Magic: The Gathering Arena distributes promotional codes that deliver free booster packs, card styles, cosmetics, and Mastery XP directly to player accounts. New codes appear most often alongside major set releases or as goodwill gestures after platform disruptions, and they tend to have limited lifespans once live.
Tip for new players: Hold off on opening booster packs earned from codes until you’ve collected all ten New Player Experience decks through the tutorial. Cards already present in your collection from those decks don’t get added as extra copies, so opening packs too early reduces what you actually gain.

Working MTG Arena codes
No active promotional codes are available right now. When codes drop — usually timed with a new set launch — they’ll appear in the list below.

Redeem on mobile
The MTG Arena mobile app doesn’t include an in-game code entry field, so redemption has to go through a web browser instead.
Note: Codes are case sensitive and can only be redeemed once per account.
Unique codes from physical MTG products
Certain physical Magic: The Gathering products ship with single-use Arena codes inside the box, unique to that specific copy. Unlike shareable promo codes, these can’t be distributed publicly. Prerelease kits, Starter kits, and the Planeswalker decks listed below have historically included codes to unlock their card contents in MTG Arena:
- Ajani, Inspiring Leader
- Ashiok, Sculptor of Fears
- Basri Ket, Devoted Paladin
- Chandra, Flame’s Catalyst
- Chandra, Flame’s Fury
- Domri, City Smasher
- Dovin, Architect of Law
- Elspeth, Undaunted Hero
- Garruk, Savage Herald
- Gideon, the Oathsworn
- Jace, Arcane Strategist
- Liliana, Death Mage
- Mu Yanling, Celestial Wind
- Oko, the Trickster
- Ral, Caller of Storms
- Rowan, Fearless Sparkmage
- Sorin, Vampire Lord
- Teferi, Timeless Voyager
- Vivien, Nature’s Avenger
- Vraska, Regal Gorgon
Secret Lair superdrop purchases can also include Arena codes bundling cards and cosmetics. The MTG Arena promotions page on the official Wizards of the Coast site lists current offerings.
Free booster packs delivered to your inbox
Beyond promo codes, Wizards now sends free booster packs directly to the in-game Player Inbox around each new set release — no code entry required. All players receive packs covering recent sets automatically, and new accounts that finish the tutorial are greeted with a full stack of packs spanning the last several years of releases, including sets like Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Duskmourn, Bloomburrow, Final Fantasy, and many others.
Where to find new MTG Arena codes
The @MTG_Arena account on X (formerly Twitter) is the fastest way to catch new codes as they’re issued, especially short-lived compensation codes after server problems — these can disappear within hours of posting. Subscribing to the official MTG Arena newsletter is another avenue, since codes occasionally appear there around new set announcements.
Expired MTG Arena codes
These codes are no longer active and cannot be redeemed.

New codes get added as soon as they’re confirmed, so check back when the next Magic: The Gathering set releases — that’s typically when fresh codes are most likely to surface.
