Where Winds Meet Qianye boss location and combat strategy

Qianye is a high-difficulty main story and Campaign boss in Where Winds Meet, fought at Moonveil Mountain. She wields a double-bladed scythe, mixes fast melee strings with ranged waves, and gains a draining White-form later in the fight that punishes defensive play.

Qianye boss overview and location

Qianye is encountered first as part of Chapter 1 and then becomes a repeatable Campaign boss you can challenge for gear and materials.

Attribute Details
Name Qianye
Role Main quest boss and Campaign boss
Region Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe)
Specific area Blissful Retreat
Story requirement Progress Chapter 1 “For Whom Does He Return” until the objective directs you to complete the “Blissful Retreat” campaign
Difficulty ★★★★★
Replay format Campaign version unlocked on the map after the first clear
Campaign entry cost 20 Energy Points per run (replay)

On the first clear, Qianye is tied directly to the main storyline and must be defeated to advance from Qinghe’s Moonveil Mountain segment. Afterward, the boss appears as a separate Campaign node that can be run repeatedly, with rewards scaling alongside your World Level.

Qianye is tuned as an early but serious check on both gear and mechanical skill. Going in underleveled or with weak weapons greatly lengthens the fight and makes small mistakes lethal, especially once the draining White-form starts.

Category Recommendation Reason
Character level Around level 35 or higher Provides enough base health and damage to survive mistakes and meaningfully punish openings.
Weapon upgrade level Core DPS weapons at roughly level 40 Higher weapon levels increase both damage and stagger, which helps interrupt some of Qianye’s longer strings.
Primary martial art Panacea Fan Continuous self-healing makes you extremely hard to kill, allowing a safe, attrition-based approach that focuses on countering and Executing after draining Qianye’s Qi.
Alternative DPS weapon Infernal Blades Very rapid hits allow you to regain health aggressively during the White-form phase while maintaining strong damage output.
Mystic Art – utility Meridian Touch Can interrupt some of Qianye’s key attacks in both phases, knocking her down and cancelling dangerous follow-ups.
Mystic Art – sustain/defense Guardian Palm Adds extra survivability during long strings or when the health drain is active.
Mystic Art – mobility Leaping Toad, Cloud Steps Helps close gaps after dodging waves, or escape when she chains multiple sweeps.
Companion (first story clear) Ye Dao (tank companion) During the initial story fight, Ye Dao draws aggro in Phase 1, giving safer openings for you to learn her timings.
Healing and medicine Expanded medicine capacity and stocked flasks The White-form drains health over time; extra consumables give more room for error.

For reliable healing between attempts or to increase how many medicines you can carry, Yao Yaoyao at the Evercare Clinic in western Qinghe can heal wounds and expand medicine capacity in exchange for Medicinal Tales.

Phase 1 Qianye moves and strategy

Phase 1 takes place at Blissful Retreat with Qianye in her standard form. In the story version, Ye Dao joins as a tank, which softens the learning curve: let him enter first to pick up her attention, then move in to parry and punish.

The focus in this phase is on learning her basic melee strings and early wave attacks. Most red-flash melee swings can be parried, while golden wave attacks typically must be dodged.

Move Behavior and response
Upward Slash Short dash into an upward scythe swing. Time a parry as the blade rises, or sidestep the dash.
Sweeping Slash Qianye charges her weapon with a red glow and spins through a wide horizontal sweep. A well-timed perfect parry staggers her and opens a punish; otherwise, roll through or away from the arc.
Falling Double Wave She hops back, then rises into the air, glowing gold before sending two ground-level waves. These cannot be parried; roll sideways out of the wave lines.
Sweep to Single Wave Backstep into a charged red sweep followed by a single wave. Perfect parry the sweep to prevent the wave; if you miss, roll perpendicular to the wave path.
Triple Wave Gold charge into three forward-traveling waves. Parrying is disabled here; weave through the gaps or dodge diagonally through the nearest projectile.
Double Shadow Strike She vanishes, reappears at your flank for a wide slash, then repeats from another blind spot. Stand mostly still, watch the camera shift, and parry each reappearance or dodge as the scythe appears on-screen.
Illusion Strike Three illusory copies attack around you while the real Qianye appears behind you for a leaping strike followed by a sweep. Guard or dodge through the illusions, then turn quickly to parry or evade the final hits.
Goddess of Fire She flies upward, throws a flaming double-sided scythe that boomerangs around you, then slams down and follows with a sweep. Roll away from the scythe’s path and the landing impact; the final sweep can be parried for a strong counter.

Whenever Qianye perches above you and prepares a plunging slam (often after throwing her scythe), casting Meridian Touch as she descends will interrupt the attack, knock her to the ground, and remove the follow-up sweep entirely. Use these knockdowns to deliver burst damage or to safely apply Execute once her Qi is broken.

Phase 2 Qianye red-form strategy and moves

After you deplete her first health bar, you are pulled into a mystic arena for Phase 2. Qianye begins in a red, martial-focused form with new strings and more ranged pressure. Here, her combos are longer, but most of the initial hits remain parryable, and disciplined defense drains her Qi quickly.

