The Forge treats your Race as a core part of your build, changing both your stats and your character’s appearance. You start as Human, but you can roll into everything from Elf and Goblin to Minotaur, Angel, or Demon if you’re lucky. Changing Race is done through a dedicated Race menu and a limited currency: race rerolls.
How to open the Race menu in The Forge
The game never calls it out very loudly, so the first step is simply finding the right menu.
| Step | Action | What you should see |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Open your equipment bag / stash by pressing T or clicking the rucksack icon on your hotbar. |
The Personal Stash window appears on screen. |
| 2 | Select the Shop tab at the bottom of the Personal Stash window. | The in‑game shop interface opens, showing multiple stone “slabs”. |
| 3 | Scroll through the shop slabs with your mouse wheel until you find the one labeled Rerolls. | A slab with reroll-related options, including Race, is highlighted. |
| 4 | On the Rerolls slab, click the button labeled Race menu. | The Race screen opens, showing your avatar, current Race, stats and reroll button. |
Once you have the Race screen open, you can see your current Race, your available rerolls, and all roll chances for every Race in the game.

How to change your Race using rerolls
Race changes are random; you spend a reroll to “spin” for a new lineage. There is no manual selection, even if you have unlocked a Race before.
| Element | Location on screen | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Reroll button | Directly under your character model | Consumes one race reroll to assign you a new random Race based on the listed chances. |
| Race Stats | Panel on the left | Lists passive perks and drawbacks for your currently selected Race. |
| Race Chances | Panel on the right | Shows rarity brackets and the exact percentage chance to roll each Race. |
To actually change your Race:
- Check that you have at least one race reroll available on the Race screen.
- Press the large Reroll button under your avatar.
- Wait for the animation to finish; your character and stats update to the new Race.
- Read the Race Stats panel to see what has changed for your build.
Each reroll completely replaces your current Race. There is no way to “lock in” an older Race if you change your mind later, so every spin is a genuine gamble.

How to get race rerolls in The Forge
Race rerolls are limited, so you need a plan for earning more. There are two main routes, plus at least one free‑to‑play grind option.
| Method | How it works | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Promo codes | Redeem active The Forge codes in‑game to receive free race rerolls. | Codes change over time; check current ones before you spend Robux. |
| Robux purchases | Buy bundles of race rerolls directly from the in‑game shop using Robux. | Fastest but costs real money. |
| Main quest rewards | Progress through main questlines such as the Captain Rowan chain to earn rerolls as higher‑tier rewards. | Free but time‑consuming; later quests become more difficult. |
Promo codes are often the easiest starting point. Typical examples have included codes such as “postreleaseQ&A” and “beta release” that grant several free spins when redeemed. Always enter codes exactly as written, including capitalization, to avoid errors.
For free‑to‑play players, the main story questlines are important. As you push deeper into chains like the Captain Rowan quests, overall rewards improve and can include extra race rerolls. These quests take time and become harder, but they are the only confirmed no‑cash way to keep rolling after you have used up any gift codes.
Robux remains the direct route if you want to speed things up. From the same Shop area you use to access the Race menu, you can purchase additional reroll currency for real money and then spend it immediately on the Race screen.

Alternative way to access Race rerolls via the Wizard
There is also a more “in‑world” route to Race rerolling. Instead of relying only on the Shop UI, you can physically travel to an NPC that handles Race changes.
| Step | Action from spawn island | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | From the main spawn, walk up the grassy path between Marbles’ Weapons Shop and Greedy Ceys’ shack. | You leave the immediate spawn hub and head toward a tower. |
| 2 | Follow the path all the way to the tower at the end and enter the door. | You arrive in the Wizard Tower interior. |
| 3 | Talk to the Wizard NPC inside. | The Race Reroll menu opens, letting you spend your existing rerolls. |
Functionally, this menu does the same job as the Race menu from the Shop: it lets you consume race rerolls and view your chances and perks. The difference is presentation—some players prefer using the Wizard as a role‑play anchor for major build changes.
All Races and roll chances in The Forge
The Race Chances panel on the Race screen lays out every Race, its rarity, and your odds. These percentages explain why high‑tier options are so rarely seen.
| Race | Rarity bracket | Roll chance |
|---|---|---|
| Human | Common | 25% |
| Elf | Uncommon | 15% |
| Zombie | Uncommon | 14% |
| Goblin | Rare | 10.5% |
| Undead | Rare | 9% |
| Orc | Rare | 8% |
| Dwarf | Ultra Rare | 7% |
| Shadow | Ultra Rare | 6% |
| Minotaur | Legendary | 1.75% |
| Dragonborn | Legendary | 1.5% |
| Golem | Legendary | 1.25% |
| Angel | Mythic | 0.5% |
| Demon | Mythic | 0.5% |
Common and Uncommon Races show up often and are relatively easy to roll repeatedly, which makes them flexible options while you are still learning the game. Once you start chasing Ultra Rare, Legendary, and Mythic Races, expect many “misses” before you see anything in gold or red brackets.

Race perks and why roll rarity is not everything
Rarity is only part of the story. Every Race has a set of passives that can radically change how your character behaves. That means a lower‑rarity Race that fits your playstyle can outperform a rare one that pulls in the wrong direction.
| Race example | Notable passive effects | Build impact |
|---|---|---|
| Human (Common) | Blessed: slight increases to EXP gain and Luck. | Solid early‑game choice if you want faster leveling and better drops. |
| Elf (Uncommon) | Glorious and Superior: small Luck boost, increased height, and a sizeable stamina bonus. | Supports stamina‑heavy playstyles and mobility builds. |
| Minotaur (Legendary) | Beast and Bull’s Fury: more HP and size, less stamina and movement speed, plus a strong damage and speed boost when under 50% HP. | Favors aggressive melee players comfortable staying low on health to trigger rage effects. |
| Demon (Mythical) | Devil Finger: dashes become teleports with a chance to spawn a hellfire area of effect. | Rewards precise movement and dash timing, with strong offensive mobility. |
| Angel (Mythical) | Multiple mobility and luck perks, including longer dashes, more movement speed, higher jump, extra stamina, and a chance to Smite enemies for bonus damage. | Suitable for fast, evasive characters that want both mobility and drop‑rate benefits. |
When you land a new Race, always read through its full passive list in the Race Stats panel before deciding to reroll again. Some Races trade raw power for comfort or farming efficiency—for example, the Human Race’s extra EXP and Luck can speed early progression even if it looks “basic” compared to a Legendary option.
Once you understand where the Race menus live and how rerolls are earned, changing your lineage in The Forge becomes less of a mystery and more of a long‑term project. Use your early spins to learn how different Races feel, save rerolls from codes and quests when you can, and focus on passives that support the way you like to mine and fight instead of chasing rarity for its own sake.
