Silent Hill f endings — requirements, NG+ rules, and sword guide
Silent Hill fUnlock all five endings with clear conditions, New Game+ gating, and the Sacred Sword purification steps.

Silent Hill f is built for multiple runs. There are five endings in total, and only one can trigger in a first playthrough. Additional outcomes appear exclusively in New Game+, with one final path requiring a second NG+ run on a clear save that already holds two full endings. Difficulty settings don’t change which ending you receive; they only matter for trophies.
When your ending is decided (and how NG+ gating works)
The game locks in your outcome late in the story. Plan ahead: once you commit past the Shimizu Residence segment, your ending is set for that run.
- Ending 1 (Coming Home to Roost) is the only possible result on a first playthrough.

- Endings 2, 3, and 5 require New Game+.
- Ending 4 (Ebisugaoka in Silence) requires New Game+ on a clear save that already has at least two full endings completed (Endings 1, 2, or 3). The UFO ending (Ending 5) does not count toward this requirement.

After finishing the game once, an Endings menu appears on the main menu listing each ending and its unlock criteria.
All Silent Hill f endings and exact unlock conditions
Ending | When it’s available | What you must do |
---|---|---|
Coming Home to Roost | First playthrough (or NG+ if no other criteria are met) | Finish the story. No special conditions. |
Fox’s Wedding | New Game+ |
|
The Fox Wets Its Tail | New Game+ |
|
Ebisugaoka in Silence | New Game+ (clear save with two full endings already completed) |
|
The Great Space Invasion! (UFO) | New Game+ |
|
Notes:
- Ending 5 is a joke ending. It does not count as a “full” ending toward Ending 4’s prerequisite and does not unlock difficulty-related trophies.
- Guides differ on whether there is one UFO broadcast or multiple; interact with all available UFO broadcasts you find to be safe before advancing.
Red Capsules rule and why it matters
A single Red Capsule taken during a run disqualifies you from Endings 2, 3, and 4. If you are aiming for those outcomes, treat “0 Red Capsules” as mandatory from the start of that playthrough.
How the Sacred Sword works (and how to purify it)
The Sacred Sword is a multi-visit puzzle that spans the game’s repeated trips to Ebisugaoka and becomes relevant in New Game+ runs. It’s central to Endings 2, 3, and 4.

- Acquisition: Across the first five visits to Ebisugaoka, place key items at Jizo statues to progress the sword objective.
- Purification setup: In Main Hall, behind an Inari‑sama door, solve the Crimson Water puzzle. The Agura no Hotei‑Sama vial is found in this same area.

- Purification action: After completing the Crimson Water puzzle, cleanse the sword during the Fifth Visit to Ebisugaoka.

- Ancient Jizo Statue and Brooch: For Ending 4, offer the Brooch to the Ancient Jizo Statue (accessible during the Fifth Visit) after purifying the sword.
UFO ending specifics and the hidden reward
The UFO route is a standalone New Game+ path focused on optional interactions rather than combat or key item states. Make sure to:
- Trigger the UFO radio broadcast(s) during the first Ebisugaoka visit.
- On the third visit, read the trio of “The Great Space Invasion” movie posters in the intended sequence.
- Read the associated movie review after those steps.

Completing this ending unlocks a bonus weapon, the PP‑8001, which you can claim by interacting with the first movie poster on a save file that has finished the UFO ending.
Minimize playtime: planning across three runs
To see everything, budget for at least three full playthroughs. Ending 4 requires two full endings already on your clear save, and while the UFO path is quick, it does not count toward that prerequisite. You can reduce repetition by creating manual saves and reloading to pivot between Endings 2 and 3 late in a New Game+ cycle, then carry that clear save forward to unlock Ending 4 on New Game+2.
Remember: the game finalizes your outcome as you enter the Shimizu Residence sequence. If you’re juggling multiple conditions, keep a manual save just before that point.
