Pokémon Legends: Z‑A trade codes for every trade evolution
Pokémon Legends: Z‑AHow to use Link Trades, with the exact codes and items each evolution needs.

Trade Codes in Pokémon Legends: Z‑A match you with another player who wants the same trade‑based evolution. You both offer the required pre‑evolution (and item, if needed), complete a Link Trade, and the Pokémon evolves immediately. In open matchmaking, expect to keep whatever you receive—do not assume you’ll get your original Pokémon back.
Requirements to use trade codes
- An active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- Internet access in game (Link Play menu).
Trade Codes work online via the “Faraway Players” option inside Link Trades.

How to use Link Trades (step by step)
- Press X to open the menu, then go to Link Play > Link Trade.
- Select Faraway Players to connect online.
- Enter the Trade Code for the evolution you want and start searching.
- When matched, select the exact Pokémon that matches the code (for Alakazam, trade a Kadabra; for Gengar, trade a Haunter, etc.).
- Before confirming, check what your partner is offering and verify any required held item is attached.
- Confirm the trade. The Pokémon you receive will evolve on arrival.

Item‑gated trade evolutions: what to double‑check
- Onix → Steelix requires Metal Coat on the traded Onix.
- Scyther → Scizor requires Metal Coat on the traded Scyther.
- Slowpoke → Slowking requires King’s Rock on the traded Slowpoke.
- Spritzee → Aromatisse requires Sachet on the traded Spritzee.
- Swirlix → Slurpuff requires Whipped Dream on the traded Swirlix.
If the held item isn’t attached, the evolution will not trigger. Always inspect the partner’s selection before you confirm.
Safety checks before you confirm a trade
- Match the species to the code. If you’re on the Alakazam code, trade Kadabra, not Abra or Alakazam.
- Verify any required held item is attached to the Pokémon you’ll receive.
- Don’t assume partners will trade back; only proceed if you’re comfortable keeping the result as‑is.
Once the trade completes, the evolution happens right away. If you need another evolution, return to Link Trade and enter the next code.
