Palworld 1.0 Flying Mounts: Every Rideable Pal and Where to Catch Them

Speed stats, saddle levels, and exact spawn spots for every flying Pal you can ride in Version 1.0.

Speed stats, saddle levels, and exact spawn spots for every flying Pal you can ride in Version 1.0.

Taking to the skies is the fastest way to cross Palpagos Island, reach the Wildlife Sanctuaries, and skip the terrain that slows a ground mount to a crawl. Version 1.0 keeps every flying Pal from earlier updates and folds in the newer additions, so you have a rideable option for almost every level range. Here is exactly which Pals fly, how fast they go, and where to catch them.

Quick answer: Jetragon is the fastest flying mount at 3,300 sprint speed and needs a Level 50 saddle, found north of the Beach of Everlasting Summer. Nitewing is the earliest, ridable at Tech Level 15. To ride any of them, build a Pal Gear Workbench, craft that Pal’s saddle, then summon the Pal and press the ride button.

How to unlock and ride a flying Pal

Catching a flying Pal is only half the job. You cannot ride one until you craft its unique saddle, and every saddle is made at a Pal Gear Workbench. Unlock the workbench in the Technology Tab, then build it with 30 Wood, 10 Paldium Fragment, and 2 Cloth.

Unlock the flying Pal’s saddle in the Technology Tab. Each saddle has its own required Technology level, so check that number before you gather materials.
Craft the saddle at the Pal Gear Workbench using its specific recipe. Recipes differ per Pal and often call for element organs like Flame Organ or Ice Organ.
Summon the Pal from your party with its Pal Ball, then press the ride button once it is out. You are now airborne.

Flying drains the Pal’s own stamina, not yours. When the bar empties you slowly descend, but neither you nor the Pal takes fall damage because you hover above the ground rather than crashing. Stamina regenerates when you cruise instead of sprinting, so alternating between the two lets you travel much farther before landing.

Every flying mount ranked by sprint speed

Sprint speed is the number that matters most for travel. The table below lists every rideable flying Pal in Version 1.0, its element, top sprint speed, and the Technology level its saddle needs.

Early-game flyers (Tech 15 to 30)

Nitewing is the first flyer nearly every player gets. It is a Neutral Pal that spawns across the Windswept Hills, Marsh Island, and several other early regions during both day and night. Its Partner Skill, Travel Companion, unlocks mounting and gives a small speed boost that grows as you level it. The saddle unlocks at Tech Level 15 and needs 20 Leather, 20 Fiber, 15 Ingot, 20 Paldium Fragment, and 10 Cloth.

Elphidran is a Dragon Pal and a clear step up, sprinting at 1,000. It appears in the wild and its Partner Skill, Amicable Holy Dragon, increases the items Dark Pals drop while it is your active Pal, which makes it useful for farming as well as travel. The Tech 20 saddle keeps the recipe light with 20 Leather, 20 Fiber, 15 Ingot, and 20 Paldium Fragment.

Illustration

Vanwyrm is a Fire and Dark Pal found around the Bamboo Groves and Mount Obsidian, day or night. Its Aerial Marauder skill increases the damage you deal to enemy weak points while mounted, so it doubles as a combat mount. The Tech 21 saddle needs 20 Leather, 30 Fiber, 10 Flame Organ, 15 Ingot, and 20 Paldium Fragment.

Illustration

Elphidran Aqua shares Elphidran’s flight numbers but swaps in a Water and Dragon typing. It does not spawn in the wild, so you obtain it by breeding or by hatching a Huge Dragon Egg. Its saddle unlocks at Tech 28.

Vanwyrm Cryst is the Ice and Dark variant with the same 850 sprint speed. It only appears at night and can be caught inside the Sacred Mountain Cavern dungeon at Level 45. Its Tech 30 saddle adds 12 Ice Organ to the standard Vanwyrm materials.

Mid-game flyers (Tech 33 to 43)

Helzephyr is a Dark Pal that jumps to 1,100 sprint speed with a healthy 170 stamina, so you stay airborne longer. It is night-exclusive and can also hatch from a Large Dark Egg. Its Wings of Death skill boosts your attack and turns your damage Dark while mounted. The Tech 33 saddle uses 20 Electric Organ, 30 Leather, 30 Paldium Fragment, 10 Cloth, and 30 Refined Ingot.

Illustration

Beakon is the game’s Electric flyer and a strong all-rounder at 1,200 sprint speed. It roams the Desiccated Desert and shows up as an Alpha Boss in the Bamboo Groves. Its Thunderous skill converts your attacks to Electric and adds a big attack boost. The Tech 34 saddle needs 20 Electric Organ, 20 Leather, 20 Ingot, 25 Paldium Fragment, and 10 Cloth.

Illustration

Quivern is a Dragon Pal that pushes the pace to 1,400 sprint speed. You can catch it at the No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary in the northwest, and it also appears as a Level 23 Field Alpha Boss at the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant. Its Sky Dragon’s Affection skill boosts Dragon damage for you and Quivern while mounted. The Tech 36 saddle needs 30 Leather, 30 Ingot, 10 Cloth, and 30 Paldium Fragment.

Illustration

Ragnahawk is a Fire Pal built for mounted combat at 1,300 sprint speed. Find it as a Level 38 Alpha inside the Cavern of the Dunes dungeon. Its Flame Wing skill turns your attacks Fire and adds a large attack boost. The Tech 37 saddle uses 25 Leather, 20 Flame Organ, 20 Ingot, 25 Paldium Fragment, and 15 Cloth.

