The Windward (Part 3) quest in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes DLC closes out the Wind Traders storyline. It picks up directly after Windward (Part 2) and focuses on securing the Wind Traders’ Gondola while fending off a final RDA push.
You can only start this mission after finishing Windward (Part 1) and Windward (Part 2). Once those are done, select Windward (Part 3) from your quest menu to begin.
Windward (Part 3) requirements and setup
Before heading into the Boundless Range again, it helps to understand what this quest expects:
- You must have completed Windward (Part 1) and Windward (Part 2).
- You will travel to the Wind Trader camp in the Boundless Range.
- The main combat encounter happens at Comms Outpost Echo against multiple RDA waves.
- Preparation involves disabling RDA infrastructure and stocking up on ammo from supply rooms.
Once you are ready, track the quest and follow the marker into Boundless Range.
Go to the Wind Trader camp
Step 1: Head to the Wind Trader camp in the Boundless Range using the quest marker. When you arrive, move through the area and inspect the camp to understand what happened to the Wind Traders there. The environment makes it clear the RDA has already struck.
Step 2: Follow the updated quest marker from the camp to the Wind Traders’ Gondola. At the Gondola site, look for Ya'fatar and interact with her. This dialogue sets up the next phase: an imminent RDA attack that will target Comms Outpost Echo.
Prepare for the RDA attack at Comms Outpost Echo
Preparation at Comms Outpost Echo is split into restoring power and then sabotaging RDA resources around the facility.
Step 1: Move to Comms Outpost Echo by following the quest marker from the Gondola. Once inside the facility area, locate the Master Switch highlighted by the marker and pull it to restore power to the outpost.
Step 2: After the power comes back online, look toward the roofs of the nearby supply rooms. Your next task is to destroy the RDA batteries installed on these rooftops. Use your preferred ranged weapons to target and destroy each battery marked by the objective.
Step 3: With the rooftop batteries dealt with, turn to the ground level around the outpost. Search for the armoured fuel trucks parked in the vicinity and destroy them as well. Taking out both the batteries and the trucks weakens the RDA’s ability to sustain their attack.
Step 4: When all marked batteries and trucks are destroyed, enter the supply rooms you just cleared. Explore the interiors and loot any useful items, with a focus on ammo. These rooms contain significant ammunition reserves that you will rely on during the upcoming fight.
Defeat the RDA assault
Once everything is in place, the mission shifts entirely to combat.
Step 1: After you complete your preparations, Ya'fatar alerts So'lek that the RDA forces have arrived at Comms Outpost Echo. At this point, new enemies begin to move into the area. Use the outpost’s layout, verticality, and any remaining cover to position yourself for the battle.
Step 2: Engage the RDA troops as they push into the outpost. The objective is simple: eliminate all incoming enemies. Cycle between long-range and close-quarters options as needed, and make use of the ammo you collected from the supply rooms to avoid running dry mid-fight.
Step 3: Continue fighting until the quest tracker confirms that all RDA troops have been defeated. Once the last wave is cleared, the objective updates and the action quiets down around Comms Outpost Echo.
Speak with Ya'fatar and Kukulope to finish Windward (Part 3)
Step 1: When the area is secure, follow the new quest marker to find Ya'fatar and Kukulope. They are waiting for you once the RDA threat has been neutralized. Interact with them to trigger the final dialogue of the quest.
Step 2: During the conversation, Ya'fatar and Kukulope explain that the Wind Traders are finally ready to leave. After the dialogue, a cutscene plays in which the Wind Traders successfully depart on their Gondola, now free from immediate RDA interference.
Step 3: When the cutscene ends, the quest log confirms completion of Windward (Part 3). This also wraps up the Windward quest chain for the From the Ashes DLC.
Clearing Windward (Part 3) resolves the remaining tension around the Wind Traders and their Gondola and closes one of the key side storylines in the Boundless Range. With the RDA pushed back from Comms Outpost Echo, you are free to move on to other missions in the From the Ashes expansion.
