Voidheart in Hytale: Where to find it and why it matters

Voidheart sits at the center of Hytale’s late-game progression. It’s an Epic-rarity item tied to the Void, used to push your crafting benches into the tier where Adamantine and Mithril equipment open up. It’s also deliberately scarce, which is why so many players run entire in-game nights without seeing a single drop.

What Voidheart is in Hytale

Voidheart is an Epic item that drops from Void-aligned enemies. In the game’s own flavor text, it is described as the still-beating heart of a greater denizen of the Void, and it can be found not only in creatures born there but in beings that have been twisted and corrupted by it.

Mechanically, Voidheart is both a high-end crafting ingredient and a key requirement for upgrading your armor crafting benches. It drops alongside more common Void loot such as Essence of the Void, but at a much lower rate.

Where Voidheart drops and which enemies to hunt

Voidheart is tied to Void or Void Spawn enemies across Orbis, but not every Void creature is equally efficient to farm. Drops are rare in all cases, so the goal is to maximize how many high-value Void enemies you can kill per night cycle.

Enemy Type Zone / Biomes Notes for farming
Void Eye Flying, tentacled Void entity Zone 3 (icy, flat biomes; snow/Whisperfrost‑style areas) Most commonly farmed for Voidheart; spawns at night and often hovers over ground Void mobs.
Void Spectre Glowing skeletal “ghost” Void enemy Zone 3, higher‑tier or “spooky” sub‑biomes Appears less often than Void Eyes but can also drop Voidheart.
Void Spawn warriors / larger skeletons Ground melee Void units Void‑infested areas in mid‑ to high‑tier biomes (including deserts and cold biomes) Harder to kill; players report strong Voidheart drop rates from these “elite” variants.
Other Void creatures that drop Essence of the Void Various (crawlers, hatchlings, etc.) Any Void‑tainted area Can drop Voidheart, but odds appear lower than for elite units.

Best biomes and zones to farm Voidheart

Void spawns cluster in specific parts of Orbis, and some terrain makes them far easier to spot and chain-kill.

Zone 3 icy plains (Borea / Whisperfrost-style snow biomes). Flat, snow-covered areas in Zone 3 are one of the most efficient places to farm Void Eyes. The white ground and open sightlines make the large flying eyes stand out, and multiple Void Eyes often patrol the same stretch of sky at night. These enemies frequently appear above skeletal Void Crawlers and other ground units, letting you farm several Void mobs in a single encounter.

Desert and Everglade-style “spooky” regions. Void activity is high in harsher biomes. Players consistently encounter Void Eyes and ground-based Void warriors in desert regions, especially in darker or otherwise ominous sub-biomes. Swampy or bog-like “spooky” pockets near early areas can also host Void activity, though they tend to be less dense than late-zone snowfields.

Higher-tier cold biomes (Whisperfrost equivalents). Late-game frozen regions feature stronger Void enemies and appear to favor the more elite variants, including Void Spectres and heavily armed skeletons. While the terrain can be more difficult, the higher enemy tier often correlates with better Voidheart drop chances per kill.

Areas described as burning or scorched islands show noticeably fewer Void Spawn and are less effective for farming. Focus on cold, desert, and wild overgrown regions with evident Void corruption instead.

How Voidheart drop rates behave

Voidheart is built as a low-chance drop. You can go through several nights with only Essence of the Void and other loot before seeing a heart. That randomness is intentional, but some patterns are clear.

  • Nighttime only for meaningful farming. The bulk of Void Eyes, Void Spectres, and stronger Void warriors spawn after dark. Sleeping through nights severely reduces your chances of getting hearts. If you want Voidhearts, you should plan to stay up and roam.
  • Void Eyes are frequent but not guaranteed. Flying Void Eyes often appear in groups. Killing five to ten of them in one night in a good Zone 3 biome is reasonable, but you should not expect a heart from every kill. Rough anecdotal runs show you can kill several before seeing one drop.
  • Elite ground units may outpace fodder. Bigger skeleton-like Void warriors that wield swords or otherwise hit harder tend to feel more rewarding to farm. They are fewer in number than crawlers and hatchlings, but drops from them have been reported at noticeably higher rates.
  • Any Void enemy that drops Essence of the Void can drop a heart. If a creature is Void-aligned and drops Essence of the Void, it is a candidate for Voidheart as well. The practical difference is that smaller creatures simply have worse odds and are slower to farm.

Tip: if you are spending in-game days galloping quickly through Zone 3 on a mount and seeing nothing, try slowing down or exploring on foot. Moving too fast can cause you to outrun spawns or leave areas before Void packs fully appear.

