Lohen is a 5-star Cryo Polearm carry whose damage leans heavily on his on-field rotation inside Stratagem and the Triumph his teammates feed him. If you already have one copy and some spare Primogems, the real decision comes down to two upgrades: his first Constellation (C1) or his signature Polearm, Disaster and Remorse, at Refinement Rank 1 (R1).
Quick answer: Go for R1 Disaster and Remorse if you want the largest jump in Lohen’s personal damage, since the weapon outperforms even his C2. Pick C1 if you would rather raise his Triumph ceiling and make his rotation feel smoother, which adds roughly 8-9% personal damage plus around 5% team-wide.

What Lohen’s C1 does
Lohen’s first Constellation raises his Triumph maximum to 250% of the original value. On top of that, while he is in Stratagem, the Triumph that nearby teammates generate for him through their damage is also increased to 250% of the original.
This matters because Triumph directly scales his special skill, Piercing Frost, and his Burst, Judgement Fulfilled. A higher cap means his big damage windows can hold more stored value, and the boosted teammate generation means your off-field units fill that bar faster. In practice, C1 works out to about an 8-9% increase to Lohen’s own damage and roughly 5% across the whole team.

The catch is that Lohen contributes less than half of his team’s total damage in his strongest comps, where off-field units like Durin carry the bulk of the output. That caps how much his personal Constellations move the needle. C1 still makes his kit feel noticeably more comfortable from the first use, which is why it is the cleanest low-to-mid investment stop if you decide to go past C0.

Disaster and Remorse is a 5-star Polearm built around Lohen’s exact playstyle. It carries a high 674 base ATK and a 22.1% CRIT Rate secondary stat, which already lines up with what he wants for his damage stats.
After the wielder uses an Elemental Skill, the weapon grants Path of Conflict for 17 seconds, along with two short buffs called Unforgivable and Irreparable. Unforgivable raises Normal and Charged Attack damage by 40%, while Irreparable raises Elemental Skill and Burst damage by 40%. While Path of Conflict is active, landing Normal or Charged hits extends Irreparable, and landing Skill or Burst hits extends Unforgivable. The whole effect can trigger once every 18 seconds, and Lohen’s Hexerei state pushes those damage boosts up by another 75%.

The design rewards exactly what Lohen already does: stay planted on the field and keep cycling between attacks and ability casts instead of front-loading one part of the kit. It is his best-in-slot weapon, sitting roughly 10-20% above his next-best options like Primordial Jade Winged-Spear and Staff of Homa. Critically, R1 gives him more personal damage than even his C2 Constellation. The downside is that this passive is built for Lohen and does little on most other characters, so the weapon is hard to justify if you do not intend to keep using him.
C1 vs R1 comparison for Lohen
| Factor | C1 (Constellation) | R1 (Disaster and Remorse) |
|---|---|---|
| Main effect | Triumph cap and teammate Triumph generation raised to 250% | 40% Normal/Charged and Skill/Burst DMG buffs, boosted 75% in Hexerei |
| Personal damage | About 8-9% increase | Higher than even his C2 |
| Team damage | About 5% team-wide | Limited to Lohen himself |
| Stats added | None directly | 674 base ATK, 22.1% CRIT Rate |
| Reusable elsewhere | Not applicable | Weak passive on other characters |
| Best for | Smoother rotation and team value | Maximum personal DPS |

Which one should you pick
If your goal is the biggest single boost to Lohen’s own output, R1 Disaster and Remorse is the stronger pull. It beats his C2 in personal damage and replaces a weaker weapon slot with a perfectly tuned best-in-slot stat line, so the gain is immediate and consistent. The only real caveat is that it is a Lohen-only investment, so it makes the most sense when you plan to run him as a core carry long-term.
C1 is the smarter pick if you want quality of life and a bit of team-wide value rather than peak personal numbers. Its larger Triumph cap and faster teammate generation make his Stratagem windows feel much cleaner from the moment you unlock it. Keep in mind, though, that Lohen contributes less than half of his team’s damage in his best comps, so spreading those same Primogems into off-field contributors like Durin and Nicole often returns more total DPS than either of his early Lohen upgrades.
The short version: chase R1 for raw damage, settle on C1 for comfort and team value, and remember that for many players the highest-value move is to invest in Lohen’s supporting cast first.
