Chop Chop Inc: How to Unlock Hamstertech Through the Hamster Questline

The hamster family in Chop Chop Inc ties directly into the game’s automation system, and reaching them takes more than a walk into the mine. You need to repair a broken gear mechanism, find Hamster Home, then finish a short chain of quests for Momma Hamster. Completing that chain unlocks Hamstertech, which lets hamsters run machines for you.

Quick answer: Craft a cogwheel with 4 metal ingots, fix the mine lever, follow the new path to Hamster Home, then finish the four quests (Very Comfortable Pillows, A Little Snack, Fixing the Pipe, Hamster Resort). Building the hamster cage during Hamster Resort triggers the “Hamstertech is unlocked” notification.

Gather these before you start so you are not making repeat trips. Each stage of the chain has its own requirement, and the final cage build is the gate for Hamstertech.

How to reach Hamster Home

Hamster Home sits past a broken bridge mechanism inside the mine, so the door is closed until you repair the lever that controls those bridges.

Head to the furnace next to the Woodman Corp wooden building and craft a cogwheel. One cogwheel costs 4x metal ingots.

Interact with the gear mechanism in the mine and choose Build. This uses the cogwheel to repair the broken lever.

Pull the repaired lever to open the new paths, then follow the route it reveals to reach Hamster Home.

Inside, talk with Daddy Hamster. He explains that Momma Hamster is pregnant and asks you to make things comfortable for her. Speak with Momma Hamster to start the questline.

Very Comfortable Pillows

The first quest asks you to collect 2 worn-out pillows, craft 2 very comfortable pillows, then hand them to Momma Hamster.

Pick up the 2 worn-out pillows sitting in front of Momma Hamster and carry them outside to your Workbench.

Repair the pillows with 8 stonewood total. Momma likes her pillows hard, so put 4 stonewood into each one.

Give both finished pillows to Momma Hamster, then talk to Daddy Hamster again. He asks for Momma’s favorite snack, pickles in chocolate cream.

A Little Snack

The second quest wants one pickles and chocolate mix delivered to Momma Hamster. This mix is craftable, not cookable, so it comes together at the Workbench.

Open Screw It! Supplies, the PC next to the Workbench, and order 1x Chocolate Cream and 1x Pickled Cucumbers. Each costs 10 Gold.

When the order arrives in a large box, grab it and interact with the Workbench. Select the pickles and chocolate mix and place the cucumbers into the mix.

Feed the mix to Momma Hamster to clear the quest.

Tip: Keep at least three hamsters around. You need one for the Mysterious Well’s Flying Hamster ritual (along with a balloon) and two more to build the Electronics Press, which is required to craft Batteries.

Fixing the Pipe

Momma Hamster mentions a small inlet pipe next to the outlet pipe. Slip her a treat through it and she sends the boys up to help. First you have to clear the blockage.

Head outside and locate the clogged pipe that Daddy Hamster described.

Climb onto the pipe and use your axe on the clogged exit to free it.

Hamster Resort and unlocking Hamstertech

The final quest, Hamster Resort, asks you to build a hamster cage. This build is the trigger for Hamstertech, so gather everything before you head back to the pipe.

With all four materials in hand, return to the pipe and build the hamster cage.

Watch for the on-screen notification that reads Hamstertech is unlocked. That message confirms the questline is complete and the automation feature is active.

After that, send Momma her pickles and chocolate mix through the inlet pipe whenever you want her to release hamsters for you. Those hamsters are what you assign to run machines automatically.
