Where Winds Meet Bell of Demoncalm repair and world boss nerf

The Bell of Demoncalm is one of the most impactful world interactions in Where Winds Meet. Once repaired and rung, it applies a permanent debuff to all world bosses in the Qinghe region, lowering their damage and defenses and making late‑game roaming much less punishing. Getting it working again, though, means finishing a long Oddity grind and navigating a half‑collapsed bell tower.

What the Bell of Demoncalm does

Mechanically, the Bell of Demoncalm is a regional switch for world boss difficulty in Qinghe. After you repair and ring it:

  • All Qinghe world bosses receive a permanent debuff.
  • The debuff reduces both their damage output and their defense values.
  • The world map UI marks affected bosses, indicating that the bell’s effect is active.

This makes it easier to challenge bosses while under‑leveled or experimenting with less‑optimized builds, and it turns Qinghe into a more forgiving farming region.

Where to find the Bell of Demoncalm

The bell is not in a random cave; it sits in a very visible landmark in Qinghe.

Detail Location
Region Qinghe
Area Moonveil Mountain
Structure Peace Bell Tower (old bell tower)
Exact spot Topmost interior floor, level housing the large broken bell

On the overworld, look for Moonveil Mountain in midwestern lower Qinghe, south of Moonveil Stream. The Peace Bell Tower dominates the skyline at the summit.

From the wider Qinghe map, a reliable route is:

  • Travel toward Blissful Retreat.
  • Head south from Blissful Retreat up the mountain slope until you encounter an Aureate Brigand camp.
  • Clear the brigands and continue up the main road to reach a nearby Waystone and then the Peace Bell Tower entrance.

At the tower entrance, a bellwright NPC explains that a duel between powerful martial artists shattered the bell and damaged the structure. You can enter and climb immediately, but without the missing fragment, you can only loot a few chests and inspect clues; the key function of the bell remains locked.

How to climb the Peace Bell Tower

The interior of the Peace Bell Tower is broken and partially blocked. You have to zigzag between the inside staircases and the outside scaffolding to reach the level with the bell.

Step Action
1 Face the shrine/tower entrance. From the entrance, move to the left side and climb the path along the exterior.
2 Enter the structure and follow the interior stairs until you reach a broken section with a window or wall breach.
3 Use exterior scaffoldings and platforms outside that opening to keep climbing upward.
4 Interact with ledges or use a double jump to pull yourself onto damaged roofs, then re‑enter via higher openings to reach new staircases.
5 Repeat this pattern: exit through a window, traverse a makeshift wooden bridge or cloth grapple point, then re‑enter higher up.
6 Eventually arrive at the interior level that houses the huge cracked Bell of Demoncalm. Interact with the bell to inspect it.

Climbing all the way to the roof also rewards an extra chest and a panoramic view of Qinghe, but the repair interaction itself happens at the level where the bell hangs.

Why the Bell of Demoncalm is broken

When you first reach the bell level, you find the Bell of Demoncalm hanging in place but visibly damaged. A sizeable section of its body is missing, preventing it from ringing. Inspecting the bell reveals:

  • The missing piece is a specific item called the Bronze Bell Fragment.
  • The bell can be repaired if you can obtain and fit this fragment.

The fragment is not hidden somewhere else in the tower and does not drop from random enemies. It is tied directly to a long‑term collection system in Qinghe: Melodies of Peace and Oddities.

How Melodies of Peace and Oddities work

The path to the Bronze Bell Fragment runs through an NPC named Qi Sheng and the Melodies of Peace interface.

Finding Qi Sheng

Qi Sheng appears early in the Qinghe progression and can be easy to forget later. His stall is located near the first Wayfarer of the Verdant Wilds, slightly further along the path toward General’s Shrine.

Qi Sheng manages the Melodies of Peace, a network of “Harmony” nodes arranged as diagrams. Spending Oddities on these nodes grants:

  • Stat bonuses such as extra Vitality and Endurance.
  • New abilities, including Lightness skills like Wallstride variants.
  • Special rewards at the deepest nodes, including the Bronze Bell Fragment.

You do not have to fill every node in the web. It is enough to unlock the sequence that leads from the starting nodes to the final node that awards the fragment, as long as you still meet the Oddity requirements for each node on that path.

Collecting Oddities efficiently

Oddities are a category within the “Sentient Beings” system and act as a regional collectible. They include objects like dagger‑shaped statues, poisonous purple flowers, red mushrooms, Whisper Hives, and similar curiosities scattered across the landscape.

