How to Unlock the Quest
The quest becomes available after completing the prerequisite Exploration quest Correspondent: Eastern Herald. To start that earlier quest, teleport to Fairgrounds via the Caomen Avenue Boundary Stone in Kaifeng. Go left on the map until you see a bridge overhead. Climb the bridge and speak with Qiao Yize at the top.
Once Correspondent: Eastern Herald is finished, Du Gantang will give you the Wind Whispers item, which unlocks the Eastern Herald feature. Wind Whispers: The Informant will then appear as a follow-up quest.
Quest Walkthrough
Step 1: Open your map and locate the Eastern Herald icon in Kaifeng City. Travel there and climb the stairs to the upper floor. Speak with Du Gantang to receive the quest.
Step 2: Du Gantang explains that an informant named Lian Dong has a tip about a strange incident in Fairgrounds. She gives you silver to pay the informant and directs you to the meeting location. Open your map and follow the objective marker to Fairgrounds.
Step 3: At Fairgrounds, find Lian Dong near the arena. Speak with him. He will ask you to walk through the memory of the event with him. Select Enter the memory when prompted.
Step 4: The screen fades and loads into a memory sequence set at night. Walk toward the crowd gathered around a small arena. A cutscene plays showing a man labeled Cockfighter lying on the ground next to a rooster. The scene involves a comical dispute over a chicken.
Step 5: After the cutscene, the objective updates to Record the scene. Activate the in-game camera mode by pressing the designated button. Align the camera frame so the subjects in the ring are centered. The instruction reads "Place the scenery in the center of the picture." When the frame turns green, take the photo. A caption will appear on the photo: "To fight for a bond, he started fighting a rooster!"
Step 6: The memory ends, and you return to the present. The objective changes to Submit the scene to the informant. Interact with Lian Dong again. A Write an article interface opens. The Eastern Herald is a Jianghu newspaper founded by Du Gantang. After unlocking it through the Correspondent: Eastern Herald quest, you can write articles of your own and submit them publicly. Other players can view and like your articles, similar to the signpost system.
To write an article, open the Eastern Herald interface from Wandering Paths. You can choose a title, write the main text, and attach a screenshot from your History. Articles can cover any topic, from quest discoveries to humorous observations. The more likes you receive, the faster you progress through Correspondence Levels.
