Wuthering Waves Version 3.2 — Resolution to Illuminate the Shadows Patch Breakdown

Wuthering Waves Version 3.2, titled "Resolution to Illuminate the Shadows," went into maintenance on March 19, 2026, at 04:00 UTC+8 and is expected to be playable by 11:00 UTC+8 the same day. The patch introduces one new 5-star Resonator, a fresh chapter of the main story set during Startorch Academy's New Solar Celebration, a Muse Dash rhythm-game collaboration, sweeping Echo management improvements, and the Endstate Matrix — a brand-new recurring high-difficulty challenge. All players who created a character and unlocked Mail before maintenance begins will receive 600 Astrite (300 for maintenance, 300 for bug fixes) plus two Crystal Solvents.

Quick answer: Version 3.2 adds Sigrika (5-star Aero Gauntlets main DPS), Main Quest Chapter III Act IV, seven limited-time events, the Endstate Matrix endgame mode, and major Echo management quality-of-life changes. Phase 1 banners run March 19 – April 9; Phase 2 runs from April 9 onward.

Sigrika — New 5-Star Aero Resonator

Sigrika is a Startorch Academy student and Resonator of the Royan Runes. She wields Gauntlets and deals Aero damage, filling the role of on-field main damage dealer with a heavy emphasis on Echo Skill DMG. Rather than spamming abilities on cooldown, her kit rewards building resources before unleashing large burst windows through Echo Skills. She also provides a Traction effect and stacks Aero DMG plus Echo Skill DMG bonuses when allies cast their own Echo Skills, making her a natural fit alongside Echo-focused teammates like Qiuyuan.

Sigrika is available through the "When the Runes Glitter" Featured Resonator Convene during Phase 1.

Solsworn Ciphers — Sigrika's Signature Weapon

The only new featured weapon in Version 3.2 is Solsworn Ciphers, a 5-star Gauntlets weapon with 588 base ATK and 48.6% Crit DMG. At Rank 1, it increases ATK by 12%, grants 32% Echo Skill DMG Amplification for 15 seconds after casting an Intro Skill or Echo Skill, and causes Aero DMG from Echo Skills to ignore 10% of the target's DEF for 6 seconds. Each refinement rank scales those numbers upward. The weapon is tailor-made for Sigrika's burst-oriented playstyle and is obtainable through its own Featured Weapon Convene.

Phase 1 also features Emerald Sentence alongside Qiuyuan's rerun, while Phase 2 brings Blazing Justice (Zani), Luminous Hymn (Phoebe), and Spectrum Blaster (Lynae).

Four limited 5-star characters share the spotlight across the two phases. Qiuyuan's Aero Sword kit pairs naturally with Sigrika for Echo Skill DMG compositions. Phase 2 leans heavily into Spectro, with Zani and Phoebe returning for their second reruns and Lynae making an early comeback.

Main Quest Chapter III Act IV — Gold Suspended in Shadows

The new main story chapter picks up during Startorch Academy's New Solar Celebration. President Lucilla detects an unknown frequency emanating from the Academy's Dark Side, and you investigate alongside Sigrika. The quest is permanently available after the Version 3.2 update and requires completion of the Segue: Afterstory "All That Sunlight Touches" to unlock.

A follow-up Segue: Afterstory called "Rabbit Reflected in Shades" opens on April 9 at 10:00 server time. It continues the Dark Side mystery and teases connections to future story content, including a character named Hiyuki who appears in the showcase event "The Flaming Red in Memory." This Afterstory likely serves as a bridge toward the anniversary patch in Version 3.3.

Endstate Matrix — New Recurring Endgame Challenge

The Endstate Matrix replaces the previous endgame rotation as a high-difficulty recurring challenge set in Solaris's data space. It opens on March 26 at 04:00 server time. The first cycle, called the Doomsday Cycle, spans from Version 3.2 through Version 3.4 and features five bosses per stage. Clearing it earns the Expedition Motorbike Livery: Call from Beyond the Stars, the Title: Matrix Ranger, and the Sigil: Past the Endstate – Doomsday Cycle.

Echo Management Overhaul

The single largest quality-of-life upgrade in Version 3.2 targets Echo management, which has been a persistent pain point. The changes touch filtering, backpack organization, plan sharing, and absorption mechanics.

