The Testing Facility Reade sits in the eastern part of Downtown 3 in Control Resonant, tucked underground beneath a restricted building. Reaching it takes advanced traversal, and finishing it means solving an object-transformation puzzle where every marked floor square must hold a “THIRSTY STATION” soda dispenser before the shutdown lever will work.

Quick answer: Enter the restricted building southeast of Lookout Point, drop into the drainage tunnel, then cycle five shifting objects into Soda Dispenser form, place one in each yellow square, and pull the lever.

What you need before you go

The facility is not something you can rush to early. You need high-mobility traversal such as air dashing, swinging, and gliding to cross the rooftops and reach the hidden entrance. That usually puts this well into your playthrough, around the 30-hour mark of progression.

  • Gliding and air-dash abilities unlocked
  • Access to Downtown 3, near Lookout Point
  • Ability to clear any Hiss enemies inside the building

Route to the Testing Facility Reade entrance

Bring up the Downtown 3 map, then check southeast of Lookout Point for the Testing Facility marker. Its tooltip identifies the site as an FBC Research Facility.

At rooftop height, jump between the suspended industrial platforms, then glide across the alley beneath you. Pink residue covers the ground, while levitating bodies drift through the gap you cross.
Drop down to the street and head into the open industrial structure marked by the glowing red “RESTRICTED FACILITY” LED sign. Clear any Hiss enemies inside before moving on.

Inside, drop into the open drainage pit and run forward through the long concrete pipe. The tunnel leads through misty industrial corridors and opens into the main testing chamber.

Solving the Soda Dispenser puzzle

The chamber has five yellow square outlines on the floor and a set of “impermanent” objects that change form each time you pick them up and drop them. These objects morph between sinks, stoves, photocopiers, and soda dispensers. Only one form counts for shutdown.

On the upper platform, go to the control console and inspect the “Shutdown Instructions” note. It says the lever can initiate shutdown only after all impermanence areas have been returned to their default state: Soda Dispenser.
Move any mismatched objects, such as sinks and photocopiers, out of the yellow zones first. Clearing the wrong items makes it easier to see which squares still need a dispenser.
Pick up a shifting object and drop or throw it repeatedly to cycle its form. Passing an item through the yellow lines in the room drives the transformation, and jumping to the side right after speeds up the cycle until it lands on the blue-and-black “THIRSTY STATION” dispenser.
Carry each finished dispenser to a yellow square and set it down so the machine sits fully inside the outline. Place exactly one dispenser per square.

Search the upper walkways, ladders, and pipes for the remaining shifting objects, since not every one starts on the main floor. Bring each converted dispenser back down to fill the last squares.

A whiteboard next to the terminal shows the transformation sequence, so you can check which form comes next while cycling an object.

With all five squares holding a soda dispenser, climb back to the upper control console and pull the lever to start the shutdown.

Rewards and how to confirm the shutdown

Pulling the lever registers a completed shutdown, awarding +120 points and +1 Undefined Reading. The sealed door across the upper catwalk then unlocks, which is your sign the puzzle is solved correctly.

Cross the catwalk into the newly opened research office. Interact with the Altered object on the center table to claim Power Upgrade Point 3/3, and collect three of these to improve your Power.

At the desk on the room’s right, collect the letter “A Note From Dr. Milbeck’s Cardiologist” before departing. Written by cardiologist Irina Hedlund, it finishes the facility’s available items.
