In Where Winds Meet, the objective that reads “hold the stone slab down to open the closed gate” can break in a frustrating way. Instead of keeping you on the correct side of the gate for the rest of the sequence, the mission can leave your character outside the cavern, staring at a closed entrance with no obvious way back in.
The result looks like a standard puzzle fail state, but it behaves more like a misplaced checkpoint. Players also report getting trapped between two gates, which can feel like a full stop for the quest flow until you force a reset.
What the bug looks like in the stone slab gate objective
The key symptom is location, not interaction. You’re still on the mission, but you’re physically on the wrong side of the gate or outside the cavern entirely, so progressing normally isn’t possible.
A related failure mode is being stuck in the space between two gates, where neither direction is available. In both cases, the mission UI can continue to point you toward the objective, but the geometry and gate states don’t line up with where the mission expects you to be.

Fix: Re-enter the cavern by forcing a mission relocation
Step 1: Track the mission so it becomes the active objective. This helps ensure the game treats the quest as the current context when you move between areas.
Step 2: Leave the mission area. The goal is to break out of the bugged space so the mission can re-evaluate where it should place you.
Step 3: Fast travel back to the quest point using “panel actions.” On PS5, this is done with the touchpad, then the left button. When it works, you’ll be relocated inside the cavern, on the correct side of the gate, and can continue the quest.

Fix: If you’re stuck between two gates, restart the mission from the quest menu
Step 1: Teleport out of the area to get clear of the locked corridor. This is simply about escaping the trapped space so you can re-approach the objective cleanly.
Step 2: Return to the location. Once you’re back in the vicinity, open the quest menu and select the option to restart the mission where you left off.
Step 3: Continue from the restarted point and approach the gate sequence again. This method is used specifically to correct the “between two gates” lock-in and place you back on a valid path forward.

Both approaches are doing the same underlying thing: forcing the quest to re-place your character in a valid mission state. If you’re outside the cavern, the fast-travel relocation tends to be the cleanest fix; if you’re wedged between gates, restarting from the quest menu is the more direct escape hatch.