Illustration

Faleris is one of the best mid-game flyers, pairing 1,400 sprint speed with 230 stamina. Catch it on the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary on the map’s eastern edge, which you reach by flying or swimming mount. Its Scorching Predator skill increases item drops from Ice Pals. The Tech 38 saddle needs 30 Leather, 25 Flame Organ, 30 Paldium Fragment, 10 Cloth, and 30 Refined Ingot.

Illustration

Suzaku trades top speed for endurance. Its sprint tops out at 1,100, but a 350 stamina pool is far above anything near its level, so you can cover huge distances between rests. It spawns as a Level 45 Field Alpha Boss in the desert in the northeast. Wings of Fire boosts Fire damage for both of you while mounted. The Tech 40 saddle uses 20 Electric Organ, 20 Leather, 20 Ingot, 25 Paldium Fragment, and 10 Cloth.

Illustration

Suzaku Aqua is the Water version with the same flight stats and the same standout 350 stamina. It does not spawn in the wild, so obtain it through breeding or inside the Sacred Mountain Cavern dungeon. Its Wings of Water skill boosts Water damage while mounted, and its Tech 43 saddle needs 24 Leather, 24 Pal Fluids, 48 Paldium Fragment, and 30 Refined Ingot.

Late-game and endgame flyers (Tech 47 and up)

Astegon is a Dark and Dragon Pal that flies at 1,100 but earns its place as a farming tool. Its Black Ankylosaur skill raises mining efficiency and doubles the ore drop rate from nodes. Find it as a Level 38 Field Alpha Boss inside the Destroyed Mineshaft in the volcanic region, and again on the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary. The Tech 47 saddle needs 30 Leather, 50 Refined Ingot, 50 Ingot, and 55 Paldium Fragment.

Illustration

Shadowbeak is the fastest non-legendary flyer at 1,600 sprint speed, which makes it the pick if you want serious travel speed without hunting a Legendary. It is a Dark Pal found on the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary. Its Modified DNA skill boosts Dark damage and converts your attacks to Dark type. The Tech 47 saddle uses 50 Leather, 25 Venom Gland, 45 Paldium Fragment, and 40 Refined Ingot.

Illustration

Frostallion is a Legendary Ice Pal and one of the two fastest flyers at 1,800 sprint speed. It appears as a Level 60 Field Alpha Boss east of the Land of Absolute Zero teleport point, around coordinates -357, 508. Its Ice Steed skill converts all your attacks to Ice and boosts Ice damage while mounted. The Tech 48 saddle is expensive at 100 Leather, 200 Refined Ingot, 50 Ice Organ, and 75 Paldium Fragment.

Frostallion Noct matches that flight performance exactly but swaps Ice for Dark. Its Black Steed skill works like Ice Steed while converting your damage to Dark, making it the better fit for a Dark-focused team. It shows up as a Level 60 Field Alpha, and its saddle needs 120 Leather, 60 Venom Gland, 90 Paldium Fragment, and 240 Refined Ingot.

Quivern Botan is the Grass and Dragon variant of Quivern with identical 1,400 flight stats. Its Grass Dragon Affection skill enhances Grass attacks while riding, and it is one of the broadest base workers in the game. The Tech 49 saddle uses 30 Leather, 30 Ingot, 40 Paldium Fragment, and 20 Cloth.

Jetragon is the ceiling. This Legendary Dragon Pal sprints at 3,300, roughly twice as fast as anything else, so crossing the whole map takes a fraction of the usual time. Its Aerial Missile skill lets you fire homing missiles mid-flight. Stamina sits at just 100, but at that speed you rarely notice. Find it as a Level 60 Field Alpha Boss north of the Beach of Everlasting Summer. The Tech 50 saddle needs 100 Leather, 200 Refined Ingot, 50 Circuit Board, and 140 Paldium Fragment.

Helzephyr Lux is the Electric and Dark version of Helzephyr with the same 1,100 flight numbers. Its Wings of Thunder skill applies Electric damage to your attacks while riding, and it can be found in its habitat during both day and night. The Tech 52 saddle uses 30 Electric Organ, 30 Leather, 60 Paldium Fragment, and 10 Plasteel.

Selyne is a Dark and Neutral Pal at 1,600 sprint speed with a dual-element combat buff. Its Celestial Darkness skill boosts both Fire and Dark attacks while mounted. It only spawns during a Meteorite Event in Sakurajima, and no other meteorite event will produce it. The Tech 53 saddle needs 20 Leather, 60 Paldium Fragment, 30 Plasteel, and 10 Meteorite Fragment.

Faleris Aqua is the Water variant of Faleris, sharing the 1,400 sprint speed and 230 stamina. Its Tidal Predator skill makes Fire Pals drop more items when defeated alongside it. It appears as a Level 56 Field Alpha Boss, and the Tech 55 saddle uses 30 Leather, 30 Pal Fluids, 75 Paldium Fragment, 20 High Quality Cloth, and 5 Plasteel.

Xenolord is the second-fastest flyer behind Jetragon at 2,700 sprint speed, with a strong 300 stamina. This Dark and Dragon Pal cannot be caught in the wild. You obtain it by defeating the Xenolord Raid Boss, which is summoned using Xenolord’s Slab at a Summoning Altar. Its Meteor Wings skill boosts airborne movement speed, and its Tech 60 saddle needs 30 Leather, 200 Paldium Fragment, 30 Meteorite Fragment, and 50 Dark Fragment.
