Anime Squadron drops you into a tower defense loop where you summon auto-battling units, place them on a map, and defend your base against waves of enemies. The early game rewards a tight plan more than raw luck. Lock in your Yen perks, farm the currencies that matter, and run a team that can both deal damage and rush the enemy base.
Quick answer: Redeem all current codes, upgrade Maximum Yen Capacity and Yen Generation to Level 5 each, summon until you own at least one Mythic and one Legendary unit, then grind Story on Normal and Hard with a high-DPS carry plus fast units.

Redeem Anime Squadron codes first
Codes hand you Gold, Gems, Trait Shards, and reroll items without playing a single round, so redeem them before anything else. They are usually enough to fund your first Legendary and Mythic summons and to slap a few Traits on those units.
Note: Some codes require a minimum player level (often Level 5 or Level 10), so come back to redeem those once you have leveled up.

Add to Google Preferences →Increase Yen Capacity and Yen Generation
Yen is the currency you spend during a match to place and upgrade units. A low Yen cap chokes your placements, so fixing this is the single most important early upgrade. The controls live in the Perks menu, opened from the Perks button on the left of the Lobby.
The menu shows three Perks: Maximum Yen Capacity, Yen Generation, and Base Health. Maximum Yen Capacity starts capped at 500, which is too low for clean upgrades. Push it to Level 5 for a 2,500 cap. Bring Yen Generation, your earning rate per second, to Level 5 as well, then hold off on both until late game. Skip Base Health upgrades early since the Gold is better spent elsewhere.

Farm Gold, Gems, and Trait Shards
Gold funds your Perk upgrades, Gems power the summon gacha, and Trait Shards let you roll Traits onto your best units. Each has a handful of reliable sources beyond codes.
| Currency | Best sources |
|---|---|
| Gold | Sell extra and duplicate units in Sell Mode, claim Discovery rewards from the Discovery NPC near the Summon building, clear Daily Challenges within their 24-hour window, grind the short GT City map, buy with Omega Coins in the Raid Shop (Level 15+), or idle in the AFK World. |
| Gems | Clear Story stages for guaranteed Gems, finish Beginner Missions, complete Daily Quests (at least 450 each), Weekly Quests (up to 2,000), and Special Quests (up to 10,000). Claim Daily Login and free Game Pass rewards, and idle in the AFK World. |
| Trait Shards | Clear the Daily Challenge for larger reroll drops, repeat the permanent Katakara Bridge challenge, or buy Trait Rerolls from the Raid Shop once Raids are unlocked. |
Farm Player XP to unlock features
Player level gates content like Raids and extra unit slots, so leveling up opens the rest of the game. Beginner Missions give a strong early burst of Player XP alongside Gems and Trait Shards. After that, the fastest grind is GT City Story Act 1 on Hard, which awards +20 Player XP per clear.
Once your team is strong, Raids give +35 Player XP and Squadron on Hard gives +40 per clear. For passive leveling, build a team of your fastest units, such as Tranks and Ramuru, and set GT City Act 1 to Auto Replay so it farms while you are away.

Best beginner team for Story clears
The early goal is simple. Pair one high-damage carry, a Mythic or Legendary, with fast units that can sprint to the enemy base. If you stall after the first few Story stages, drop into one of these two setups.
| Team | Units | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Team 1 | Karashi, Vegata/Goki, Fastwagon | Karashi’s movement speed reaches the enemy base fast, ideally with the Rebirth Trait. Vegata or Goki is the damage dealer and wants the Superior or Cloner Trait. Fastwagon boosts Yen Generation and gets cheaper with the Entrepreneur Trait. |
| Team 2 | Big Beard, Mamosa, Rudaus, Choi | Big Beard is the main tank and DPS, and becomes very strong with Superior, Rebirth, or Cloner. Mamosa and Rudaus support by restoring Big Beard’s HP and cutting his ability cooldown. Get Yen Cap and Yen Generation to at least Level 4 to run this lineup. |
Early progression order and fast travel
With several game modes available at once, it is easy to scatter your effort. Follow this order to move from a fresh start into mid-game content without wasting resources.

Tip: Do not walk the Lobby on foot. Click the area markers on screen for Play, Summon, Upgrade, and Raids to teleport straight there and save time between activities.
Once you are comfortably into Squadron and Challenges, shift your attention to crafting higher-rarity gear and evolving your Mythic units. That preparation is what carries you into the late game, where Raids and the Katakara Bridge infinite challenge wait.
