Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls: How to Play Loki (Abilities and Combos)

A control-focused breakdown of Loki's illusions, ice attacks, combos, and the ranged playstyle that makes him tick.

A control-focused breakdown of Loki’s illusions, ice attacks, combos, and the ranged playstyle that makes him tick.

Loki fights the way you would expect the God of Mischief to fight. He keeps distance, throws out ice and magic from range, and leans on afterimages and clones to make opponents guess wrong. He carries strong reach on every move, but he is rated three out of five stars for ease of use, so getting real value out of him takes practice.

Quick answer: Play Loki as a zoner. Poke from a safe distance with Jotun Mist and Serpent Spike, use Illusion and Misdirection to dodge and counter with clones, and drop Norn Stone as a projectile or a floor trap to pin the enemy in the corner.

Best Loki combos and their meter cost

Loki’s normals give him reliable medium-range strings, and his two skill-gauge moves handle the big damage. The table below breaks down what each does and what it costs.

Medium and Heavy comboFive hits with knife and staff, finishing with a sphere of magical energy that pushes the enemy awayNone

Light attack combo

The Light string runs for five hits, weaving in quick knife jabs alongside staff swings. On the last hit, Loki caps the sequence with an icicle for extra damage.

Medium and Heavy attack combo

The Medium and Heavy strings mirror the Light one in structure, landing five hits with the knife and staff. Both finish with a burst of magical energy that shoves the opponent back and resets the spacing in your favor.

Laufey’s Wrath (Super Skill)

Laufey’s Wrath costs 50 Skill Gauge and calls up a field of ice pillars from the floor, catching the opponent in a burst of hits. It is your mid-meter payoff when you want damage without spending everything.

Laevateinn (Ultimate Skill)

Laevateinn is the full-meter Ultimate at 100 Skill Gauge. Loki fires a spread of lasers from his staff, then follows up by transforming the staff into a flaming sword for a second strike. Save it for a confirmed opening or to close out a round.

How to play Loki: A range-first game plan

Loki’s normals deal fine damage at medium range, but they are not meant to be your main offense. His strength is control from afar. Lead with Jotun Mist and Serpent Spike to chip away and keep the opponent honest before they can start their own pressure.

Layer in his defensive tricks. Illusion lets you slip past incoming attacks, while Misdirection turns a dodge into a counter. Both spawn a clone to bait the opponent and teleport Loki out of their range, so a whiffed swing often leaves them open for your punish.

Norn Stone ties the whole plan together. Fire it as a projectile to threaten from across the screen, or plant it on the ground as a trap to steer where the enemy can move. Combine the stone with your clones and you can wall off escape routes and corner almost anyone.

Tip: Because Loki thrives on misdirection, treat every clone as information. When an opponent commits to hitting an afterimage, that is your cue to punish or start your own combo. Manage your Skill Gauge so you always have Laufey’s Wrath ready for a mid-range confirm and hold Laevateinn for the moment it can seal the round.
