The free-to-play rollout of Fortnite Save the World comes with a short Twitch Drops campaign that delivers three cosmetic rewards tied to watch time on qualifying streams. The window is tight, the requirements are simple, and the Legendary Hero at the top tier is exclusive to Save the World.
Rewards and watch time requirements
Three items are on offer, each gated behind a cumulative watch-time milestone. Progress stacks across sessions, so you don't need to sit through a single four-hour stream.
| Reward | Type | Watch time |
|---|---|---|
| Save the World Mood Emoticon | Emoticon | 30 minutes |
| Storm Chasers Spray | Spray | 1 hour |
| Urban Assault Headhunter (Legendary) | Save the World Hero | 4 hours |
The Urban Assault Headhunter is a Hero character usable only inside Save the World. It does not function as a Battle Royale outfit. The emoticon and spray work across Fortnite modes where those cosmetics apply.
Campaign window
The Drops went live on April 16 at 9:00 AM ET and end on April 20 at 11:59 PM ET. After earning a reward on Twitch, you still need to claim it manually from the Drops Inventory page; earned rewards remain claimable through April 28 even after the watch window closes.
Link your Epic and Twitch accounts
Watch time only counts if your Epic Games account is connected to your Twitch account. If you linked them for a past campaign, a quick disconnect and reconnect can refresh the handshake.
Step 1: Sign in at the Epic Games Linked Accounts page and locate the Twitch tile.
Step 2: Select Connect, sign in to Twitch, and approve the permission prompt to complete the link.
Step 3: Open your Twitch Drops Inventory to confirm the Fortnite Save the World campaign is listed and your account connection shows as active.
How to earn the drops
Only Save the World streams count. Battle Royale, Zero Build, LEGO Fortnite, and other modes in the Fortnite category do not contribute watch time to this campaign, even if the channel has Drops enabled.
Step 1: Open the Fortnite category on Twitch and filter for streams with the "Drops Enabled" tag.
Step 2: Pick a channel that is actively playing Save the World. Any eligible streamer works; there is no requirement to watch a specific creator.
Step 3: Leave the stream running and keep the tab active. Muting is usually fine, but Twitch occasionally stops tracking progress on muted or backgrounded windows, so check the Drops Inventory periodically to confirm minutes are accumulating.
Step 4: When a milestone is reached, open the Drops Inventory, press Claim on each reward, then launch Fortnite to see the item appear in your locker or Save the World loadout.
How to know it worked
Twitch sends an inbox notification when a milestone unlocks. The Drops Inventory will show a Claim button next to the reward; after clicking it, the item is pushed to your Epic account. The emoticon and spray usually show up in Fortnite immediately, while the Urban Assault Headhunter Hero appears in Save the World's Hero collection. In some cases delivery takes up to 24 hours.
Epic has acknowledged an ongoing issue with some rewards not distributing correctly after milestone completion. If a claimed reward does not arrive in Fortnite within a day, confirm the accounts are still linked and wait for the fix before submitting a support ticket.
Common reasons progress stalls
- The stream is not playing Save the World, or the channel does not have Drops enabled.
- Epic and Twitch accounts are not linked, or the link has gone stale after a previous campaign.
- Multiple Fortnite streams are open simultaneously; only one contributes watch time at a time.
- The Twitch tab has been idle long enough to trigger the "Are you still watching?" prompt.
Watch time is cumulative and carries across sessions, so you can break the four hours into chunks. Running Twitch on a second monitor or a phone works; minimising the window entirely can sometimes pause tracking depending on the browser.
Once all three milestones are cleared and claimed, the Urban Assault Headhunter slots into your Save the World Hero roster alongside the free Jess Hero that shipped with the free-to-play launch, giving new players two Legendary starters to build a squad around before touching the regular progression systems.
