Where Winds Meet: How to Find and Use the Hairstyle Mirror

The hair‑brushing mirror in Where Winds Meet is an easy thing to miss, and even easier to lose track of once you leave Heaven’s Pier. It lives in a specific house in Blissful Retreat and only becomes usable after you move the main story forward.

Mirror location in Blissful Retreat

The hairstyle mirror is inside your own house in Blissful Retreat, slightly south and uphill from the Blissful Retreat Boundary Stone/teleport point.

Step What to look for
1. Teleport Warp to the Blissful Retreat Boundary Stone.
2. Face south From the stone, look toward the cluster of houses on the slope south of the teleport.
3. Go uphill Climb the stairs or path up the hill; your house is on this upper level, not in the burned‑out village below.
4. Find the right house Look for the home tied to your Blissful Retreat story hub, with signposts outside and an archery target nearby that you cannot interact with.
5. Enter the bedroom Inside, head to the bedroom area; the usable mirror stands there against the wall.

Other houses in the area can also have mirrors, but those are decorative. Only the mirror inside your own Blissful Retreat house will let you brush your hair and unlock hairstyles.

Story and quest requirements for the mirror

The game does not let you use the mirror immediately. It is tied to the Heaven Has No Pier storyline in Qinghe, specifically to the sequence around Blissful Retreat and Heaven’s Pier.

Requirement Details
Main quest chapter Heaven Has No Pier (early story chapter set in Qinghe).
Key quest before mirror A Horse Neighs in the Forest. After returning home with Aunt Han at the end of this quest, the next quest begins.
Quest that anchors the house Dust in the Rhombus Mirror (also called Dust on the Rhombus Mirror in some text). This quest uses the Blissful Retreat house as its main hub.
Level gating During Dust in the Rhombus Mirror, you are asked to “wait for developments” and reach level 21 to continue the story, but the mirror feature itself unlocks once the Blissful Retreat house is established in that chain.

If you visit the house too early, the mirror either will not be there or will not be interactable. Progress through A Horse Neighs in the Forest into Dust in the Rhombus Mirror, let the story drop you into the Blissful Retreat home, and the mirror interaction will appear once this segment is active.

How the hair‑brushing mechanic works

The mirror is a small, limited‑time cosmetic reward system rather than a full salon. It pulls from the base character‑creation hairstyles and gives you the ones you did not pick at the start.

Mechanic Behavior
Daily uses You can brush your hair at the mirror up to two times per in‑game day.
Rewards Each successful brushing can grant one of the starter hairstyles you did not select during character creation.
Pool of styles The mirror only grants those unused default styles. It does not create brand‑new or premium hairstyles.
Total duration For most characters, brushing twice a day over about four days is enough to exhaust all free starter styles.
After you get everything Once every eligible hairstyle has been granted, the mirror stops being interactable as a reward source.

Players who hit the early level cap and kept brushing have reported that the mirror stopped working right when the last starter styles were unlocked. That is expected behavior: when there is nothing left to award, the interaction disappears or appears to “break.”

Why the mirror might not work

If you find the house but cannot use the mirror, or the mirror seems to have vanished, the game is usually enforcing one of several conditions rather than permanently locking you out.

Symptom Likely cause What to do
“Nothing comes up” when facing the mirror The story segment that enables the mirror is not active yet. Advance the Heaven Has No Pier main quests until you complete A Horse Neighs in the Forest and are settled in the Blissful Retreat home for Dust in the Rhombus Mirror.
Mirror is there but not interactable Wrong house, wrong game mode, or daily limit reached. Confirm you are in your own house (uphill from Blissful Retreat’s square), switch to solo mode, and try again after the daily reset.
Mirror used to work, now it never lights up All free starter hairstyles have already been claimed. Check your hairstyle list; if you see all the character‑creation options available, the mirror has fulfilled its role and will no longer grant rewards.
Village burned in the story; house seems gone Story event damage is cosmetic for that area only. Your Blissful Retreat house and mirror remain intact and revisitable even after the village burning sequence; re‑trace the path uphill from the teleport to find it again.
Mirror disappeared and later came back Minor state bug or refresh issue. These cases resolve themselves after a reset; if it reappears, simply resume normal use.

Online mode is another quiet restriction. The mirror interaction only appears in solo mode. If you are exploring in online/co‑op, the prompt to brush your hair will not show even in the right house; switch back to solo before checking the mirror.

Using the mirror efficiently for free styles

Because the mirror is capped at two uses per day and stops once you have everything, the most efficient way to squeeze value out of it is straightforward:

  • Start brushing as soon as the Blissful Retreat house becomes active in the Heaven Has No Pier chapter.
  • Interact with the mirror twice every in‑game day whenever you pass through the area.
  • Stop worrying about it once you notice the interaction has vanished and all starter hairstyles appear in your customization list.

There is no penalty for skipping days; the system does not “expire” unused styles. The only limit is that you cannot stockpile more than two brushes in a single day.

The hairstyle mirror is a small side flavor in a long main story, but it’s one of the earliest ways to build out a wider look without spending premium currency. Once you know that the real mirror is in your Blissful Retreat house, unlocked through Dust in the Rhombus Mirror and capped at two uses a day in solo mode, it becomes a quick detour rather than a frustrating mystery.