Aspect How Oddities behave
Purpose Consumed to unlock Melodies of Peace nodes, including the Bronze Bell Fragment node.
Types required Any Oddity type works; nodes require a total count, not a specific species.
Map visibility Appear only on the minimap as small insect/butterfly icons, never on the main world map.
Availability Finite per region; once collected, they are gone permanently.
Tracking Progress can be checked in the Journal under Sentient Beings and through regional Oddities completion tools.

Because nodes never demand a specific Oddity type, you can simply gather whatever you encounter and pour everything into Qi Sheng’s diagrams. Still, the finite total means careless spending can leave you short for later nodes if you ignore entire sub‑regions.

One practical way to speed up Oddity hunting is to unlock a strong Grand Lightness skill such as Meteor Flight. This allows you to glide and dash long distances; you can then watch the minimap for butterfly icons and drop down any time an Oddity appears beneath you.

In Qinghe specifically, fully repairing the bell ultimately expects that you clear the region’s Oddities. The “Music of Yongping” — the final Melodies of Peace unlock for Qinghe — sits at the end of this path and is directly tied to the fragment reward.

How to unlock the Bronze Bell Fragment

Qi Sheng does not hand you the Bronze Bell Fragment immediately. You need to commit to Melodies of Peace in Qinghe.

Requirement What you must do
Melodies of Peace progress Advance through the Harmony nodes associated with Qinghe by feeding them Oddities.
Final melody Reach and complete The Music of Yongping, the last Melodies of Peace unlock for the region.
Oddity collection Effectively collect and submit all Oddities in Qinghe to satisfy the higher node costs.
Claiming the fragment Return to Qi Sheng’s stall and interact with his table to manually pick up the Bronze Bell Fragment.

After completing the necessary Harmony nodes, the Bronze Bell Fragment becomes obtainable through Qi Sheng’s Melodies of Peace interaction, rather than dropping automatically into your inventory. Make sure you physically search the table at his stall to claim it; otherwise, you can reach the Peace Bell Tower and still find yourself unable to repair the bell.

How to reach the bell again with the fragment

Once the fragment is in your inventory, return to Moonveil Mountain. The Waystone you unlocked near the Peace Bell Tower entrance makes this trivial: teleport there, talk to the bellwright again if you want the story recap, and start the climb.

The climb route is identical to your first visit:

  • Use the left‑side exterior path from the entrance.
  • Alternate between interior stairs and scaffoldings or ledges outside damaged windows.
  • Use grapples and double jumps where ledges are highlighted.
  • Re‑enter at the level that houses the Bell of Demoncalm.

If you explored thoroughly before, you can move quickly by focusing on the known path up to the bell level and ignoring side chests.

How to repair the Bell of Demoncalm

Repairing the bell is not a standard “submit item” interaction. The game switches you into a construction‑style placement mode to visually set the missing piece.

Stage Repair action
Interact Stand near the Bell of Demoncalm and interact with it. The game detects that you hold the Bronze Bell Fragment.
Construction Mode Instead of a simple confirmation prompt, the interaction opens Construction Mode centered on the bell.
Select fragment Choose the Bronze Bell Fragment from the available items within Construction Mode’s interface.
Place fragment Hover over the highlighted green outline on the broken section of the bell and confirm placement to “slot” the fragment in.
Finish Exit Construction Mode. The bell now appears visually whole and is ready to ring.

After placement, the Bell of Demoncalm is permanently repaired; the fragment is no longer treated as a separate item, and the bell behaves like a functional world object.

Ringing the bell and checking the world boss debuff

With the bell restored, interact with it again to ring it. Its sound is treated as echoing across the whole Qinghe region rather than as a local event, and the game acknowledges this with a completion title tied to Melodies of Peace.

From that point on:

  • World bosses located within Qinghe are flagged as affected by the Bell of Demoncalm.
  • Their boss entries on the regional map note that the bell’s effect is active.
  • Their actual combat performance drops, with reduced defense and lower outgoing damage.

The effect is permanent; you do not need to revisit the bell before each boss attempt. For players working through Qinghe’s world bosses for loot, achievements, or build testing, this turns the region into a long‑term “easier” zone once the investment into Oddities and Melodies of Peace is paid off.

Repairing the Bell of Demoncalm is a long detour from the main story — it demands almost complete Qinghe Oddity coverage and patience with a dense progression grid — but the payoff is a lasting safety net for every future trip through the region’s open‑world boss roster.
