SAND: Raiders of Sophie – Thread and Fabric Scraps Farming Locations

The exact crate types and locations that hold Thread and Fabric Scraps for your Trampler upgrades.

The exact crate types and locations that hold Thread and Fabric Scraps for your Trampler upgrades.

Thread and Fabric Scraps are two crafting materials in SAND: Raiders of Sophie that feed directly into the Dmytro Melnyk skill tree, where you unlock new Trampler pieces. Both only drop from specific lootable containers, so knowing which crates to open saves a lot of wasted searching across the desert.

Quick answer: Open Food Crates (including Rare and Very Rare versions) for Thread, and open Crates of Shells (including Rare and Very Rare versions) for Fabric Scraps. The fastest steady supply comes from raiding forts and stopping at ordinary shipwrecks.

Which crates drop Thread and Fabric Scraps

Each material is tied to one crate family. There is currently no vendor option and no other container type that produces either material, so you cannot buy them or pull them from Medical Cabinets or Valuable Safes.

MaterialCrate typeNotes
ThreadFood Crate, Rare Food Crate, Very Rare Food CrateHigh chance of roughly 15–30 Thread per crate. Marked with a white cow icon painted on top.
Fabric ScrapsCrate of Shells, Rare Crate of Shells, Very Rare Crate of ShellsVery Rare Crates of Shells have a higher chance of dropping finished Fabric instead of Fabric Scraps.

The white cow icon on Food Crates is the quickest way to spot Thread while you are clearing a shipwreck or town. Scan crate lids before committing time to a location.

Best places to farm Thread

Food Crates concentrate in forts, named towns, and the cargo holds of ships. Forts are the most reliable, since their courtyards and walls tend to be packed with loot, including Rare and Very Rare Food Crates.

Approach a fort and deal with the large locked red doors. Bring a timed explosive or use your Trampler’s cannon to blow them open.
Search the inner courtyard once you are inside, then climb onto the walls. Both areas hold a lot of containers and frequently include higher-rarity Food Crates.
Check ships with a big red door on the deck. These open the same way as fort doors and usually hide around 5–6 lootable crates inside. Food Crates are not guaranteed here, but the stop is fast enough to be worth a quick check.

Named towns can also produce Food Crates, but they are inconsistent. The containers are scattered widely, and the streets are heavily guarded by Ironclads and zombie-like roaming enemies, so treat towns as a secondary option rather than your main route.

Best places to farm Fabric Scraps

Crates of Shells turn up in the same major locations as Food Crates, so forts and towns will produce them too. The standout source, though, is ordinary shipwrecks scattered across the map.

Normal shipwrecks almost always contain a Crate of Shells, a Weapon Crate, or sometimes both. They are typically guarded by only about two enemies, which makes them quick and low-risk to clear. You can hit several wrecks within a few minutes and fill out a Fabric Scraps stockpile without entering the more dangerous, high-traffic areas like towns.

If you specifically want finished Fabric rather than scraps, prioritize Very Rare Crates of Shells, since those have the better odds of dropping the refined material directly.

Turning Fabric Scraps and Thread into Fabric

If a blueprint calls for Fabric and you only have raw materials, you can craft it at a workbench instead of hunting for more crates.

ResultIngredients
Fabric5 Fabric Scraps + 15 Thread

Because that recipe consumes Thread, keep a buffer of it on hand. Thread also feeds clothing recipes such as the Green Jacket (2 Fabric and 10 Thread) and the Blue Jacket (5 Fabric and 50 Thread), so demand adds up quickly once you start crafting.

The most efficient routine is to clear shipwrecks for a steady flow of Fabric Scraps, then commit to a fort raid when you need a large Thread haul from Food Crates. Watch for the white cow icon, blow the red doors, and you will have enough of both materials to keep moving through the Dmytro Melnyk upgrades.
