Windows 10 version 2004, known as the May 2020 Update, brings a host of new features and enhancements to improve user experience. While Microsoft rolls out this update gradually to eligible devices, there's a way to download the ISO file directly from Microsoft's servers. This allows for a clean installation or updating multiple devices without repeated downloads. Here's how you can obtain the Windows 10 2004 ISO file without using the Media Creation Tool.
Step 1: Open Google Chrome or the new Microsoft Edge browser on your Windows 10 computer. Navigate to the official Windows 10 download page at microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10.
Step 2: Right-click anywhere on the webpage and select Inspect from the context menu to open the Developer Tools interface. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+Shift+I
on your keyboard for a shortcut.
Step 3: In the Developer Tools panel that appears, click on the three-dot menu icon. Hover over More tools in the dropdown, then select Network conditions from the expanded menu.
Step 4: In the Network conditions tab that opens, scroll down to the User agent section. Uncheck the box next to Select automatically to enable the dropdown menu for user agents.
Step 5: Click on the custom user agent dropdown menu and select Chrome – iPad from the list. This will make the browser appear as if it's running on an iPad to the website.
Note: Do not close the Developer Tools panel after changing the user agent, as closing it might reset the setting.
Step 6: With the user agent set to Chrome – iPad, reload the webpage by pressing Ctrl+R
or clicking the refresh button. The page should automatically redirect to the Windows 10 Disc Image (ISO File) download page at microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO.
Tip: If the page doesn't reload automatically, you can manually navigate to microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO after changing the user agent.
Step 7: On the Windows 10 Disc Image download page, scroll down to the Select edition section. Click on the dropdown menu and choose Windows 10 May 2020 Update from the available options. Then, click the Confirm button.
Step 8: After confirming the edition, you'll be prompted to choose the product language. Click on the Choose one dropdown menu, select your preferred language, and then click Confirm.
Step 9: Once the language is confirmed, Microsoft will provide download links for both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of the Windows 10 2004 ISO file. Click on the version that matches your system requirements to start the download.
Note: The download links are valid for 24 hours from the time of creation. Be sure to start your download within this period to avoid repeating the process.
The above method allows you to download the Windows 10 2004 ISO file directly from Microsoft without any third-party tools. This can be especially useful for performing clean installations or updating multiple devices efficiently.
