Windows 11 is filled up to the brim with features in all aspects, like security, convenience, appearance, and so on. To help users make the best use of these features, Windows sends a ‘Let’s Finish Setting up your device’ message.
It can be really beneficial when you are setting up a new device or setting up a Windows device for the first time. However, the message keeps popping up even after a major update or after a restart, which can be annoying and irksome to some.
To add to that, the message is typically for features that are less commonly used; such as ‘Link phone to your PC’, ‘Synchronize your activity data among Windows PCs’, ‘OneDrive setup’, ‘Office 365’, and so on which most people don’t want to set up by then.
If you also wish to get rid of this constant reminder, keep on reading as there is more than one way to turn it off and we’ll be listing all the methods here.
1. Use the Settings App
The primary and simple way is to switch off the notifications from the Settings app. It hardly takes any time or effort from your side.
First, head to the Start Menu and click on the ‘Settings’ tile icon.
After that, make sure you have selected the ‘System’ tab from the left sidebar.
Then, navigate and click on the ‘Notifications’ tile from the right section of the window to proceed.
Now, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the ‘Additional settings’ tile. Then, uncheck the ‘Suggest ways to get the most out of Windows and finish setting up your device’ option.
In case you also do not wish to have the ‘Welcome experience’ whenever Windows receives an update, uncheck the ‘Show the Windows welcome experience after updates and when signed in to show what’s new and suggested’ option.
And that’s it. You have successfully turned off the notifications. You will not receive the ‘Let’s finish setting up your device’ notifications anymore.
2. Use Registry Editor
If you are unable to turn the notification off from the Settings app, you can also head to the Registry Editor and tweak a registry setting to turn it off. However, we do recommend creating a backup of your registries before commencing. Though the chances of things going wrong are rare, it is better to be safe than sorry.
First, head to the Start Menu and type Registry to perform a search. Then, from the search results, click on the ‘Registry Editor’ tile to continue.
To backup registry files, click on the ‘Files’ option and then click on the ‘Export’ option. This will bring an overlay window to your screen.
After that, click on the ‘All’ option and provide an appropriate name for the file. Then, click on the ‘Save’ button to save the backup.
Now, type or copy+paste the below-mentioned address in the address bar and hit Enter to navigate to the directory.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager
Now, right-click in the right section of the window and hover over the ‘New’ option. Then, click on the ‘DWORD’ option and rename the file to SubscribedContent-310093Enabled
if not already present in the directory.
After that, double-click on the file to modify it.
Next, type 0 in the ‘Value’ field and click on the ‘OK’ button.
Once done, restart your system to let the changes take effect. And that’s it. You have successfully turned off the ‘Let’s finish setting up this device’ notifications on your system
Getting unnecessary notifications does get annoying after some time and the ‘Let’s finish setting up this device’ notification is up there on the list. Fortunately, it is extremely easy to disable them.
