100 Days at Sea: Every Boat, Its Speed, and How to Get It

A complete rundown of every usable boat in 100 Days at Sea, including top speeds, crafting costs, and where each one comes from.

A complete rundown of every usable boat in 100 Days at Sea, including top speeds, crafting costs, and where each one comes from.

Boats carry the whole loop in 100 Days at Sea. They move you between islands, haul loot back to your raft, get you to boss fights, and let you strike enemy bases. Each usable boat starts as an item in your inventory, then drops onto the water when you place it, and the last one you used stays pinned so you can find it again quickly.

Quick answer: The UFO is the fastest boat at a top speed of 100, but it can’t carry items. For everyday travel, craft the Jetski (speed 80). If you’re just starting out, grab the free Dinghy from the Fisherman’s Hut instead of building a Raft.

Every boat compared: speed, carrying, and how to obtain

Here’s the full lineup of boats you can actually pilot, sorted from fastest to slowest. Speed and cargo capacity matter far more than passenger count once you’re past the early game, since every player can own their own boat.

UFO: the fastest boat in the game

The UFO tops the speed chart at 100 and reaches that speed instantly. It’s the only boat that lives in your inventory as an item you can equip on the fly. Hold the UFO item and you drop straight into it, then fly off until you unequip it. That constant availability plus its speed makes it the best pick for hopping between islands. The trade-off is that it holds only one player and can’t move any items.

You get the UFO as the starting vehicle of the Alien Overlord class, or you can find one on the UFO alien island.

Jetski: the fastest boat you can craft

If the UFO isn’t an option, the Jetski is the best all-around choice for most players. It hits a top speed of 80, making it the quickest craftable vehicle in the game and ideal for fast daytime exploration. It only seats a single player and won’t carry items, so treat it as a scouting and travel boat rather than a hauler.

Jetski

You can craft the Jetski for 15 Metal, 15 Wood, and 2 Goop. It’s also available from the MukuMuku merchant if you’d rather buy it.

Yacht: the item-hauler for groups

The Yacht is built for moving people and resources at once. It seats up to five passengers and lets you carry items between islands at a top speed of 60. That makes it a solid pick for teams, but the cargo focus is wasted if you’re playing alone, since a faster solo boat lets you make multiple trips in the same time.

Craft the Yacht with 35 Metal, 60 Wood, and 10 Goop, or purchase it from the MukuMuku merchant.

Galleon: the biggest boat from the Ghost Galleon

The Galleon is one of the largest boats you can own. It seats six passengers and carries items, but its huge size and 45 top speed make it clumsy and slow for solo runs. It looks impressive and works for hauling with a crew, though most players will find quicker options more practical day to day.

You can craft the Galleon, or earn it by clearing every enemy aboard the Ghost Galleon that shows up during Ghost Raids. When you do, it can drop from the green chest on that ship.

Dinghy: the free early-game boat to grab first

The Dinghy is the boat you should chase before almost anything else. It carries three players, moves items, and hits a top speed of 42, which beats the Raft by a wide margin. Best of all, you can get it for free inside the Fisherman’s Hut after you rescue the Fisherman on the Fisherman’s island.

Dinghy

It’s also craftable or available from the MukuMuku merchant, but the free copy makes rescuing the Fisherman one of the first things worth doing. Once you have a Jetski, you’ll likely retire the Dinghy for solo travel.

Raft and Massive Luxury Yacht

The Raft is your basic starter boat with a top speed of 16. It can carry items and seats one, but it’s slow enough that there’s little reason to keep it once the Dinghy is available. Since the Dinghy is free from the Fisherman’s Hut, skip the Raft as soon as you can.

The Massive Luxury Yacht is a class-exclusive boat tied to the Millionaire class. If you already own that class, you can use it early to gather resources and explore nearby islands. Its exact speed and cargo capacity aren’t set in stone.

Which boat to prioritize

Speed and mobility win most decisions here. Rescue the Fisherman for the free Dinghy early, then move up to the Jetski as your main solo boat once you can afford 15 Metal, 15 Wood, and 2 Goop. Save the Yacht and Galleon for when you’re playing with others and genuinely need to move large hauls or a full crew. If you have the Alien Overlord class or reach the UFO alien island, the UFO outclasses everything for pure travel.
