Capuchin Monkeys are a land wildlife species in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and they only appear on two islands in the entire Caribbean. Killing and skinning one gives you a Capuchin Monkey Pelt, a crafting material tied to Edward Kenway’s pistol upgrades and a legendary weapon sold by the Treasure Dealer.
Quick answer: Hunt Capuchin Monkeys on Misteriosa and New Bone, both in the Serranilla region. Once you fully upgrade the General Store at Great Inagua, you can also buy each pelt for 4 Bones instead of hunting.
Where Capuchin Monkeys spawn
Only two islands hold Capuchin Monkeys, and both sit in the Serranilla area, which is flagged as a hard region. Synchronize at a Viewpoint on each island first so the monkey icons appear on your map, then head inland to track them.
| Island | Region / map area | Monkeys |
|---|---|---|
| Misteriosa | Serranilla, south-west of the map (around 270, 175) | One, on the southern part of the island |
| New Bone | Serranilla, far east / bottom south of the map (around 405, 89) | Two, in the forested interior |

Tip: Equip the Exotic Sea Shells trinket before you start skinning. It doubles the animal products you receive per kill, so you gather pelts in half the trips.

Add to Google Preferences →Misteriosa hunting spot
Misteriosa is a small island, so the single Capuchin Monkey here is quick to find once you know where to look. The monkey sits high in the trees near the Mayan temple structure on the southern side of the island, close to the Synchronized Viewpoint.
New Bone hunting spot
New Bone sits far to the east, past Serranilla, and holds two Capuchin Monkeys close together in the jungle interior. This makes it the better island if you want more than one pelt per visit. Note that New Bone is a restricted area, so you cannot fast travel out of it once you arrive.
Buy Capuchin Monkey Pelts instead of hunting
If you would rather not travel to Serranilla, you can purchase the pelts. Once you fully upgrade the General Store at Great Inagua, every General Store in the Caribbean starts stocking Capuchin Monkey Pelts. Each one costs 4 Bones, and you earn Bones from any animal you hunt.
If you are short on Bones, the Treasure Dealer sells them for 1,000 Reales each. That makes buying pelts the fastest route when you have spare money but do not want to harpoon or hunt every creature yourself.
| Item detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Wildlife Products (Land) |
| Buy price | 4 Bones |
| Store requirement | Fully upgraded Great Inagua General Store |
| Bone cost at Treasure Dealer | 1,000 Reales each |
What Capuchin Monkey Pelts are used for
Capuchin Monkey Pelts have two main uses, both worth unlocking if you lean on pistols in combat. Any leftover pelts can be sold at a General Store for Reales once you are done crafting.
Level 2 Pistol Ammo Pouch upgrade
The Pistol Ammo Pouch raises Edward’s maximum pistol ammunition by 10 per level, starting from a base of 10. Level 1 needs Wild Pig Hide x2, and Level 2 needs 2 Capuchin Monkey Pelts. More ammo capacity means fewer restocks during long boarding fights and tough encounters.
Peaceful Means Pistols
The Treasure Dealer in Great Inagua sells the Peaceful Means Pistols, which fire more quietly and suit stealth play. Buying them requires the materials below, so hold onto enough pelts before you sell any extras.
| Requirement | Amount |
|---|---|
| Capuchin Monkey Pelt | 3 |
| Iguana Leather | 4 |
| Rum Barrel | 20 |
| Reales | 5,000 |
Once both the Level 2 pouch and the Peaceful Means Pistols are covered, treat any remaining Capuchin Monkey Pelts as surplus and sell them for a small Reales boost. Between the two Serranilla islands and the Great Inagua store, you should never run short of pelts for either purchase.
