Brayden’s Star Projector is the sticking point in the Anomaly Investigation branch of the Telescope task in Fisch. The projector stays broken until you hand over six Broken Star pieces, and the game gives you almost nothing to work with in terms of where they sit. All six are physical pickups on the map, most of them tucked at the highest point of an island or behind a piece of scenery you would normally run straight past.
Quick answer: Collect all six Broken Stars at Terrapin Island (124, 200, 1978), Roslit Bay Volcano (-2001, 190, 389), Mushgrove Swamp (2519, 156, -921), Ancient Isle (6142, 391, 657), the base of the large icicle on Snowcap Island, and the top of the Moosewood lighthouse.

Four of the six pieces sit on high ground, so vertical movement matters more than anything else here. An Advanced Glider handles the long approaches around Roslit Bay’s volcano, while a Gravity Coil is the quickest way up the steep face of Terrapin Island. A boat is only strictly needed for the trip out to Ancient Isle.
Note: none of the six pickups require a fishing rod, bait, or a specific time of day. They are static objects you walk up to and grab.
Broken Star route, starting at Moosewood
Running the pieces in this order keeps travel time down, since it starts at the default spawn and works outward before the long boat rides.
Moosewood lighthouse

The easiest piece of the six is right where you spawn. Head to the back of Moosewood until you reach the lighthouse, then climb it to the top. The Broken Star is sitting beside the wooden railing on the upper platform.
Terrapin Island summit

Make your way to the right side of Terrapin Island and get to the very top. The piece rests at (124, 200, 1978). A Gravity Coil or a glider saves a lot of fumbling on the climb, since the rock face is awkward to scale on foot.
Mushgrove Swamp watchtower

This is the only piece at ground level. Land at Mushgrove Swamp and walk toward the left side of the island until you spot the small watchtower with a Guard asleep in a chair. Step around behind him and the Broken Star is at (2519, 156, -921).
Ancient Isle tent

Take a boat straight to the Ancient Isle marker, then move toward the left side of the island and keep climbing until you reach the tent area at the top. The Broken Star is wedged into a corner behind the tent at (6142, 391, 657), which is why it is so commonly missed.
Snowcap Island icicle

Head into the snowy biome and climb to the top of Snowcap Island. A large icicle marks the center of the plateau, and the Broken Star is at its base, sitting next to a tree. It blends into the snow, so approach from the tree side rather than circling the icicle from above.
Roslit Bay Volcano

The last one is the most annoying climb. Work your way around the outside of the mountain at Roslit Bay with an Advanced Glider rather than trying to go straight up. The piece sits on a cliff just below the volcano’s peak at (-2001, 190, 389).
Confirming you have all six Broken Stars
Each Broken Star is a one-time pickup, so a piece you have already grabbed will not reappear on a server hop. Once the sixth is in your possession, you have everything required to repair Brayden’s Star Projector and push the Anomaly Investigation forward toward the main Telescope objective.
If your count is stuck at five, the two spots worth rechecking are Ancient Isle and Mushgrove Swamp. Both pieces are hidden behind objects rather than placed in the open, and it is easy to run past either without the pickup prompt ever appearing.
Starfall events and pink beams, explained
Some players working the Anomaly Investigation are pointed toward Northern Expedition and Boreal Pines instead, where Broken Stars are described as appearing inside Starfall sites marked by a pink beam of light. Starfall is a localized event that occurs at night on a per-server basis, and it can be forced with a Starfall Totem rather than waited out.
That beam behavior mirrors Fallen Stars, the Starfall pickups that spawn at fixed points around the map. A Fallen Star containing a Cosmic Relic throws out a large column of light that stays up until someone claims it, and each star can only be taken once per server.
If the six landmark pickups have already been cleared on your account and the objective still is not moving, triggering a Starfall with a Totem and sweeping the beams around Boreal Pines is the fallback worth trying.
The whole loop takes roughly one boat trip and a handful of climbs if you have a glider on hand. Grab the Moosewood and Terrapin pieces first to get a feel for what the pickup looks like, then commit to the longer sails out to Ancient Isle and Roslit Bay.
