LinkedIn has been collecting user data to train its AI models without their consent, and this data is even available to affiliates. This data is intended to help train AI-powered writing assistants who will be able to generate post suggestions and recommendations. However, if you do not want your data to be used by the platform to train AI models, here is how you can opt-out.
On Web
- Open LinkedIn in a web browser and click on the dropdown menu below your profile picture at the top.
- Click on 'Settings and Privacy' in the dropdown menu.
- On the Settings page, click on 'Data privacy' on the left.
- Click on 'Data for Generative AI Improvement' under the 'How LinkedIn uses your data' section.
- Next, click on the 'Use my data for training content creation AI models' toggle to turn it off.
Note: The 'Data for Generative AI Improvement' setting may not appear for you, depending on where you reside as it is not available in some regions. If the setting is not available, it means LinkedIn is not using your data to train AI models.

You can also stop LinkedIn from using your data to train AI models using the LinkedIn mobile app.
- Open the LinkedIn app and tap on your profile picture in the top left.
- Then tap on 'Settings'.
- Next, tap on 'Data privacy' on the Settings page.
- Then tap on 'Data for Generative AI Improvement' on the Data Privacy page.
- Finally, tap on the 'Use my data for training content creation AI models' toggle and turn it off.
Things to know
- You can only choose whether to allow your LinkedIn data to be used for training AI models or not. The platform does not offer any controls over how the data is used.
- Even if you choose not to allow your data to be used for AI training, it will not affect the training that has already occurred.
- LinkedIn will not use user data from users belonging to the 30 members of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.
- Also, if you use an AI-powered feature on LinkedIn, the platform will save that data until you delete it.