Move Behavior and response
Horizontal Slash Single 180-degree sweep in front of her. Straightforward to parry or sidestep.
2-hit Combo Brief wind-up, then two back-to-back swings to either side. Parry each hit individually or roll through the second if you miss the first.
Sweep to Leaping Strike Dash-in sweep followed by a leaping slam. Parry the sweep to interrupt; otherwise, roll under the leap or away from the impact point.
3-hit Sweeping Combo Rush into three consecutive sweeps. Focus on parrying the first to break the whole chain, or keep circling to her back while rolling between swings.
Faded Double Sweep She leans back, then suddenly dashes forward mid-motion into two quick sweeps. The delayed timing can bait early reactions; wait for her actual lunge before parrying or dodging.
Sevenfold Combo Red-charged sequence of multiple slashes ending in a leaping strike. This entire string can be guarded, parried hit-by-hit, or rolled through; breaking her Qi during this pattern yields a long punish window.
Quadruple Wave Backstep into four gold-charged waves from long range. These cannot be parried; stay mobile and circle around her rather than retreating straight backward.
Shadow Strike (Phase 2) Vanish, circle, reappear to deliver a sweeping slash. Watch for the moment she materializes and parry as soon as the scythe comes into view, or roll through her.
Shadow Leaping Strike Disappear, then reappear above you with a plunging slam. Either time a parry on the descent or evade just before impact.
Sixfold Shadow Strike Mixture of sweeps and falls: short sweep, two falling attacks, two more sweeps, and a final shadow strike. The rhythm is fixed; guarding through the early hits and parrying the final blow is safer than trying to perfect each segment at first.
Divine Eruption Short dash sweep into a jump with a gold-charged slam that releases six radial waves from the impact point. The first sweep can be parried; the slam itself must be avoided by dodging as she lands, then sprinting or rolling between the outgoing waves.
Cyclone Dive She spins to create a cyclone, rises, then dives toward you. Roll sideways at the last moment to escape the landing zone.
Enter White-form Jump, fiery ground slam, then a swap with her reflection into White-form. Triggers near 75% and 40% of her Phase 2 health.
Exit White-form Protective barrier plus rapid slashes across the arena as she reverts to her original form. Usually appears after she has been weakened in White-form during the second entry.

In Phase 2 red-form, Meridian Touch remains an important safety tool. Use it on her more telegraphed charged moves—especially when she backs away and lines up a big wave or slam—to immediately cut off the sequence and secure a knockdown. When using a DPS-focused weapon such as Infernal Blades, aim to interrupt long strings rather than greedily extending your own combos.

Qianye White-form health drain and survival plan

At set health thresholds in Phase 2, Qianye “trades places” with her reflection and enters White-form. The ground ignites during the transition, and from that point, your health is constantly drained while she maintains this state.

The health drain is countered by staying active:

  • Successful deflects and attacks restore health during this phase.
  • Healing-oriented arts such as Panacea Fan stack additional recovery on top.
  • Weapons with frequent hits, like Infernal Blades, can effectively “outheal” the drain while dealing serious damage.

Her most threatening pattern in White-form is a powerful wave combo. She glows gold with the scythe drawn back before unleashing a large wave that can easily end the run. When you see that glow:

  • Stop attacking and prepare to dodge forward as she swings, aiming to pass through the very start of the wave.
  • A perfect dodge slows time, making it easier to reposition behind her so the follow-up waves miss entirely.

Tip: Meridian Touch can also be used on certain ranged wave setups in White-form to immediately cancel the attack and knock Qianye down, which is often safer than trying to weave through every projectile when your health is already draining.

White-form also adds invisibility and frequent teleports. If you struggle with precise parries, it is safer to keep your distance, conserve stamina, and look for the moment she becomes fully visible before committing to a dodge or deflect. Ranged options—whether from weapon skills or a bow—are especially valuable after her large radial slam, when multiple projectiles fan out around the arena.

Story and Campaign rewards for defeating Qianye

Clearing Qianye for the first time as part of the main quest grants a sizable one-time reward bundle.

Reward Quantity Notes
Echo Jade 20 General progression currency.
Qinghe Exploration 10 Exploration progress for the Qinghe region.
Zhou Coin 15,000 Useful for upgrading weapons and purchasing supplies.
Character XP 22,500 Direct character experience.
Enlightment Point 1,500 Used to improve internal progression systems.
Echoes of Oblivion: Tome 1 Special item tied to your build or lore progression.
Ferrying Mortality 1 Unique reward item from this encounter.
Clip-clop Horse Mount 1 Mount unlocked for traversal after the fight.

Once the Campaign version of Qianye is unlocked, repeat runs consume 20 Energy Points but provide a structured reward ladder. Across Campaign levels 1 through 11, you obtain Tier 16–71 pieces of the Swallowcall Set (rising from Uncommon to Legendary), Blissful Retreat and Crimson Leaves cosmetic chests, Bamboocut: Wind Tips, Internal Art Note: Custom Chest, Oscillating Jade, Zhou Coin, Character XP, and Attunement Stones such as Doom, Rhapsody, Gold Inlay, and Fieryheart. Higher World Levels upgrade the quality and tier of these drops, so it is efficient to factor both your World Level and available Energy into planning repeated Qianye clears.

Qianye demands precise parries, good wave-dodging fundamentals, and a solid sustain plan for White-form. Enter at a comfortable level with upgraded weapons, equip Panacea Fan or another healing-focused setup alongside Meridian Touch, and practice recognizing her charged animations. Once her patterns click, the fight shifts from a wall into a reliable farm for Swallowcall gear, rare materials, and a new mount that carries you on to the next chapter of Jianghu.
