Lasting Antibac and Steam Wash — The Core Defense Mechanic
King Pom-Pom periodically activates High-Temp Sterilization Mode, entering a state called "Steam Wash." While in this state, the boss gains two Lasting Antibac stacks that dramatically reduce all incoming damage and simultaneously boost the boss's own damage output. Attacking during Steam Wash is essentially wasted effort. Using Elation characters
Characters on the Elation Path generate Punchline naturally through their own kits whenever they enter an Elation turn. Running an Elation-focused team lets you accumulate stacks far faster than relying solely on the boss's attacks, which significantly shortens the fight.
Stepwise Strategy to Defeat King Pom-Pom
Step 1: At the start of the fight, King Pom-Pom will activate High-Temp Sterilization Mode and gain two Lasting Antibac stacks. Do not waste Ultimates or high-cost abilities here — your damage will be almost entirely mitigated.
Step 2: Focus on surviving the boss's AoE attacks. Each time, Zero-Blind-Spot Cleanse, Potent Foam Soap, or Saturation Cleaning! hits your party, you earn a Punchline stack that charges your Ally Pommy. If you're running Elation characters, generate additional stacks through their abilities.
Step 3: Once the Ally Pommy reaches full Charge, it will use its Enhanced Basic ATK to remove one Lasting Antibac stack. Repeat this process to remove the second stack.
Step 4: When both Lasting Antibac stacks are gone, King Pom-Pom exits Steam Wash and takes a burst of automatic damage. This is your window. Use every Ultimate, skill point, and follow-up attack you have saved to deal as much damage as possible before the boss re-enters its defensive cycle.
Step 5: While Lasting Antibac is active, prioritize defeating any enemy Alloy Pommy summons rather than hitting the boss. These summons deal damage to your team, and clearing them reduces incoming pressure without wasting resources on the damage-immune boss.
