Where Winds Meet Fire arrows: How to unlock, craft, and use them

Fire Arrows are one of the most useful consumables in Where Winds Meet, powering both combat and environmental puzzles. They are easy to burn through and much harder to replace if you do not know where the recipe and vendors are hidden.

This walkthrough breaks down every reliable way to get Fire Arrows, how to unlock the crafting recipe, and how to equip and conserve them on both keyboard/mouse and controller.

All ways to get Fire Arrows

Fire Arrows come from three main sources:

  • Buying directly from vendors
  • Crafting them from raw materials
  • Looting them in dungeons and puzzle areas

Buy Fire Arrows from vendors (early and repeatable)

Two general vendors sell Fire Arrows in large daily bundles:

Vendor Location Daily stock Price Reset
Xiong Da, Peddler Heaven's Pier in Qinghe 99 Fire Arrows 200 Coins each (19,800 Coins for full stock) Daily reset
Hu Niu'er, General Goods Kaifeng 99 Fire Arrows 200 Coins each (19,800 Coins for full stock) Daily reset

Vendors in Qinghe and Kaifeng also sell the materials needed for crafting (Copper, Timber, and Short Feathers), so they effectively function both as a direct ammo source and as a materials hub.

Other merchants in the world can sell Fire Arrows as well, with a similar daily cap of 99 per vendor, but Xiong Da and Hu Niu'er are the most straightforward options once you reach their cities.

Unlock the Fire Arrow crafting recipe

You cannot craft Fire Arrows until you earn the recipe. That recipe is gated behind an Archery Competition in Qinghe.

The relevant challenge sits near Riverside Station in the southwest corner of Qinghe:

  • Fast travel to Riverside Station.
  • Look toward the prison across the river; the Archery Competition NPC stands on the cliff opposite the Riverside Station Prison.

The NPC controlling this Sentient Being (Archery Competition) allows you to attempt a timed Fire Arrow barrel challenge.

Challenge requirement

To unlock the Fire Arrow recipe, you must:

  • Reach Grade A in this Archery Competition.
  • Destroy five explosive barrel targets with Fire Arrows within 10 seconds.

Once you hit all five barrels fast enough and earn Grade A, the Fire Arrow crafting recipe is added to your crafting menu.

Note: Players often find this much easier on mouse and keyboard than on a controller because of the tight 10-second window. If you are struggling on a controller and you have access to a PC login, switching input method can make the timing more forgiving.

Craft Fire Arrows and required materials

With the recipe unlocked, you can manufacture Fire Arrows in bulk.

Item Output per craft Materials required Other cost
Fire Arrow 20 Fire Arrows 2 × Copper
1 × Timber
2 × Short Feather
3 Crafting Stamina

Copper, Timber, and Short Feathers are all basic trade goods:

  • Copper can be bought from Xiong Da at Heaven’s Pier.
  • Timber and Short Feathers are sold through General Goods vendors in Qinghe and Kaifeng.

There are also gathering and specialty ways to earn Copper via artisan‑style activities, but buying from merchants is the most direct path when you only care about arrow crafting.

Where you can craft Fire Arrows

Fire Arrow crafting is available in two places:

  • At forges in the open world
  • Directly from your Bag inventory via the Craft menu

Method 1: Craft at a forge

Step 1: Open your map and set a waypoint on a nearby forge icon. Travel there by mount or fast travel.

Step 2: Interact with the forge and open the crafting interface.

Step 3: Navigate to the arrow section, select Fire Arrows, and confirm the number of batches you want to craft, as long as you have Copper, Timber, Short Feathers, and enough Crafting Stamina.

Method 2: Craft from the Bag inventory

You do not have to visit a forge once you know the recipe.

Step 1: Open your Bag inventory.

Step 2: In any Bag sub‑tab, look to the bottom‑right corner and select the Craft button.

Step 3: Choose Fire Arrows from the list of craftable items and confirm the craft, consuming materials, and Stamina for each batch of 20 arrows.

Using the Bag route is ideal when you suddenly run out mid‑quest or mid‑dungeon and do not want to backtrack to a forge.

Loot Fire Arrows in dungeons and puzzle areas

Divinecraft dungeons and puzzle rooms that revolve around fire mechanics often scatter Fire Arrows around the environment. You will see them near:

  • Torch‑lighting puzzles
  • Burnable wine jars and flammable objects
  • Explosive barrel arrangements meant to be shot from range

Some Divinecraft dungeons in and around Kaifeng lean heavily on Fire Arrow mechanics and reward large stockpiles for solving their puzzles. These drops can push your count into the hundreds if you clear them thoroughly.

Tip: If you are low on Fire Arrows and short on Coins or materials, running a few of these dungeons is an efficient way to restock without spending much money.

How to equip and switch to Fire Arrows

Unlocking and crafting Fire Arrows is only half the picture. You still need to know how to toggle them on and off so you do not waste them on trash enemies or pigeons.

Keyboard and mouse controls

Action Input
Equip Bow Scroll the mouse wheel up until the Bow is selected
Open arrow selection Hold ALT
Cycle arrow type While holding ALT, scroll the mouse wheel

Some players prefer to hold the right mouse button to aim before pressing ALT; both approaches reach the same radial selection and let you cycle between wooden, Fire, and later special arrow types.

Tip: When you only need to trigger an explosive barrel or puzzle, swap back to basic wooden arrows immediately afterward to avoid burning through your Fire Arrow stack in routine fights.

Controller controls

Action Input (controller)
Draw Bow Hold LT then press RT
Toggle arrow type Use the buttons bound to arrow cycling (commonly Y and A) while the bow is drawn

The exact face buttons can vary slightly with control layouts, but the pattern is consistent: hold the triggers to enter bow stance, then press the displayed buttons to switch arrow types.

What Fire Arrows do in combat and puzzles

Fire Arrows add a burning effect to your bow shots and interact with environmental hazards.

Property Effect
Damage type Physical arrow damage plus burning damage over time
Status effect Ignites targets, dealing damage over a short duration
Environmental use Detonates explosive barrels, lights torches, and ignites flammable objects like wine jars

That combination makes Fire Arrows essential for several early exploration puzzles, especially in Divinecraft dungeons and around torch sequences. They also give your bow meaningful chip damage against groups or tougher enemies, though you will usually want to save them for targets that justify the extra cost.

Checking where your Fire Arrows come from

If you forget where a particular arrow type is obtained, you can inspect it in your inventory:

Step 1: Open your Bag and locate the Fire Arrow stack.

Step 2: Highlight the item to view its details. The description includes acquisition methods such as crafting and store availability.

This is an easy way to remind yourself which vendors stock Fire Arrows or whether a given arrow type can be crafted at all.

Once the Archery Competition near Riverside Station is complete and the recipe is unlocked, Fire Arrows shift from a rare puzzle item to a routine consumable you can mass‑produce. Make a habit of visiting Xiong Da and Hu Niu'er for daily stock, keep a small reserve of Copper, Timber, and Short Feathers, and switch back to wooden arrows whenever you do not explicitly need fire. That is usually enough to ensure you never run dry again.
