Captain Rowan is one of the key NPCs in Roblox’s The Forge, acting as the main quest giver for the Forgotten Kingdom. Finding him once is simple; finding him quickly every time you need a new quest is where most players get stuck.
Captain Rowan location in The Forge
Captain Rowan is located in the Forgotten Kingdom, the second island in The Forge. He stands under a central tent on top of the hill directly in front of the ruined cave entrance. From that tent, the ruined caves stretch out behind him, and the rest of the Forgotten Kingdom town lies below.
To summarize his position:
- Island: Forgotten Kingdom (second island)
- Area: Hill above the town
- Landmark: Under the main tent in front of the ruined caves

How to reach the Forgotten Kingdom
Before you can even look for Captain Rowan, you need access to the Forgotten Kingdom. That requires completing Sensei Moro’s early questline and obtaining the portal tool. Once you have the portal tool, you can teleport to the Forgotten Kingdom and will start appearing at its spawn point near the town.

Route 1: Walking up to Captain Rowan
Step 1: From the Forgotten Kingdom spawn area, face the town and locate the main path that leads uphill toward a large gate and the ruined cave entrance area.

Step 2: Follow this path up the hill and go through the gate into the ruined caves area. Keep moving upward; you are aiming for the hill that overlooks the cave entrance.
Step 3: Once inside the cave-front area, look slightly to the left side of the main entrance. You will see a central tent set up on the hilltop. Captain Rowan stands under this tent in full knight-style armor with an eyepatch.

Interacting with him (default key E) opens his dialogue and lets you take or turn in quests.
Route 2: Using the cannon shortcut
Climbing the hill every time becomes tedious, especially when you are cycling through his six quests. The Forgotten Kingdom provides a built-in shortcut.
Step 1: From the Forgotten Kingdom spawn, turn toward the nearby cannon placed close to the starting area.
Step 2: Walk up to the cannon and press E to use it. Your character will be launched directly up toward the ruined cave entrance.

Step 3: After landing near the cave, turn slightly to the right or left, depending on where you land, then walk to the central tent on the hill. Captain Rowan is waiting there, next to the ruined cave entrance.
Using the cannon trims the trip down to a few seconds, which matters once you are deep into his questline and need to turn in and grab new tasks repeatedly.
What Captain Rowan does in the Forgotten Kingdom
Captain Rowan is the primary quest giver for the Forgotten Kingdom. His job is to coordinate the defense of the town against enemies emerging from the ruined caves, and your role is to carry out his combat assignments.
He offers a chain of six quests. Each one is focused on combat and gradually ramps up in both enemy type and quantity. By the end of the chain, almost everything he asks you to kill is a high-tier skeleton or elite enemy inside the deeper sections of the caves and volcanic depths.

Captain Rowan quest list and requirements
Captain Rowan’s quests follow a clear escalation pattern from basic skeletons near the entrance to elites and Reapers in the deepest areas. You must return to him after each quest to receive the next one.

The first quests focus on Skeleton Rogues and Axe Skeletons near the entrance of the ruined caves. Later quests push you further inside, toward Deathaxe Skeletons and elite variants, then into the volcanic depths where Blazing Slimes and Reapers appear.

Where to find enemies for Rowan’s quests
Skeleton Rogues: These spawn close to the ruined cave entrance. They are low-tier skeletons and are usually the first enemies you see when stepping inside.
Axe Skeletons: Found deeper inside the ruined caves than the basic rogues. Walk further into the tunnels from the entrance to reach their spawn zones.
Deathaxe Skeletons: Deeper again than Axe Skeletons. Follow the main paths through the cave network; you will encounter them in darker, more dangerous sections.

Elite Rogue Skeletons and Elite Deathaxe Skeletons: These spawn in the deepest parts of the ruined caves and in the volcanic depths area. Expect long runs and higher damage from these enemies.

Blazing Slimes: Found in the volcanic depths area along with elite skeleton variants. This area is where you will usually finish off remaining elite counts late in the questline.
Reapers: Dangerous enemies that appear in the same deep volcanic zones. They hit hard and often share space with the elites and Blazing Slimes you need.
Because these enemy types overlap in the deeper zones, late quests naturally encourage long farming sessions in the volcanic depths, where you can work on multiple kill counts at the same time.

Gear recommendations for Captain Rowan’s quests
Rowan’s early quests can be cleared with mid-game gear, but the later ones demand a stronger setup.
- Damage: Weapons that deal more than 30 damage are comfortable for early tasks against Skeleton Rogues and Axe Skeletons. For deeper caves and elite enemies, aim for significantly higher damage per hit.
- Attack speed: Faster weapons help you react to crowds of skeletons and avoid getting locked into slow swing animations.
- Armor: A solid armor build is essential once you are farming Deathaxe Skeletons, elites, Blazing Slimes, and Reapers. Their damage can quickly overwhelm low-tier sets.
- Runes and traits: Ability-boosting runes and good armor or weapon traits make the grind much smoother, especially when you are killing dozens of elite enemies and collecting 30 Epic Essence for the final quest.
Crafting stronger late-game weapons, such as a Tachi built with Mythical ores, is one of the most effective ways to push through the later stages of Rowan’s questline.

Once you know where the Forgotten Kingdom cannon is and that Captain Rowan waits under the tent above the ruined caves, turning in and picking up his quests becomes simple. The real challenge is inside the caves and volcanic depths, where the skeleton counts climb into the dozens, and the final push demands elites, Reapers, and Epic Essence all at once.
