Every Devil Fruit, sword and Fighting Style levels up through Mastery. Your first skill (Z, and F for movement) is free at 0 Mastery, and further skills unlock at set thresholds as you keep using that weapon or fruit.
| Skill Key | Mastery Required |
|---|---|
| Z + F | Free (0 Mastery) |
| X | 25 Mastery |
| C | 50 Mastery |
| V | 75 Mastery |
| B | 100 Mastery |
| E | 125 Mastery |
| N | 150 Mastery (Gum/Dragon only) |
| P | 175 Mastery (Gum only) |
You earn Mastery EXP by landing hits: roughly 0.1 per basic M1, 1 per skill, 2 per NPC, 10 per boss and a huge 150 per superboss. Mastery caps at 500, and every 2 Mastery levels adds +1 to that stat category (combat, fruit or sword) up to 250. Note that fighting enemies more than 200 levels below you only grants 0.2x EXP, so always fight up to your level.
Haki in Haze Seas
Haki is essential for endgame combat. There are three types: Busoshoku (Armament) Haki lets you hit Logia Devil Fruit users and adds damage; Kenbunshoku (Observation) Haki lets you dodge incoming attacks; and Conqueror’s Haki is a rare, powerful ability that can stun weaker enemies. Each is trained through dedicated Skill Trainer NPCs around the map.
Reputation & Bounty System
As you defeat players you build either Bounty (as a pirate) or Reputation (as a Marine). Below 5M you gain or lose just 20K per kill or death, but the rate scales up past 5M. Hitting notable thresholds triggers server-wide announcements, and reaching 25M+ Bounty or Reputation at least once permanently unlocks the Demon Spawner tool, which summons a demon to attack other players for you. Note that Conqueror’s Haki doesn’t work on players with 8M+ bounty — you clash with them instead.
Chest System
Chests spawn around every island and are a steady source of income, with cash rewards multiplied 1.5x in Sea 2 and 2x in Sea 3. Each chest rolls a rarity:
| Chest Tier | Chance | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 60% | 100 – 1,000 Beli |
| Uncommon | 25% | 1,000 – 3,000 Beli |
| Rare | 10% | 3,000 – 5,000 Beli |
| Legendary | 4% | 5,000 – 10,000 Beli |
| Mythical | 0.99% | 15,000 Beli + 5 Gems |
| Mimic | 0.01% | 50,000 Beli + exclusive “Little Lamb” boat |
Watch out for Mimic Chests — rare monster chests that look real but attack you when opened. They take 100 hits to defeat and deal 10% of your HP per attack, but reward you with the exclusive Lamb Boat if you win.
Awakenings
Certain fruits can be awakened to unlock their strongest forms. The most famous example is Gum, which awakens through Gear 4th and finally Gear 5 at high Mastery, using rare materials like the Drums of Liberation from the Dragon Boss. Awakenings represent the pinnacle of a fruit’s power and are a major endgame goal.
Key Crafting Materials
Endgame gear is built from boss-drop materials. Some of the most important Mythical materials include the Abyssal Eye (Cthulhu drop, used for the Dual Dark Blade and Abyssal Necklace), Drums of Liberation (Dragon Boss drop, for Gear 5), Raijin’s Core (for awakening Electricity and Electro V2), and the Ancient Blade Relic (for the 3SS V2 and Dual Dark Blade). Farming these is the core loop of the late game.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you level up fast in Haze Seas?
Always fight enemies close to your own level — bosses and superbosses give the most EXP and Mastery. Avoid grinding enemies more than 200 levels below you, since you only earn 0.2x EXP from them.
How do you get Haki?
Each Haki type is trained through a dedicated Skill Trainer NPC. Busoshoku and Kenbunshoku are obtained early, while Conqueror’s Haki is tied to the D.Clan race or specific unlocks.
What should you prioritise as a beginner?
Pick a Fighting Style early, grind Mastery on a fruit or sword you enjoy, and unlock Armament and Observation Haki as soon as possible. From there, farm chests and Sea 1 bosses to build up Beli and gear.
