Every Hollow Trait in VV Ultimatum with exact stat values, slot limits, and the picks worth keeping.

Hollow Traits are permanent, build-defining upgrades for the Arrancar path in VV Ultimatum. Each one changes how your character looks and adds combat or utility bonuses, but they only matter if you collect them at the right stage and lock in the ones that fit your stat focus. Below is every trait, its exact effect, where it lands in the meta, and how the system actually works.

Quick answer: Collect Hollow Traits by eating dead Hollows as a Gillian, Adjuchas, or Vasto Lorde, then equip up to four at Vasto Lorde. The strongest universal picks are Iron Skin, Wings, Deadly Claws, Tailbone, and Innocuous Presence.

Best Hollow Traits and why they rank highly

The top five traits earn their spot because they give strong bonuses with little or no downside. Iron Skin is the closest thing to an auto-pick, since +4% Melee Defense and +35% Posture Regen help every build whether you lean into Hakuda, Strength, Speed, or Kido. It is the trait most players slot first.

Wings is the mobility staple. The combined +3% Movement Speed, +5% Shunpo Stamina, and +3% Shunpo Speed make it essential for Speed builds and a strong extra option on Hakuda and Strength setups. Deadly Claws is the must-have for Hakuda, adding +3% Hakuda Damage and +0.1 Max AP for steady close-range pressure.

Tailbone is the headline Kido trait, pushing Cero damage up by 20% in exchange for a 25% thinner beam. The damage gain outweighs the narrower hitbox for dedicated Cero users. Innocuous Presence rounds out the group with stealth value, hiding your name and Reiatsu signature, extending Resurrection by 20 seconds, and adding +5% Movement Speed, which makes it strong for avoiding PvP ganks.

Note: Skinny offers the largest raw speed boost at +7.5% Movement Speed, but the -1.2% Melee Defense means you take more damage, so it sits behind Wings and Dense Muscles on a Speed build.

Trait value shifts with your main stat. These four-slot loadouts assume you reach Vasto Lorde, which unlocks the maximum number of slots.

BuildRecommended traits
SpeedWings, Iron Skin, Exoskeleton, Dense Muscles (swap Dense Muscles for Deadly Claws or Tailbone if Hakuda or Kido is your secondary)
KidoTailbone, Energized, Iron Skin, plus Wings, Exoskeleton, or Back Scales for the fourth slot
HakudaDeadly Claws, Iron Skin, Exoskeleton or Giant, Dense Muscles (swap for Wings or Tailbone by secondary stat)
StrengthDense Muscles, Iron Skin, Exoskeleton, Giant (swap Giant for Wings or Tailbone by secondary stat)

Tip: Exoskeleton and Giant fill the same role as a second tanking trait after Iron Skin, so do not run all three. Exoskeleton tends to win out thanks to its Resurrection healthpack, extra Posture, and smaller speed penalty.

How to get and change Hollow Traits

Progress the Hollow race and start eating dead Hollows around the map. You can earn traits as a Gillian, Adjuchas, or Vasto Lorde, and any Hollow can drop any trait.
Accept or refuse each trait as it appears. If a roll does not match your build, decline it and keep eating Hollows until you get the ones you want.
Open the Menu and select the 🧬 symbol to change your equipped Hollow Traits. Keep in mind you cannot gain new traits once you evolve into an Arrancar.

The number of traits you can equip depends on your current Hollow stage. Most players wait until Vasto Lorde before evolving so they can lock in the full four-trait setup.

When Hollow Traits actually activate

Traits stay dormant until you finish the Hollow progression and become an Arrancar. After that, they only apply while you are in Resurrection mode. If your bonuses do not seem to be working, the most common reason is that you are not currently in Resurrection, since the stat changes are tied to that state. Choosing the right four traits before evolving is what locks in your damage, mobility, and survivability for both PvE and PvP.