Echo Filtering and Backpack

  • Filtering logic has been refined across all Echo-related interfaces, including Echo Backpack and Data Bank.
  • Batch Discard and Batch Lock let you act on filtered results in bulk.
  • A quick-access button for Data Merge now sits on the Echo Backpack screen.
  • Smart Discard automatically flags Echoes for removal using Suggested Plans or your Custom Management Plan.

Echo Management Plans

  • Plans can now be edited per Sonata Effect. New Echoes are automatically locked or marked for discard based on the Mainstats of COST4/COST3/COST1 slots under each Sonata Effect.
  • Suggested Plans let you import recommended configurations with one click.
  • A Sharing & Importing system allows you to distribute or receive Echo configurations via Plan Codes.
  • Auto-Discard Non-5-Star Echoes, when enabled, marks all non-5-star Echoes for discard automatically.
  • Plan resets now offer "Disable Only" or "Clear Plans and Disable" options.

Enhanced Absorption Adjustments

After defeating a Tacet Discord, the base Echo drop rate is checked first. If an Echo drops from the base rate, no Enhanced Absorption attempt is consumed. Guaranteed Echo drops during quests also no longer cost an attempt. This effectively stretches your Enhanced Absorption further during routine farming.

Graphics and Performance Improvements

PC Render Distance

A new Render Distance setting is available under Settings > Graphics with three tiers: Default, Far, and Farthest. The higher settings increase visual range at the cost of heavier GPU load.

Mobile High Quality Mode

A "High Quality" graphics tier has been added above the existing Quality option on mobile. It requires a Snapdragon 8 Elite (or newer), Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (or newer), MediaTek Dimensity 9400 (or newer), or XRing O1. Supported devices will also see a default resolution bump after the update.

Graphics Settings Previews

New buttons next to certain graphics settings let you view text descriptions or visual previews of what each option does before enabling it.

⚠️
PC players should expect an approximately 10 GB additional download on first launch after the update. This is a one-time resource restructuring and does not represent permanent storage growth.

Expedition Motorbike Liveries and Cosmetics

Two collaboration livery bundles — QUEEN and VIOLET — go on sale in the in-game store from April 9 at 10:00 through April 29 at 11:59 server time. A third livery, Memories of the Stars, is earned through the Whispers Between Stars permanent event, while Call from Beyond the Stars comes from the Endstate Matrix.

Autopilot Mode for the Expedition Motorbike has also been improved, with better obstacle-avoidance logic and the removal of the Adaptive Hook prompt during autopilot.

Ascendant Aces Reward Fix

A welcome change for the Resonator Trial Event: you can now claim rewards for trials completed in previous versions without replaying them. All trials finished before Version 3.2 are retroactively valid, and you can still re-enter a completed trial to test a Resonator again if you want.

UI and Notification Changes

Red dot notifications now sync across devices for screens like Featured Event, Resonators, Guidebook, and Expedition Motorbike. Motorbike cosmetic red dots clear automatically when you enter the Motorbike Appearance screen. Cutscene UI buttons (Skip, Story Review) auto-hide after three seconds of no input and reappear when you interact. Weekly Challenge screens now display remaining reward attempts instead of the previous counter.

New Area Content — New Solar Celebration

Startorch Academy receives visual updates for the New Solar Celebration festival, which serves as the backdrop for Chapter III, Act IV. New explorable spaces include an Amusement Park, the Mind Dive Arcade (home to the Soar to the Beat event), and a Screening Room. Map layer switching for Roya Frostlands locations like Soliskin spots has also been improved.

Notable Bug Fixes

Version 3.2 addresses a long list of issues. Among the most impactful: a quest-blocking bug in "The Star That Voyages Far" where characters could sink below the surface in the Ginnungamere cabin, DLSS failing to enable on qualifying laptops, 120 FPS not working on eligible PCs and M5-equipped iPads, and multiple Aemeath model and animation glitches. Ray Tracing – Global Illumination is also re-enabled for PCs with RX 9000 series GPUs after a driver-level fix (update to driver version 26.2.2 if affected).

Resource Cleanup (Beta) on PC and Mac

A new beta feature lets you delete watched cutscenes stored on your game account to reclaim disk space. You can check the size of stored cutscenes and remove them via Settings > Other > Resource Cleanup. The feature is still in testing and may change in future updates.

Version 3.2 runs for approximately six weeks, with all temporary events wrapping up by April 29. Based on the historical pattern of new versions launching one day after Phase 2 banners end, Version 3.3 — widely expected to be the anniversary patch — is likely to arrive around April 30, 2026, though no official date has been confirmed yet.
