Apples are one of the trickier pickups in Unscathed. There is no vendor, no crafting recipe, and no guaranteed drop. You collect them by walking the map and grabbing them off the ground when they appear, which is exactly why the Inkeeper’s request for ten of them can stall out fast.
Quick answer: Find apples lying on the ground around the map and walk over them to pick them up. Collect 10 to hand in the Inkeeper’s quest. They spawn at random spots and random times, with the player spawn area being the most reliable place to check.
How apples spawn and how long they take
Apples appear on the ground and are picked up simply by moving over them. The catch is the spawn rate, which is very low. There is no fixed timer you can rely on, but in practice a batch of apples tends to show up roughly every 50 to 60 minutes on a single server. Because of that, filling the quest is a slow grind rather than a quick errand.
One useful detail is that a spawned apple does not vanish after one player grabs it. Everyone on the server can collect the same apple, and it stays in the world until each player present has picked it up. That means you are never competing with other players for a single fruit.
Where apples show up on the map
There is no set location. Apples can appear anywhere across the map, so no single route guarantees a find. That said, the player spawn area is the most common place to see them, which makes it the smartest spot to keep circling back to.
Two zones near spawn are worth watching in particular. Check the open ground across from the Traveler NPC, and sweep the area near the Blacksmith NPC. Since apples drop straight onto the ground, a quick visual scan of these open spaces is usually enough to catch one when it appears.
Server hopping to collect apples faster
Because the spawn chance is so low, waiting on one server can be painfully slow. Server hopping is the fastest way to speed things up. Jump between servers and prioritize full, older ones, since those have had more time for apples to accumulate on the ground.
When you load into a busy server, head to the spawn area first and scan for any apples that are already sitting out. If nothing is there, hop again rather than idling. Repeating this loop is far more efficient than parking on a single empty server and waiting for the next spawn cycle.
Public vs private servers
Apples spawn on both public and private servers, so you do not need a private server just to farm them. The only difference is ownership. On a public server, a spawned apple is shared and stays in the world until every player there has grabbed one. On a private server, the apples are simply yours to collect.
Given how much full public servers help with spawn frequency, sticking to public servers and hopping between them is generally the better play for clearing the quest.
What apples do beyond the quest
Apples are not only a quest item. They are also a consumable that boosts your Luck. Eating one grants +10% Luck for one minute, and the effect stacks in duration when you eat more than one.

Expect this to take a while. With such a low spawn chance, the most dependable approach is to camp the spawn area, hop between full servers, and pick up every apple you spot until the quest tally reaches ten.
