Every catch in Catch Bugs runs through your net, and the gap between an early starter and an endgame net is enormous. Higher luck pulls rarer bugs, higher strength and max weight let you land heavier species, and a few nets carry abilities that only fire at a certain time of day or inside one zone. The ranking below sorts every net by how much it actually moves your farming, weighed against where you buy it during progression.
Quick answer: The Inferno Net (Scorchden, Itzli) is the strongest all-around net with the highest luck and max weight in the game. For situational farming, use the Bamboo Net during the day, the Blossom Net in the morning, the Bone Net at night for mutations, and the Wendigo Net at night for luck.

Catch Bugs nets tier list (S to D)
| Tier | Nets |
|---|---|
| S | Inferno, Ancient Relic, Basaltfang, Wendigo, Dino Jaw, Sentinel’s, Bamboo, Blossom, Fossil |
| A | Scorpion, Bone, Steampunk, Cactus, Glowworm, Spider Silk, Reed, Dreamcatcher, Lunar |
| B | Hellfire, Lightning, Frosty, Stalactite, Demon, Toadstool, Nature |
| C | Royal, Fast, Lucky, Spider, Carbon, Steel |
| D | Basic, Flimsy |
This ranking reflects the Prehistoric update lineup as of August 2026, including the Bonefern and Scorchden nets. Placements weigh luck first (it decides rare and elusive spawns), then strength and max weight (for heavier bugs), then speed and any conditional ability, all measured against the point in progression where you can realistically buy the net.

The Inferno Net sits at the top because it pairs the highest luck stat with a 3,500kg max weight, the largest in the game, so nothing outclasses it for raw catching power. The Ancient Relic Net is the cleanest general pick a step below it, with strong luck, 250% speed, and no zone or time restriction attached. Basaltfang trades a little luck for that same top-end speed.
The rest of S-tier is where situational play matters. Bamboo adds a 30% mutation chance during the day, Blossom adds 50% luck in the morning, and Wendigo adds 40% luck at night, so you swap between them by the in-game clock. Dino Jaw and Sentinel’s bring high strength and 2,800kg and 2,500kg weight caps for heavy catches, and Sentinel’s also carries a 25% night mutation bonus. Fossil is the most affordable entry into this tier and still clears older top nets on luck.

A-tier nets: strong late-game picks
These nets carry your late game and stay useful well past the point you unlock them. The Scorpion Net is the strength-and-weight workhorse of the desert, with a 1,600kg cap that handles heavy Dune Burrow bugs. The Bone Net, sold by Anpu inside the Secret Tomb, is the go-to luck net for night hunting thanks to its 40% mutation bonus after dark.
Steampunk and Cactus are the pre-Secret-Tomb power spikes from Billy, both leaning on high speed. Glowworm and Spider Silk push luck up through the cave grind, Reed and Dreamcatcher fill the Swamp and Jewel Jungle steps, and the Lunar Net is a cheap night-luck option that punches above its price.
| Net | Seller / zone | Cost | Str | Luck | Max weight | Ability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scorpion | Billy, Dune Burrow | $240,000,000 | 41 | +14,801% | 1,600kg | None |
| Bone | Anpu, Secret Tomb | $220,000,000 | 40 | +14,064% | 1,450kg | +40% mutation at night |

| Reed | Campbell, Swamp | $70,000,000 | 34 | +11,815% | 850kg | None |
| Lunar | Luna, Moon Hollow | $5,000,000 | 28 | +8,558% | 450kg | Global luck boost at night |

B-tier nets: mid-game bridges
Mid-game runs to Moon Hollow and Deeproot Caves the fastest through this group. Hellfire and Lightning, both from Axel in Crawlwood, are the best general choices here because they carry no zone or time dependency, so their luck and speed apply everywhere. Frosty is the cheaper step before them, while Demon and Stalactite handle the cave transition.
Two nets in this tier are zone tools rather than upgrades. Toadstool and Nature both look weak on paper, but Toadstool boosts luck and adds 60% strength inside Moon Hollow, and Nature adds 60% strength in the forest. Use them only in their home zones.
| Net | Seller / zone | Cost | Str | Luck | Max weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hellfire | Axel, Crawlwood | $2,400,000 | 27 | +7,548% | 350kg |
| Lightning | Axel, Crawlwood | $1,520,000 | 23 | +6,187% | 280kg |
| Frosty | Axel, Crawlwood | $1,100,000 | 21 | +4,768% | 220kg |
| Stalactite | Zak, Deeproot Caves | $660,000 | 17 | +3,575% | 65kg |
| Demon | Zak, Deeproot Caves | $360,000 | 14 | +2,826% | 70kg |
| Toadstool | Luna, Moon Hollow | $28,000 | 10 | +1,965% | 15kg |
| Nature | Axel, Crawlwood | $16,000 | 9 | +1,399% | 6.5kg |

C and D tiers: early nets to outgrow
The Fast Net is the one early net worth targeting on purpose. Its 148% speed sharply raises your catch rate in the Grasslands and into Crawlwood, which is why it is the standard first real purchase. Lucky offers the best early luck if you would rather chase rare bugs than farm quickly, and the 9-Robux Spider Net from the Starter Package is a reasonable head start. Royal is the last C-tier step that carries you toward the cave zones.
Flimsy and Basic are D-tier by default. They exist only to catch your first common butterflies and beetles, and you should replace them as soon as you can afford anything above them.
| Net | Seller / zone | Cost | Str | Luck | Speed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Royal | Axel, Crawlwood | $76,000 | 12 | +2,097% | +93% |
| Fast | Gary, Grasslands | $8,000 | 7 | +355% | +148% |
| Spider | Starter Package | 9 Robux | 6 | +576% | +83% |
| Lucky | Gary, Grasslands | $5,200 | 4 | +640% | +19% |
| Carbon | Gary, Grasslands | $1,800 | 5 | +576% | +37% |
| Steel | Gary, Grasslands | $600 | 3 | +355% | +19% |
| Basic | Gary, Grasslands | $10 | 1 | +0% | +0% |
| Flimsy | Grasslands | Free | 1 | +0% | +0% |
Upgrade order that follows the ranking

Costs, sellers, and stats shift with each major patch, so treat conditional nets as clock tools rather than permanent upgrades. Match the net to the time of day and the zone you are farming, and the situational abilities will out-earn a higher base luck net you are using at the wrong moment.
