Who Isola is in the story
Isola Vale, voiced and performed by Noémie Nakai, is introduced as a sharp, elegant operator who consistently outpaces MI6's expectations. She is not a state agent. She is a thief with high-end spycraft training, capable of slipping into Webb Industries for months under cover and passing for a foreign intelligence officer well enough to fool a rookie 00 candidate.
Bond first meets her at the Grand Carpathian Hotel in Slovakia, where she introduces herself as Charlotte Roth of the DGSE, France's foreign intelligence service. Moneypenny later confirms the real Roth is decades older and looks nothing like her. At the Webb Industries gala in Kensington, she gives the name Isola, but acknowledges it is not her real one. Her story about Nicolas Webb killing her parents also collapses under scrutiny.
What stays consistent across every encounter is her objective: get close to Webb's quantum computing projects and take a core out of the building.

Who Isola is working for
Her client is never named on screen. The closing scene at John Greenway's grave reframes everything: M tells Bond there is an unseen hand operating in the shadows, a group MI6 knows almost nothing about, and she asks him to start digging. For longtime Bond readers and viewers, the shape of that organization is unmistakable. It lines up with SPECTRE, the wealthy criminal syndicate created by Ian Fleming and led by Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the novels and films. The game stops short of saying the name.
The implication across the final act is that Webb was a useful asset rather than the top of the pyramid. He had the money, the AI, and the political leverage, but his cover-ups, his son Damien, and the prototype HYPERION/THEIA hardware all became targets for someone else once his usefulness ran out. That is the threat M is acknowledging in the closing scene, and the reason Bond's first act as 007 is to commit to tracking Isola down.

The sequel hook, in plain terms
The ending pays off the Bond formula deliberately. Bond chooses the number 7 because he was the seventh recruit into the revived 00 program. M signs off with the "James Bond will return" card the films have used for decades. IO Interactive has openly described First Light as the start of a trilogy, and the unresolved threads are stacked for a follow-up:
- Isola's real name and employer
- The shadow organization M cannot identify
- The whereabouts and use of the THEIA core
- Why she pulled Bond out of the water rather than leaving him to drown
That last point is the only crack in her professional armor. Throughout the game she lies, manipulates, and walks away whenever it suits her, but she breaks character to save Bond at the cost of a clean exit with the core. Whether that is genuine attachment, long-game cultivation of an asset, or orders from above is left open.
