The Carbon Meister skin is a secret Fischmas 2025 reward that turns the basic Carbon Rod into a walking Carbon Meister. It is tied to the holiday event, so you only have a limited window while Santa and Northstar Village are available.
Requirements to unlock the Carbon Meister skin
Before the Carbon NPC will hand over his rod skin, a few conditions must be met:
- Fischmas 2025 must be active. The questline is only available while Santa and the Northstar Village hub are present in-game.
- Santa’s Miracle Rod quest must be completed. Carbon’s secret dialogue only appears after you finish Santa’s full Fischmas storyline and obtain Santa’s Miracle Rod.
- You need access to Santa’s Workshop in Northstar Village. The Carbon NPC stands inside, near the Christmas tree.
- You should already own the Carbon Rod. The skin is only usable on this rod. You can buy the Carbon Rod in Moosewood for C$2000.
Once these pieces are in place, you can start feeding Carbon the items he wants.
Items needed for the Carbon Meister skin
Carbon’s “secret” quest is nothing more than him accepting holiday snacks and gifts until he feels generous enough to reward you. You need four different items, in small stacks:

Counts are not fixed. Carbon may accept three of an item from one player and five from another before triggering the reward prompt. Bringing at least five of each item keeps you safe from low rolls without wasting much time.
How to farm each required item
Gingerbread Man
Step 1: From the Merry Merchant in Northstar Village, walk behind the merchant building toward the river. This area contains a Gingerbread Man abundance.
Step 2: Activate your Fish Radar to confirm the Gingerbread Man abundance, then fish until you have at least four to five Gingerbread Man in your inventory.
Glass of Eggnog
Step 1: Follow the river away from the merchant toward the end of the waterway. Look for a Glass of Eggnog abundance marker on your Fish Radar.
Step 2: Fish at that spot until you have four to five Glass of Eggnog. Size and mutations do not matter for the quest.
Hot Cocoa
Hot Cocoa is the least predictable part of the grind because it has no dedicated abundance.
Step 1: Find winter fishing spots around Northstar Village that can spawn Carol Carp. Many players focus on the main river and nearby pools.
Step 2: Fish repeatedly in these areas until you have at least four to five Hot Cocoa in your bag. Any quality, size, or mutation works.
Glitch potions and other catch-rate boosters help here, since you are rolling against random loot instead of a single abundance.
Santa’s Present
Santa’s Present has two efficient acquisition routes: fishing and direct purchase.
Step 1: For fishing, equip a Magnet Rod or any rod with strong magnet synergy and use magnet bait. Head to water around Northstar Village where trash-tier items can be hooked, then fish until you have several Santa’s Presents.
Step 2: For purchasing, go to Santa’s Workshop in Northstar Village and climb to the upper floor. Interact with the present vendor there to buy Santa’s Present for Bells.
Because Carbon may accept different numbers from each player, it is safer to buy or fish three to five presents, hand them in, then buy more one by one only if needed. That way, you are not left with a stack of unused presents at the end of the event.
Where to find the Carbon NPC
The Carbon NPC stands inside Santa’s Workshop in Northstar Village, close to the big Christmas tree and the central activity area. Once Santa’s Miracle Rod quest is complete, speaking to him shows extra dialogue options and unlocks the hidden “season of giving” behavior.
Turn items in to Carbon to earn the skin
With everything gathered, the final step is simply feeding Carbon items until he offers you the Carbon Meister skin.
Step 1: Make sure you are in Santa’s Workshop and standing near the Carbon NPC.
Step 2: Put one of the required items in your hand, such as a Gingerbread Man, Glass of Eggnog, Hot Cocoa, or Santa’s Present.
Step 3: Talk to Carbon while still holding the item. When he asks, “Huh? Are these for me?”, choose “Yes” to give him that item.
Step 4: Swap to another required item in your inventory and repeat the interaction, handing in one item at a time.
Step 5: Continue rotating through Gingerbread Man, Glass of Eggnog, Hot Cocoa, and Santa’s Present until Carbon changes his dialogue and says something along the lines of “Since Fishmiss is the season of giving, how about I give you something in return?”
Step 6: When the reward window appears, press the green Claim button to receive the Carbon Meister skin tied to the Carbon Rod.
The exact number of rounds varies slightly from player to player. Some only need two Santa’s Presents, while others see Carbon accept four or five of each item before the reward prompt appears. As long as you brought enough, the dialogue will eventually trigger.
Equip and use the Carbon Meister skin
Claiming the reward unlocks the Carbon Meister appearance for a specific rod, not a standalone item.
Step 1: Open your equipment bag and locate the Carbon Rod. If you do not own it yet, purchase it in Moosewood for C$2000 and then reopen your equipment menu.
Step 2: Select the Carbon Rod and use the edit or customization button in the top-right of its panel.
Step 3: In the rod skins section, choose the newly unlocked Carbon Meister skin and confirm to equip it.
From that point on, any time you use the Carbon Rod, your character will be holding a miniaturized Carbon Meister model instead of the default blank rod. During Fischmas 2025 there is a known visual issue where the rod model may not display correctly on your character’s back, but it appears as intended when actively fishing.
Time limits and permanence
The Carbon Meister skin is designed as a seasonal secret with two important constraints:
- Unlock window is limited to Fischmas 2025. The interaction with Carbon that grants the skin is only active while Santa’s event and Northstar Village remain live. Once the event ends, new players cannot start or complete this exchange.
- The skin is permanent once unlocked. After you claim it and attach it to your account, the Carbon Meister option stays in your Carbon Rod’s skin list beyond Fischmas, similar to other event-limited cosmetics.
Because the window is short but the reward is permanent, it is worth taking the time now to clear Santa’s Miracle Rod quest and run Carbon’s snack delivery routine. If you already rely on the Carbon Rod, it is an easy way to give your early-game workhorse a unique look that will not be returning every winter.
