The PS5 version carries a 12-month console exclusivity clause, which blocks an Xbox release until at least October 2027. PC players are not affected by that restriction and get the full game on day one. You can pre-order or wishlist the PC version on its Steam store page.
Donnie Yen’s role in Phantom Blade Zero
Alongside the pre-order launch, S-GAME confirmed that martial artist and actor Donnie Yen, known for the Ip Man films, has worked as a Creative Consultant on the game since 2023.
Yen also served as a facial and motion capture performer for Mo Yuan, one of the characters in the game. S-GAME credited Yen and his stunt team with bringing authentic Kung Fu to the project. The reveal arrived with a new 11-minute trailer posted to the studio’s social channels.
Release date and the delay from September
The October 29, 2026 date is a move from the original September 9, 2026 window, which S-GAME first announced at The Game Awards in December 2025. That is roughly a 50-day delay, and the game still launches on PS5 and PC together.
S-GAME CEO Soulframe explained the shift as a final polish pass. The team upgraded a number of character models and reworked many environments, and put extra work into preserving the game’s look for players who do not use ray tracing. Ray tracing remains supported but is not required for the intended experience.
Phantom Blade Zero puts you in the role of Soul, an assassin framed for his master’s death and left with sixty-six days to live. Built in Unreal Engine 5, it features more than thirty weapons and over twenty “Phantom Edge” combinations, with a “Kungfupunk” style drawing on Hong Kong martial arts cinema. With pre-orders now open and the launch set for October 29, the remaining question is how the combat depth holds up once the full game is in players’ hands.
