Classes in 100 Days on Chunk decide which tools and perks you carry into a run before the first night even starts. You pick one from the shop in the lobby, and it stays equipped until you swap it out. Six of the seven classes are bought with Gems, the game’s main currency, while one is locked behind Robux.
Quick answer: There are seven classes. Explorer is free, Chef and Medic cost 75 Gems, Lumberjack and Ninja cost 150 Gems, Vampire costs 300 Gems, and Engineer requires 399 Robux.

All classes, costs, and star ratings
| Class | Stars | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Explorer | Single | Free |
| Chef | Double | 75 Gems |
| Medic | Double | 75 Gems |
| Lumberjack | Triple | 150 Gems |
| Ninja | Triple | 150 Gems |
| Vampire | Quad | 300 Gems |
| Engineer | Quad | 399 Robux |
The star rating next to each class reflects its tier. Single-star Explorer is the entry point, while quad-star Vampire and Engineer sit at the top with the strongest starting advantages.

Explorer (free)
Explorer is the default option and costs nothing. You begin every run with a full set of wooden gear, specifically a Wooden Sword, a Wooden Pickaxe, and a Wooden Axe. It is the cheapest class available and a reliable starting point before you save up Gems for anything else.
Chef (75 Gems)
Chef starts you with three extra Cooked Meat and slows your hunger drain by 30 percent. That extra food buffer buys you more time before you need to set up campfires and cook, which matters most during the early days.
Medic (75 Gems)
Medic gives you two extra bandages at the start and heals you 10 percent faster. It suits players who expect to take hits during zombie nights and want quicker recovery between fights.
Lumberjack (150 Gems)
Lumberjack hands you an Iron Axe from the first day and raises your chopping speed by 10 percent. Wood feeds almost every craft in the game, so faster harvesting speeds up your whole base-building loop.
Ninja (150 Gems)
Ninja increases your movement speed by 10 percent and gives you a 20 percent chance to dodge any incoming hit. It is the better pick for players who prefer kiting enemies and staying mobile over trading blows.
Vampire (300 Gems)
Vampire eats only meat and feeds on kills to fill a blood bar. Once that bar is full, you can unleash a sword strike that deals triple damage. It leans heavily toward combat-focused play, trading food flexibility for burst damage.
Engineer (399 Robux)
Engineer is the only class bought with Robux rather than Gems. You start with an extra Crossbow to help defend your base, and your crafting level requirements are cut by 50 percent, letting you reach higher-tier builds sooner.

How to unlock classes and earn Gems
You unlock classes at the shop in the lobby. Open it, pick the class you want, and spend the listed Gems to purchase it. The only exception is Engineer, which charges 399 Robux instead of Gems.
Gems come from two main activities. Completing Badge quests awards them, and opening the different biome crates you earn during runs also drops Gems. A full run itself pays out as well, with the survival summary screen tallied up and granting a Gems reward at the end.
You know a purchase worked when the class appears as unlocked in the shop and can be equipped. Once equipped, its starter tools and buffs apply automatically at the beginning of your next run.
