Anthropic has introduced Google Docs integration for its Claude AI chatbot, allowing users to connect their documents directly to Claude for better context and assistance. The integration is currently available for Claude Pro and Claude for Work (Team and Enterprise) plan subscribers.

Users can add documents by pasting URLs or selecting from their recent Google Docs. This feature allows Claude to access and process the document's content, informing its responses in both chats and projects.

Within the chat interface, users can hover over the paperclip icon and click the Google Drive icon to access the integration. Similarly, in Projects, users can add Google Docs through the "Add Content" and "Google Drive" selections. The documents are synced directly from Google Drive, ensuring Claude is always working with the most up-to-date version.

Currently, the integration supports only Google Docs (text extraction only). Claude cannot interpret images within the documents. Users can only sync documents they have permission to view in Google Drive.

The integration allows for multiple Google Docs to be added to a single chat, as long as they fit within the conversation’s context window. If a user loses access to a document, its preview will be removed from past conversations, although the conversation history itself will be maintained.
