Pool, so stay near the fountain while experimenting.
How to equip and use the Giveaway emote
Step 1: Open your Emotes Menu. On keyboard and mouse, press F2. On controller, use the emote shortcut button shown in your control layout.
Step 2: Navigate to the Solo tab in the emote list. Giveaway is categorized as a solo emote even though it has multiplayer effects.
Step 3: Select Giveaway from the list and confirm to use it. Your character will perform the coin-toss animation toward nearby players or NPCs, depending on context.
You can perform Giveaway anywhere once it is unlocked, but certain effects — like temporary multiplayer emotes and sect errands — require specific locations or targets.

Giveaway emote uses at the Merit Pool
The Merit Pool does more than just unlock Giveaway. Using the emote in the fountain area temporarily grants extra multiplayer emotes and boosts social rewards.
- Temporary multiplayer emotes: Using Giveaway in the Merit Pool can temporarily unlock emotes like Beg, Heart Gesture, and Eternal Vow. These are designed for paired interactions with another player.
- Co-op performance rewards: When you perform these multiplayer emotes with another player at the Merit Pool, both of you can earn Coins, Experience, and the social currency Adventure Slips.
- Wealth Luck synergy: Players with the Merit Pool’s Wealth Luck buff gain extra Experience and Adventure Slips when other players use Giveaway on them while they are begging.

Using Giveaway for sect Jianghu errands
Sect systems in Where Winds Meet award reputation for completing Jianghu errands. Two of the simplest errands involve begging and giving money away, and both rely on the Beg and Giveaway emotes.
- Giveaway Jianghu Errand: One errand requires using Giveaway on beggars at the Heaven's Pier Begging Spot. Travel to this designated begging area, then use the Giveaway emote on beggars to progress the task.
- Player interaction requirement: Some sect tasks count only when interacting with other players, not NPC beggars. If coins thrown at NPCs do not move the daily counter, wait for players using Beg nearby and target them instead.
How Giveaway and Beg work together
Giveaway and Beg form a loop of cooperative emotes that both feed sect errands and generate currency.
- Unlocking Beg via Giveaway: Repeatedly using Giveaway at the Merit Pool fountain can unlock the Beg emote, along with other social actions.
- Begging for coins: When you use Beg and other players respond with Giveaway, you receive Commerce Coins. With Wealth Luck active, you also gain increased Experience and Adventure Slips.
- Completing errands as a pair: One player uses Beg, the other uses Giveaway. Both players tick progress on their respective sect errands and earn social rewards at the same time.
This loop is why the Giveaway emote quickly becomes a staple for anyone chasing sect reputation or social currencies. Unlock it early, bind it somewhere easy to access in your emote wheel, and use it often at the Merit Pool and official begging spots.

Once Giveaway is unlocked from Le Yuan at the Merit Pool and set in your emote menu, the rest is about timing and cooperation. Switch to multiplayer, head to the fountain, and you can clear daily sect errands, farm Adventure Slips, and build out your social emote set with just a handful of well-placed coins.