Night-time farming loop for Voidheart

A reliable Voidheart routine uses short, repeatable patrols rather than wandering aimlessly. The goal is to maximize encounters with Void Eyes and elite ground mobs each night.

Step 1: Set a base near a strong Void biome. Place your shelter and key benches on the edge of a snow or desert region known to host Void Eyes and Void Spawn. This minimizes travel time when night falls and gives you a safe place to retreat.

Step 2: Mark a patrol circuit you can clear in one night. During the day, ride or walk a loose loop across the flattest parts of the biome, noting where you regularly see Void Crawlers, bones, or other signs of corruption. That circuit will become your night route.

Step 3: Stay awake when night begins and start your loop. As sunset hits, leave your bed alone and head directly into your marked route. Scan the sky for the distinctive large eyes and watch the horizon for glowing skeletons.

Step 4: Prioritize flying eyes and elite skeletons.

When you spot multiple Void enemies, focus first on the flying eyes and any large sword-wielding skeletons or Void warriors under them. Pick off crawlers and hatchlings only when they are in your way or grouped with higher-value targets.

Step 5: Finish the loop and reset.

Once dawn breaks and Void spawns thin out, finish your current skirmish and return to base. Sort out loot, repair gear, restock food, and be ready to repeat the run the next night.

Using Voidheart to upgrade crafting benches

Voidheart is a gate for late-game armor and, eventually, weaponry. The most impactful early use is upgrading your armor-focused bench.

Armorer’s Workbench / Armor bench upgrades. You need three Voidhearts to reach the higher tiers of your armor bench. Alongside Voidheart, the upgrade recipe draws on other late-game materials such as Thorium, Cobalt, Chitin, and Shadoweave Scraps. Investing hearts here unlocks the ability to craft Adamantine and Mithril armor tiers in Explorer-style survival modes, rather than relying solely on found gear or creative mode.

Tip: plan to collect more than three hearts before performing the upgrade, so you have a buffer for future recipes without having to pause your progression and go straight back to farming.

Voidheart, Adamantine, and Mithril gear

Voidheart’s importance becomes clearer once you look at how it connects to Hytale’s metal tiers.

Adamantine armor. At the current early access stage, Adamantine is treated as the top-end armor set in Explorer mode. Upgrading the armor bench with Voidhearts is a prerequisite for crafting Adamantine pieces, making the hearts an indirect requirement for building the strongest survivable kit you can actually craft in normal play.

Mithril armor and weapons. Mithril occupies a step beyond Adamantine in the item hierarchy. The crafting menus include Mithril weapons on the Blacksmith’s Anvil and Mithril armor on the high-tier armor bench, and these recipes show Voidheart as a required component. In practice, Mithril ore and ingots are not yet available to mine in Explorer modes, so these endgame Mithril sets are currently limited to creative-style play or future updates. Even so, Voidhearts already appear in the recipes, signaling that you will need one Voidheart per Mithril weapon craft and multiple hearts to fully embrace that tier once it becomes accessible.

Because Mithril is not yet part of the regular gathering progression, it is worth holding onto at least one spare Voidheart, even after you finish your bench upgrades and initial Adamantine set. That way, when content updates add Mithril ore and ingots, you will not be starting your farming from zero.

Practical recommendations for farming and spending Voidheart

Voidhearts are rare on purpose, but you can smooth out the grind by treating them like any other late-game bottlenecked resource.

  • Farm in short, focused bursts. A handful of productive nights in a good snow or desert biome will outpace hours of aimless riding across Zone 3.
  • Stick to Void-heavy biomes. Everglade-like wilds, deserts, and cold Whisperfrost-style regions with clear signs of Void corruption pay off more than neutral or burnt areas.
  • Target elite Void enemies first. Flying Void Eyes, Void Spectres, and large Void warriors are the most worthwhile kills. Crawlers and hatchlings are clean-up.
  • Spend your first hearts on bench upgrades. Unlocking higher armor tiers with three hearts is a permanent progression boost; Mithril weapons will only matter once Mithril mining is in regular Explorer progression.
  • Bank at least one extra heart. Keeping a spare Voidheart prepares you for future content drops that turn currently theoretical Mithril recipes into something you can actually use.

Once you treat Voidheart as a strategic bottleneck rather than a random trophy, the grind starts to feel more controlled. A good route, a few late-game nights, and a clear plan for where each heart goes are enough to push your character into Hytale’s strongest available armor tier and set you up for whatever the Void brings next.
