With every new OS, Apple includes new wallpapers that feel like an integral part of its personality. iOS 18 was no exception and the OS included its own set. With iOS 18 (currently in developer beta), Apple introduced the characteristic wallpaper in 4 colors initially (along with their dark modes counterparts).

But with the latest developer beta, the company has introduced a new dynamic version of the wallpaper which changes colors throughout the day, apparently with the time of the day.

  1. To use the dynamic version of the wallpaper, you need to update to the developer beta 3; go to Settings > General > Software Update to update your OS.
  2. Then, go to Settings > Wallpaper or open the Wallpaper customization screen from the Lock Screen.
  3. Go to the current iOS 18 wallpaper to customize it or tap on '+' to add a new wallpaper.
  4. Select 'iOS 18' wallpaper from the featured wallpapers if you're adding a new wallpaper.
  1. Then, swipe to the first option that says 'Dynamic' to use the dynamic wallpaper. You can swipe left to choose the still versions. Finally, tap on 'Add'/ 'Done'.

New iOS 18 dynamic wallpaper.

If you love dynamic wallpapers and have always wanted them on your phone, iOS 18 seems to be taking your iPhone in that direction, even if the entire roster includes a single wallpaper at the moment.

As the development of the beta progresses, we'll see new changes all the time like the enlarged size of the emojis in the keyboard (which I'm not a fan of), new UI for the flashlight (yes, it's changed again) and dark mode icons for some third-party apps (which were limited to system apps before) with the latest developer beta 3. The public beta for iOS 18 is also expected to arrive later this month.
