Reach 500 points with the Harvest Moon Owl to claim the limited-time chest and its six possible seed and pet drops.

Reach 500 points with the Harvest Moon Owl to claim the limited-time chest and its six possible seed and pet drops.

The Moon Chest is a limited-time reward container introduced with the Harvest Moon Part 2 update in Grow a Garden. It holds six possible items, split between seeds and pets, each with its own drop chance. You earn it by feeding the Harvest Moon Owl until it is satisfied.

Quick answer: Feed the Harvest Moon Owl plants that match its currently requested trait until you hit 500 points. The Owl then hands you one Moon Chest and enters a 5-minute cooldown.

What you need to earn a Moon Chest

The Moon Chest comes directly from the Harvest Moon Owl, which is tied to the second part of the Harvest Moon Event. The Owl asks for plants that carry a specific trait, and only plants matching that current trait can be fed to it. Plants that do not match the request cannot be handed over at all.

Each valid plant adds points. Once the total reaches 500, the Owl becomes satisfied and rewards you with a single Moon Chest. The trait the Owl wants rotates, so check its current craving before harvesting.

The Owl can request any of the following traits:

  • Berry
  • Fruit
  • Flower
  • Vegetable
  • Sweet
  • Tropical
  • Prickly
  • Woody
  • Leafy
  • Stalky

Feeding the Harvest Moon Owl

Check which trait the Harvest Moon Owl is asking for. Only plants with that trait count toward your points, so match your harvest to the request.
Feed matching plants to the Owl one at a time. Every valid plant adds to your running total on the way to 500 points.
Keep feeding until you reach 500 points. At that threshold the Owl is satisfied and drops one Moon Chest into your inventory.
After the reward, the Owl goes on a 5-minute cooldown before it will accept plants again. Wait out the timer to start a new round toward the next chest.

Note: Feeding the Owl also carries a 50% chance to apply the Moonbeam mutation to a fruit in your garden, so each round can pay off beyond the chest itself.

Skipping the cooldown

If you would rather not wait between chests, you can spend 49 Robux to clear the Owl’s 5-minute cooldown instantly. This lets you begin feeding for the next Moon Chest right away. Waiting the full timer costs nothing and reaches the same result.

Moon Chest rewards and drop chances

Each Moon Chest rolls one of six possible items. The two most common outcomes are the Crescent Petal Seed and the Moon Snail, while the Luna Bloom Seed and Wise Owl sit at the bottom of the odds. Because two separate items share a 0.5% chance, both are very hard to pull.

Confirming the chest and its reward

You know the process worked when the Owl reaches 500 points, becomes satisfied, and grants a Moon Chest. Opening the chest returns exactly one of the six items above. If the Owl stops accepting plants, it is either on its 5-minute cooldown or you are trying to feed a plant that does not match its current trait.

Since the Moon Chest is limited to the Harvest Moon Part 2 window, the fastest way to chase the rare Luna Bloom Seed or Wise Owl is to keep cycling the Owl, matching each requested trait, and opening as many chests as you can while the event is live.
