Airwalk is a traversal ability in VV: Ultimatum that lets you glide over most of the map, skip rough terrain, and avoid enemy encounters during long trips. You earn it by finishing a chain of main storyline quests that ends at the top of a frozen tower in the Tundra. Once you have it on a single character, every new character you create later starts with it unlocked.
Quick answer: Reach level 40, finish all earlier story quests, complete John’s quest at the Precipice to open the Tundra, talk to Xuanzang near the frozen village, then climb to the top of the tallest ice fortress and speak to the NPC waiting there to receive Airwalk.
Airwalk requirements in VV: Ultimatum
This is a main storyline quest, so normal progression will eventually put it in front of you. You cannot start it on a fresh character, because the NPCs will not hand over the quest until you meet the prerequisites.

C key anywhere in the Tundra to highlight nearby interactable NPCs. Use this to locate Xuanzang quickly if you lose track of him on the bridge.Route to the highest point in the Tundra
The “highest point” the quest giver mentions is the top of a run-down ice fortress in the Tundra. The path there follows a few clear landmarks.

Dealing with the Quincy Archers on the fortress
The ice fortress is guarded by Quincy Archers, the toughest enemies in the quest. Tanking or blocking their arrows does not work. A hit knocks you back hard enough to send you back to the start of the climb, so you must dodge or parry every shot.

Close the distance fast and take each archer down before it can fire again. Baiting a shot from behind cover, then popping out once the arrow whiffs, is a reliable way to advance without getting knocked off. Equipping strong weapons and clans makes these fights noticeably easier.
Reach the top of the third tower, speak to the NPC waiting there, and the Airwalk ability is yours. The quest completing and the ability being granted is your confirmation that everything worked, and it will be active immediately on every character you make from then on.
With Airwalk unlocked, the rest of the map opens up considerably, since you can cross open terrain and bypass enemy clusters instead of fighting through them on foot. The smartest approach is simply to keep progressing the main story and tackle the Tundra climb once you hit level 40, since you cannot skip ahead to it anyway.
