Prodigy is the lone Secret-rarity unit introduced with the Warriors Saga update in Anime Expeditions. Based on Gohan from Dragon Ball, it isn’t pulled from a banner. You earn it by clearing a dedicated questline, then evolve it into Prodigy (Rage) to unlock its full set of passives and a high-damage active ability.
Quick answer: Reach Act 1 of the East Town story, speak to the Prodigy NPC near the basketball court to start The Scholar’s Trial, finish every listed objective, then return to the same NPC to claim the unit.
Start The Scholar’s Trial questline
Prodigy is the reward for completing The Scholar’s Trial. The questline unlocks after you reach Act 1 of the East Town Story map, and it only becomes active once you talk to the right NPC.

You have to clear the full set of objectives below before Prodigy becomes claimable. The smartest approach is to stack progress instead of grinding each task in isolation.
| Objective | How to complete it |
|---|---|
| Participate in 1 Tournament | Enter once. Winning and placement do not matter. |
| Clear a Boss Node on East Town Difficulty 3 | Run East Town Expedition on Difficulty 3 and finish the boss node with a strong team. |
| Collect 350 Mechanical Scrap | Farm East Town Expedition on Difficulty 3, targeting nodes that reward scrap. |
| Clear 150 waves with Carrot (Unleashed) | Evolve Carrot and keep it equipped while you clear stages. |
| Clear 150 waves with Bioinsect (Final Form) | Evolve Bioinsect and keep it equipped in the same team. |
| Complete Prodigy’s Trial | Use the preset trial team the game hands you. |
Both Carrot and Bioinsect come from the Standard Banner and the Mini Banner. Evolve each of them first, then run waves with both slotted into the same team so the two 150-wave counters climb together. If a counter isn’t moving, check the form. Only the evolved versions count.
Tip: For Mechanical Scrap, open the Expedition Map on East Town Difficulty 3 and inspect the first few nodes. If none of them reward scrap, restart the game to reroll the map, then play only the scrap nodes and reset again. Double-check you are on Difficulty 3 before clearing the boss node, since Difficulty 1 and 2 do not count.
How to beat Prodigy’s Trial
Prodigy’s Trial forces a preset team, so your own roster and upgrades don’t apply. It is an economy and shield-control fight, not a damage race. The lineup includes Prodigy (Rage), The Drink, String Demon (Awakened), Salmon Sorcerer (Grade One), The Hero, and Stone Alchemist.
Once every requirement shows as complete, return to the Prodigy NPC and claim the unit. Lock it in the Unit Manager right away so a stray Sell All doesn’t cost you the reward.
Evolve Prodigy into Prodigy (Rage)
Evolving Prodigy into Prodigy (Rage) grants a new attack and its active ability, and it opens up the unit’s full passive kit. You need the following materials to complete the evolution.
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Sprite (Red) | 20 |
| Sprite (Purple) | 20 |
| Sprite (Blue) | 20 |
| Sprite (Rainbow) | 3 |
| Rage Catalyst | 1 |
| Gold | 10,000 |

You craft the colored Sprites from Grey Sprites, which drop from Story stages and Challenge maps. Gold accumulates naturally as you clear levels. The one gated material is the Rage Catalyst, which comes from finishing the Hidden Potential Trial tied to Prodigy’s Unit Quest.

Tip: Roll the Unbound Trait on Prodigy (Rage). It sharply raises the unit’s stats and gets the most out of its damage-focused kit.
Prodigy (Rage) passives and ability
After the evolution, Prodigy (Rage) leans on stacked transformations and area damage, which is what makes it a strong DPS pick. Here is the full kit.
Hidden Potential (passive)
- On Upgrade 3, the unit transforms into Prodigy Transformation.
- Every 3 regular attacks deal 50% of the unit’s damage to all enemies within range.
- On Upgrade 5, it unlocks Rage Unleashed.
Rage Unleashed (passive)
- The unit has a Prodigy Meter starting at 0.
- Each regular attack raises the Prodigy Meter by 5.
- When enemies leave the unit’s range, the Prodigy Meter rises by 1.
- At 100 stacks, the meter resets and the unit transforms into Prodigy Transformation 2.
- In Prodigy Transformation 2, the unit gains 25% increased damage, and every 3 regular attacks deal 75% of its damage to all enemies within range.
Unyielding Spirit (passive)
- Regular attacks against enemies with a Status Effect deal 10% increased damage per stack of each Status Effect, capped at 100%.
- If the Status Effect is a DOT, it refreshes the duration and changes the source to this unit. This triggers only once per DOT type per enemy.
Father and Son Spirit Energy (ability)
- On activation, target a point within range to fire Father and Son Spirit Energy for 10 seconds.
- Enemies caught in the beam take 75% of the unit’s damage every second.
- The unit stops attacking while the ability is active.
- The ability has a per-player cooldown of 90 seconds.
Prodigy deployment stats
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Secret |
| Typings | Physical and Light |
| Deployment cost | 1,150 Yen |
| Spawn limit | 1 on the map |
Between the transformation stacking, area attacks, and a 10-second beam that pins high-value targets, Prodigy (Rage) rewards patience. Get both transformations rolling, keep the Prodigy Meter climbing, and save Father and Son Spirit Energy for the moments when a group or boss is locked in range.
